Album Description
"Movin' & Shakin" is dubbed part of the "Smart Moves Series" by educators. Children sing and dance to this captivating music with educational, interactive lyrics that keep them stretching, swaying, banging their drums, making letters, tapping their toes, jiggling their seats, and laughing to both familiar and original tunes. Some songs even have a bilingual twist. Before long, youngsters are singing along, moving various parts of their body, and following simple directions - all while identifying colors that surround them, counting off from 1-20, and scaling their ABCs. It's so much fun; they don't even know they're learning. This flagship CD of the series takes children "Movin' & Shakin" through 30-minutes of all new action-style songs - NO COUCH POTATOES HERE! Recommended for children age toddler and up. Also available: "Hoppin' & Boppin' for Youngsters". "Animal Romp" is another interactive, educational CD in the series that teaches children about wildlife, animal characteristics and facts. Look for these titles on VHS or DVD. For age toddler and up. A quick-view educational guide is in the cover of each music CD. Lyrics and free educational activities are available at AbridgeClub.com.

Wow!.......2002-02-21
I have 2 toddlers who absolutely LOVE these songs. They are short, silly, fun, and they teach things like colors, down & up, and body parts. The music is from songs I have known all my life, and the lyrics not only keep my kids moving, but slows them down toward the end for rest time. I am very happy with this CD, because we don't have a yard for the kids to play in, and it's like planned play time for them. For once nsomething I bought does what the company says it does.
If you have a TODDLER... I HIGHLY recommend it!.......2001-11-19
I purchased both of these CDs for my 2 year old, who loves it! She knew most of the songs within just 3-4 weeks. She's learned commands like... "up", "down", "bend", "sway", "stop", "turn", and others in such a fun way... even I join in and get a good work-out while helping her with her moves. She has her favorites, but the music & songs never get annoying. I can't wait for the video!

It Teaches My Kids & Me!.......2002-05-07
As a single parent, I never know what to do to keep my kids busy, but I must say that this interactive CD really gets them moving. My daughter is 2 and my son is 31/2, and when I come home from work, exhausted, I just pop this CD in and there they go, performing for me. It is a lifesaver. They sing their ABC's, count to 20, run around the livingroom identifying their colors, and dance until they are bug-eyed. I'm glad they're learing while they are having fun, because I don't feel guilty. It was a gift worth getting!
Gets TODDLERS up and moving!.......2001-11-19
I'm a single mother with a 3 year old who won't sit down when this CD is on. These songs are so darned cute that we are both up and dancing around the living room like two silly fools. We even modify the movements for the car. If you have a toddler who likes to dance, like mine, you'll really like this CD. I am anxiously awaiting the Movin' & Shakin' CD for my daughter's holiday stocking.

The Helio Sequence - 'Com Plex' (Cavity Search).......2004-10-25
Nine tunes of semi-innocent sounding space pop that has nothing to prove whatsoever.Hailing from Porland,OR,believe it or not, this is a duo.Brandon Summers is on guitar and vocals and Ben Weikel is on keyboards and drums.I happen to notice sort of a Beatles/Cheap Trick like melody here.Best tracks are "Just Married Jane",the spell-binding "My Heart",the soaring "Sassafras",their glossy cover of the Beatles "Tomorrow Never Knows"(now, that's class-the way they do it anyway),"Big Jet Sky" and "Demographics".Okay,I confess.'Com Plex' is better than what I had expected. Was recorded in a one-room music store of the two musician's day job.I've caught these guys playing live and if you get the chance to do so yourself, take my advise:bring earplugs. They can probably up and quit their day job now.
Cool Sounds.......2002-12-31
There's a mixture of fluid and static music in this record that makes it a bizarre cross between Kraftwerk and King Black Acid. Most people don't know who KBA is so instead we'll call it a mixture between Kraftwerk and early Pink Floyd. Throw into that bit of late-Beatles and Blurish Brit-pop. There's a soft electonica underbelly to Helio Sequence which heard by itself is almost trancy. On top of it is wet delay-ridden guitars soaring toward spacerock. Its innovative and gets better with every listen. Its power is in the music and instrumental jams/solos. The songs are not particularly catchy and lack strong hooks -- in other words after listening to the album no songs get stuck in my head. But it is also complex and textured which makes each listening a fresh experience. The album feels a bit restrained as if the musicians are unable or unwilling to let loose or perhaps that they are slaves to their electronica fundament. Check out track #3. That's about as poppy as they get.
Wow!!!.......2002-05-01
I started sending out my bands demo a couple days before I got this album in the mail. It's intimidating to hear a couple of new guys that recorded at the house (much like I have) and they sound this good. I can't believe they're not bigger than they are. It's not just [good] music, its deep, highly creative, and catchy as hell. Some bands do something and you say "Wow, I know where your coming from!!" But with these guys your saying "Wow, I wish I knew where you were coming from!!" I bought this album because of the MBV comparisons, and I kept hearing the beatles mentioned and you do kind of get the sense of Kevin Shields doing Sgt. Peppers, but this album is by no means a rehash of anything I've ever heard. I gotta check out their next release!
Absolutely amazing.......2001-09-13
Two kids perform and record an entire album and put together nine tunes worthy of heavy airplay. This is a truly professional-sounding production with catchy tunes and psychedelic, deep music. The comparison to the Beatles is natural, especially since they do a respectable cover. Very English-sounding.
I'm still amazed at how little-known this record is (but is probably understandable with the small label and little publicity). I expect we will be hearing much more from them, on a bigger label with an even more impressive mastering of their next album. Take this CD to your friends' next party and watch them as they listen to Com Plex. Pity it isn't available on vinyl.
Simply amazing.......2001-05-03
This is undoubtedly the best album I've purchased this year. If you like Mercury Rev, this one is better. It's more creative, more energetic, more out there. It has just the right mix of lyrical melody and drugged-out oddity. All I can say is I hope they're putting out more some time soon.

