An inspiration to us all.......2005-12-25
Even though he could have easily rested on his laurrels as one of the most talented basketball players of all time, Shaq continues to insist on plowing forward with his singing and acting carrers, despite seemingly having no talent in either field. He's like the little train going up the hill: I think I can, I think I can, I think I can. God bless you Shaq!
Classic Hip Hop... Even if Shaq's Rhymes are a bit weak.......2005-08-12
Let's be honest. Hip Hop is in a VERY sad state right now. If you're a fan of late-80s early-90s Hip Hop, then you'll enjoy this CD. The first song on the album "I'm Outstanding," is my favorite. It features a sample from the GAP Band's classic "Outstanding" and it also has a vocal feature from Yarbrough and Peoples' "Don't Stop the Music" that Hip Hop heads will appreciate. Another track "No Hooks" ("we don't need no hooks!") is produced by the RZA--a grimey early 90s RZA beat--he also lends a verse to the track, along with Method Man. This alone makes this album worth listening to.
On top of this, Eric Sermon (EPMD), Keith Murray and Red Man are also on the album.
Finally, the simple, yet banging, bass-heavy early 90's beats bring back good memories for fans of that era, from Malcom X hats and African medallions to Cross Colours and Hi Tech boots.
The Best?.......2005-07-10
Actually, this 'Best of Shaquille Oneal' album is one hour of silence. He did not have any hits. Ever.
Buy it for pure humor.......2005-02-19
If you're ever feeling sad, just pop this CD in and listen to "Biological Didn't Bother" in either of the two versions here. It's so unintentionally hilarious, which is kind of sad because Shaq is really sincere and seems like a really nice guy to boot. But you will find yourself laughing out loud at couplets like "I learned to dribble from right to left/I couldn't do a damn thing with all them F's" or when he names family members whose house he stayed at when "moms gotta go to work."
If you can track down a video clip of this song, it just intensifies the comedy. If this album were a satire of rap music (of which 98% in my opinion is just as bad as this record) then it would be an easy 5 stars. Happy listening!
(PS the other tracks are pretty comical too... "Yo Shaq, where ya at? Yo yo, I'm over here")
My Son loves this!.......2005-02-03

Not bad actually..........2006-02-07
Though this album doesn't exactly represent the pinnacle of excellence in hip-hop, there are a few tracks on here that are worth a listen. This is especially true if you were/are a fan of either rap from the mid-90s or NBA basketball from that era. It's a plus if you happen to like both (as I did as a teenager back in the day).
Tracks of note on here are:
1) Malik Sealy - Don't Get Lost In The Sauce - An extremely "real" track about his upbringing, lessons learned from life, and his dedication and focus. It is actually of historical importance because Malik Sealy died unexpectedly a few years later... making this track all that much more important. The song as a whole (including beat and lyrics) is also quite good.
2) Cedric Ceballos f/ Warren G - Flow On - A popular west-coast anthem for it's time. It's sound embodies the prime of G-funk era music and is fun to listen to.
3) Jason Kidd - What The Kidd Didd - Though he pretty much just talks about how big he is, the song has a tight beat and is engineered well. It's actually pretty funny to listen to some of the lyrics now, but entertaining nonetheless.
4)Gary Payton - Living Legal And Large - Gary Payton is considered old skool now, but he was in fact "legal and large" in the 90s. The content in this song is enjoyable to listen to and the beat is worth mentioning too.
In sum, I guess this album targets a very niche audience... So if you happen to appreciate the NBA of the mid-90s or when rap was just beginning to become a worldwide phenomenon (or the intersection of the two), you might want to pick this one up.
