BRINGING BACK THAT NEW YORK RAP.......2005-11-05

The first time I had heard of Oktober was on the compilation/mixtape Freshchest Affiliates and I have to say that I was very impressed, he featured on two tracks (NYC and Reset the game) and a freestyle. It was enough to convince me that I ought to check him out, so I went and picked up his album and well..I was very pleased.
The production is top notch featuring a great mid ninties new york feel while also showing an updated new york vibe similar to the beats by Premo.
Oktober has a great rhyme style and you can tell that he has a love for real hip hop, there are no over the top gangsta tales here just real street music from this Bronx Puerto Rican mc.

It is a shame that most people will sleep on this, because Oktober has real talent featuring some banging beats with dope rhymes. This is a solid debut from the label that brought us Cunninlynguists(check them out also)and I look foreward to his new album. Give this a try.

This was a Freshchest release, the same label that puts out Cunninlyguists. I had heard Oktober on the Freshchest compilation "Headnod Supremacy". Aside from Cashmere the Pro, Oktober was outshining every other artist on the label. So I found this CD and I have to say that this is a great hip-hop release. Oktober has a VERY polished delivery and the beats, done by Kno and Freshchest prose all compliment the lyrics well with head nodding drums and samples. If you like mid-90s style golden era rap then pick this up. From the begining with "NYC" and "Beefeater" to "Don't want hell" and "On my Mind" the whole disc is a heater.