A moment in time..........2002-12-19
Man did we have a blast while we were around. Were we young and dumb? Absolutely. Was the album a little too produced? Probably. Did we play too fast? Maybe so. Did we get too drunk? More than a few times, yeah. Despite it all (or maybe because of it all) I still think this is a great album, and I will always be proud of what we did here, and will stand behind it until the day I die. Thanks to all the bands we became brothers with (Bollweevils, Feds, Mandingo, Goober Patrol, Zoinks) and thanks to everyone who came to the shows. If you had half as much fun as we did, then we accomplished our mission.
One of my favorite punk bands of all time..........2000-07-24
I absolutlely love this band. Along with Jabberwocky this CD gets the most play in my stereo.

The new Daft Punk.......2003-02-02
This is the new daft punk! Every song is superbly produced and has it's own sound. Listen to especially to spanish harlem and illogique. Spanish harlem sounds like minimal techno (Robert Hood) but rocks every dancefloor. On the other hand, illogique sounds like Kraftwerk in the 21st century!

First to tell you.......2004-07-24
The first time I've heard anything by the youngsters it was on the 'Classic & Rare' collection of tracks from F communications. Very nice collection;), some of you should check it out. The track by the Youngsters was "Illogique", a very nice piece that led me further to purchasing this Army album.
It is a highly well put together music of mystery. It is in many cases French, no wonder these guys are!:D The melody, which is always present in this music haunts your every step. And the technical qualities are the kind which you will hear on a 'live electronic bands' album. The sounds are easily distinguished between each other, and the clarity throws you back to the walls.
Also there is a bit of attitude and edgyness that follows these tunes. The kind of edgyness that can give you goosebumps with its purified-sounds and very 'good' (love-good) melodies. But then you will feel somewhere else, as if your reality is a tiny bit turned. Really great for any environment.
1. Opening theme. A new age break-beat with sliding percussion, the kind that sort of sounds like a current of fast air escaping. Very determined melody of one of those youngsters' sounds that kind of works like a bassline. Not too long until the true bass comes in with a dreamy synth.
2. Place, Race & FAce sounds dangerous with its panicing bass, but there is a kiddish melody that makes you feel all freakishly happy:DDD Very cool opposites. There is also a bunch of stuff happening that is just underscribable and better explains itself while listening. Or mamybe I am just lazy about writing a whole report on every track. A few more. 'Place, Race & FAce' has been a single that many djs took their courageous chests to spin for already over a year.
3.Rasberry fields posesses a true youngsters' bassline, it is a continuous pulsing note that by itself also waves and shines in different ways. A 'dark-night' melody takes you on a very strangely historic drive wherever.
4. Confidential music, also a single has a timeless sound of no style, for styles are far behind when you are listening to these F com tracks. Everything, that could make this sound better, is mixed in. This particular tune has several vocals just saying phrases, very well done sounds and everything like that, c'mon is this nessesary, we are talking about The Youngsters here, not DJ Dice!
From now on, whatever else I will describe, just keep in your head that everything is done here with passion, love, and a little mystery, all awesome, ready to be perfect.
5. The Pink Sox is a piece made mostly of powerful, emotional strings and some very nice liquid work.
6. Cafe de la Poste is probably the brightest one yet, meaning happier than the rest, equally beautiful. Piano. Strings. Beaty. Not beauty. Although that too.
7. Alright, moving on to 'Laptop Week-End' it is a relaxing track with a lazy melody that for some reason reminds me of long tongues. A very cooperative bassline that does not interfere with the mood that is slowly being put over your eyes with alien sounds and a sax. Interesting how would this sound on a beach in the Sun?
8. A harmless but powerful tune called 'Curtains'. FOr all of us who love the underground this album is bliss. Probably the weakest part of the cd, but still rocking!
9. Mellotron. You just have to listen:)
