While it wouldn't be entirely correct to label Houston an Usher clone, there is more than a passing resemblance between the former teen prodigy and this rather dishy, single-named singer besides his thuggish romanticism and intimate vocals. The first single, the anthemic "I Like That," with its flashy club beat features a who's who of hip-hop's glitterati, including Nate Dogg, Chingy, and Disturbing Tha Peace's I-20, which no doubt helped the track race up the R&B charts and land a McDonalds commercial before "It's Already Written" even made it into stores. But Houston is not just the sum of his more famous friends. His remake of Ready for the World's classic, "Let Me Love You Down," shows a sharp earnestness and heartfelt regret as he tries to overcome the emotional disparities of a May-December romance, while he manages to undercut much of the incipient misogyny and swagger in the genre on the nonsensically dubbed "Twizla," turning the laundry list of qualities the former rapper is looking for in a lady into a touching love song on this promising debut. --Jaan Uhelszki

An alright album from Houston.......2007-01-29
Its unfortunate that it took an eye-gouging incident for people to check out this album but hey that's how it is. The first single I Like That is an okay single but its not as memorable as Keep It On The Low(produced by the ever so underrated Soulshock & Karlin)and Allright(produced by Jazze Pha, who needs to keep his corny introductions to himself). My Promise and Aint Nothing Wrong are two love jams that might have gave the album the boost it needed if they were released as singles. She is is another beautiful cut that kind of sounds like its trying to be a male version of Heather Headley's He Is. Skip Material:Twizala(and was the intro before the song necessary?), Bye Bye Love, Didnt Give A Damn(half-hearted tribute to his deadbeat dad) and Love You Down(these renditions need to stop). Bottom Line: Houston should not be counted out because of this album. There are some songs on here where he shows promise(even though on certain songs he sounds like a young Anthony Hamilton. No disrespect to Anthony). Songs like Aint Nothing Wrong, My Promise, Keep It On The Low show that he might have been a sucess if promoted right. Its sad that he went out the way he did.
"R&B just isn't the same". 1980's-2004 R.I.P........2006-05-19
They don't have energy to throw a hit and probably "So Sick" by (Ne-Yo) was the only song with heart.
Get this CD because it may remind you of what the past fells like.

This cd is awesome and so worth the money. Honestly when I first bought it I mostly bought it for "I Like That" which I still havent gotten sick of. After that I listenened to the entire cd and it is great. There is not a bad song on there. I like them all. Houston has such a good mix of uptempo and slow songs and dance club type sounds. He has a good style and is just real cool and smooth with everything. And yes he does have a different type of sound and is the next Usher but doesnt really resemble him. Plus he writes his own lyrics, Usher doesnt. I wish Houston got more publicity and people knew about him more cause he is a superstar in the making. Get this cd you wont be disappointed!!!!
just what i was looking for.......2005-04-15
this was the cd i wanted bad. because i was expecting a cd that has songs that could be played in parties for people to enjoy. when i heard the songs from beginning too end it turned me on and i couldn't stop listening too it since it's so addicting.
Amazing Debut Album!!!.......2005-03-13

I noticed a lot of ppl dissing this album, and thats fair 'nuf, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and are into different types of music (NB: rap is not always hip hop, hip hop can be r&b, all can be mixed successfully). I think why most ppl didnt like the album is coz they were expecting more songs like the club smash "I Like That".
Houston's singing style is R&B, which he does incredibly well for a young'un! Plus, he proved his smooth vocals can work in all genres. Some examples:
"I like that" is hip-hop, it gets everyone on the dancefloor;
"Keep it on the low" is dancehall (and should've been his 2nd single, it's that good and it really shows off his vocal skills, and heard it in a club the other day - everyone was winin n grinin to it);
"Ain't nothing wrong" is a slow jam that sets the perfect atmosphere for the first time with a new love;
"Twizala" is an R&B track, the lyrics show Houston isn't a wannabe thug like the rest of them playas.
I could go on...but i'll leave you to buy it and see what i mean.
I can honestly say there isn't a single song on this album that i don't like. It really is the best album i've heard for a very long time. The boy has talent, it's obvious.
So all you haters out there, if you want "hip-hop", go find Chingy's album. Houston's "It's Already Written" on the other hand, is a very impressive collection of deep thoughts, catchy chorus lines, and smooth, intelligent beats.
A MUST BUY.
Peace out.

Wonderful Songwriter-Very tallented singer.......2006-06-26
This cd is the first I've heard of Belinda Gail. It took one listening through to get the feel of her style and on the second time around I was hooked! It's really hard to pick a favorite, but the top three from this cd would be Montana Cowgirl, Warm Owyhee wind, and Two seated saddle.

Product Description
This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Personnel: Houston ; Chingy, Don Yute, I-20, Nate Dogg, LeToya. Recording information: 2004. With his debut full-length album, IT'S ALREADY WRITTEN, hip-hop/R&B vocalist Houston shows that his talent goes much deeper than indicated by his infectious party hit "I Like That." With an effortlessly soulful voice that could do justice to a Sam Cooke or Marvin Gaye cover, Houston easily slips into the groove in a number of different styles. Highlights include the aggressive dancehall of "Keep It on the Low," and "What You Say," a slow jam that proves to be a surprisingly honest examination of monogamous love. Often sounding like a smooth combination of R. Kelly and Usher, Houston slides around the big beats and spare production of his first record with the ease of a seasoned professional.From L.A. Guests: Chingy, Nate Dogg, I-20.
