About the Artist
It all started in a cold basement in Marina California. Marina is located in between Seaside and Salinas on the Central Coast 831. Chiefa would make beats on his Yamaha keyboard. Since 1990 Billy Bud Toker had been using instrumentals of singles to make undaground tracks on his home stereo for the Buffnecks to bump. Tef Shaun appeared on a couple of Billy Bud's undaground tracks in the mid 90's. We all knew each other and what our musical interest were but never collaborated on any songs until the summer of 1999 when they decided to work together forming a group called "Ronin". Then barely 6 months later Billy Bud met a co-worker named DJ RObsta the Turn-Table Mobsta who produced beats with his brother-in-law MI Insane and were looking for some artists to work with. We set up a meeting and from that meeting agreed to work together eventually forming the foundation of Funk Spot Records. In 1994 J-Cub and BBT reunited after high school working together in Pebble Beach. They both did music on the unda and motivated each other to never quit and one day if one of ' em ever got their foot in the door that they would bring along the other. BBT had hooked up with Chiefa and Shogun then in 2003 reunited again to join him as an UndaHogg along with his lil sis Reefa. Those two added a different flavor the UndaHoggs were missing to make that unique sound you all love to bump. Now you're probably wondering how we got the name "UndaHoggs" from "Ronin"? Better yet, what the fuck is an UndaHogg? Tef Shaun, Shogun's cousin and 4th member of the group, came up with the name "Ronin" as a reflection of who we were and what we brought to the Game. After some careful research we learned that Ronin was a name commonly used. Wanting to be different and original we struggled to find us a new name. Chiefa and Shogun were listening to some old undaground tracks and the name UndaHoggs was spit in a verse and there it was. That was our new name. To us UndaHoggs means the misfits. The rebels. The trouble makers. The ones who see things differently. The ones who break rules because they make their own rules. We make music for these kinds of peoples because while most see them as outcasts........ we see them as an Undahogg. In 2005 we are set to start Undatainment (Undaestimated Entertainmetnt). This umbrella is going to be the business part behind all of our creative branches including the whole UndaHogg Camp, promotional team, artists, production team as well as an up coming on-line radio station set to drop early 2005. Undatainment has plans to drop a line up of new music for the new year with definate plans for a Central Bay Life 2 /Salinas2Seaside so we'll be sure to keep y'all updated on that
