Customer Reviews:
For Stoupe & the guest vocalists.......2006-06-09
This album somewhat makes up for the mostly uninteresting Ghandi album, but does not bring you back to Violent by Design. After five years listening to VBD I was hoping that a weak album would bring them back to the studio with a vengeance - and that happened - but only with Stoupe, the best producer by far out there including El P since RZA, maybe ever. This guy's production is just awe-inspring, the guy really knows music and what he's doing behind the boards. I can't really describe effectively how talented overall Stoupe is - with samples and beats and everything else he creates.
The big negative to Legacy of Blood is "Vinnie Paz". No not the former middleweight champ out of Rhode Island, but the guy who took his name. This guy is just devolving at a mad pace. Some of my favorite verses ever are his from VBD and Psycho-Social, but something happened to this guy and he just totally lost all his rapping and writing abilities. His rhymes are excruciatingly repetive and boring and this is made all the more obvious by the excellent guest appearances by Sean Price, GZA and Killah Priest who all perform at a very high level, both with their vocals and their words. Every time Vinnie starts rapping it sounds f***ing terrible. I really don't know what happened to this guy, he always seemed like he wanted to act tough but now it's just comical how ridiculous this guy acts. It's pretty pathetic and I really hope that:
STOUPE puts out an instrumental of Legacy of Blood because after 2 years or so of listening to this I am sick of suffering through Vinnie Paz. In fact, Stoupe would absolutely BLOW UP if he left JMT and formed a team with Sean Price and maybe someone else (maybe jus allah) or if he could join Def Jux or something or continue working with Canibus and drop Paz who would then disappear forever, (to the reviewer below: Stoupe produced an album with the rapper CANIBUS titled RIP THE JACKER, which is brilliant and Canibus flows over Stoupe's beats far better than Paz. RIP THE JACKER 2 is supposedly in the works). Stoupe is the premier producer in the industry and it's a f***ing shame that his brilliant music gets ruined by a loudmouth poseur punk rapper like Vinnie Pazienza -Ikon the Verbal Hologram. Cousin.
Continuing the "Legacy".......2006-06-07
What makes a group amazing is the ability to create a sound that is different but at the same time creates a sound that our ears embrace. JMT had carved its niche into the hip hop scene by doing just this. The main theme i have learned from listening to JMT is that rap is war music. Legacy of Blood keeps with that theme. Thought many people continue to say Paz sucks and Stoupe is great in reality, if they where to separate where would Stoupe go? Only the lyrics and voice of Vinne Paz go hand in hand with amazing beats in songs like "Saviorself", "Me Ne Sballo", "Before the Great Collapse", and "The Philosophy of Horror". The amazing, third world sound in the song " Me Ne Sballo" could only be accompanied by 3rd would lyrics, war and violence. JMT brings something to the hip hop scene that no one else has ever brought before, and thus it needs an outstanding character like Paz to create lyrics that most rappers would never venture into. Legacy of Blood incites hate but at the same time inspires. Like someone before me said, even the interludes are masterpieces and are not crappy time fillers thrown onto a cd. Where Stoupe gets the ideas for his beats, i have no clue. JMT is for people who want music that gives them new ideas, not the same static song after song heard on the mainstream scene.
MASTERPIECE.......2006-05-08
Building from the solid production explored on VOG, Legacy Of Blood brings strong lyricism back to the raw duo known as Jedi Mind Tricks. Vinnie Paz, after abandoning his Ikon persona, is a much-better balanced blend of insight and raw anger on this effort. Stoupe, as always, makes the entire album beg for an instrumental co-release. Songs like "Scars Of The Crucifix", "Saviourself (ft. Killah Priest)", and even the hidden track "Without A Plan (ft. Des Devious)" all possess a raw, orchestral Stoupe-masterpiece that is flawlessly matched with a well-crafted verse from an increasingly-capable Vinnie Paz. Little guest appearances, more raw JMT exposure, and an overall strong album. Even the interludes are worth replaying over and over. Buy this or miss out on a masterpiece of Hip-Hop that should be handed out like Bibles.
would be worse rating except stoupes production is amazing.......2006-03-31
first of all Jus Allah is NOT on this album like the guy some guy below said. He left JMT and went solo but is now making a album with Bombshot and i belive hes comming back for the next JMT album. Vinnie has some of the worst and annoying rhymes ever on this album. "men fear time, yet time fear the pyrimids." ...................ok. "dont be scared be prepared for the worst, before i let a whole round shot burst// you the opening act so rock first, trust me multiple shots from glocks hurt. that is pretty horrible but on the contrary in the same song. "I have a iron force, robbin you on the iron horse// im a lion thats relying on the Maayans thoughts" just the multi and delivery of that is pretty good. Too many interludes also even though they may be from a great producer it just a filler so vinnie doesnt have to rap. On the Eve of War is the best song IMO on this album vinnie and GZA come through on this plus the amazing beat to go allong with it.
if your new to JMT this and visions of ghandhi are good starters. Violent by disign might not apeal to you at first but after listinmg to the cd over and over youll understand why JMT has gone downhill.
Not VBD, but pretty good.......2006-03-09
This is aggressive, violent hip hop. The group doesn't apologize for it. You won't find Paz imitating Slug by feeling the need to follow up each violent bar with something sensitive.
That should be clear to potential listeners, because this record is not for people who are easily offended. JMT targets Christians, gays, pacifists, the government and a range of other people and groups.
There are some tracks that seem more inspired than others, and a lot of the same themes and material from past albums are recycled here, so there is some truth to the complaint that Vinnie Paz can get repetitive.
But Stoupe's beats are brilliant, to the point where it's hard to believe some cuts were almost wasted by being used as interludes, and more than a few times the beats and the rhymes come together perfectly.
My personal favorite track is "Savoirself." The beat is ridiculously catchy and the imagery is classic JMT -- heiroglyphs, Greek gods, ancient war and mysticism. "The Age of Sacred Terror" is perversely violent, "Me Ne Shalto" is bouncy and sharp, and the GZA and Killah Priest guest spots are both throwbacks to the days when Wu was at the top of their game.
Overall this isn't Violent By Design, but it's a far better effort than Visions of Ghandi and probably the group's second best album.

Product Description
Marytr is a very unique doom metal album forged in the fires of anger and cooled with the rains of sadness. Martyr is the darkest, Angriest, Doom album you'll ever hear. It's filled with laments of agression and sorrow, A sorrow that just doesn't stop unless fueled by anger, But shadows the heart with sadness. Not your typical doom metal album.

Blood Legacy, Good american doom.......2006-06-04
I found this album to be very full of emotions both musicly and lyrically. It has some heavy tones and fluid guitar work and really good atmosphere. Im really into Jason's other band Divine Nightmare, Which led me to Blood Legacy. I must say it really has a british type sound to it, very dark, but really listenable, features growled out vocals and clean vocals. really good album, buy it!
Blood Legacy, A different kind of doom.......2005-06-25
Wow. What a dark album. These guys have been around for ten or so years and i've been a fan for awhile, but let me say they have outdone themselves. Martyr isn't your run-of-the-mill doom album. Im so sick and tired of hearing the same old doom cliches on all these supposedly new doom albums coming out, Blood Legacy delivers, they do it big time on martyr. Jason's vocals are so dark and almost black-ish that i really feel where he is coming from on these songs. Tempo's range from slow to moderate to in your face blast beats, it's a good combination that works so well on these songs, but i really love the electronic elements like on the song "Martyr". They add a heaviness to this record that will just crush you. It's a great album, almost perfect, But then again no one is, so 4 stars! Don't miss this one, trust me, you'll be glad you picked you up.
