Very Solid Album, Yet It Leaves Most Wanting more............2006-05-21
There have been many instances when I have attached the word "timeless", "groundbreaking" and "outstanding" to productions that were concocted by the Beatminerz. Their last Album "Brace For Impak" was nothing short of timeless in my eyes, this i'm sure is do in large part to the fact that the album was facilitated by Rawkus, The greatest underground rap label ever, and of course, the Beatminerz had to have been very excited about their first release as a group. It would seem with this album they have hit the proverbial "sophmore slump". I still believe that the beats were above average. All 15 beats left little for me to desire. I think that the lack of really in-depth song concepts, a more diverse array of emcees and a longer tracklist is what made the album fall short in the eyes of many. My personal qualms were that there were two tracks dedicated to R&b singers...that's a good thing for the Beatminerz to do, but I think that one track showcasing a R&B singer would have sufficed. It seemed like the Beatminerz repeated a lot of things on this album, adding perhaps a more mundane feeling to it. Wordsworth is featured multiple times on the album as well as Last Emperor, while they both are great emcees, I personally would've liked to see them appear only one time apiece on the album and seen the Beatminerz recruit more talent.
THE classic hip hop producer.......2006-02-23
da beatminerz, a.k.a. mr walt, extra p, large professor, (from) main source:
Eric B & Rakim. Biz Markie's 'All Samples Cleared'. Pete Rock & CL Smooth's 'Mecca and the Soul Brother'. Nas's 'Illmatic' and 'Stillmatic'. Diamond D's 'Stunts, Blunts & Hip-hop'. Kool G Rap. Big Daddy Kane. A Tribe Called Quest's Midnight Marauders. Rob Swift. The Beastie Boys. Roxanne Shante. Gang Starr. Main Source.
all of that was produced by the project da beatminerz, not to mention black moon (da beatminerz first name), smif n wessun etc etc.. mr walt was mentioned in the song 'what' from tribe called quest when q tip says "what is music without mr walt?". this album is a hip hop essential. detailed cutting edge producing coming straight from the heart of new york hip hop. if you want to learn about hip hop but this album.
disappointment!!!.......2005-09-10
there's nothing that's exceptional in this album. i was so let down by how mediocre their production was on here compared to their past work with the b.c.c. - if you dont believe me, make sure you listen to the samples above. i read the reviews for their other album 'brace 4 impak' and i think that i wont even attempt to listen to it.
if you dont know who da beatminerz are; this cd is still a lack luster album. save your money.
Really Good Hip-Hop Album.......2005-05-14
Guess what? I don't know anything about Da Beatminerz. I don't know who they are , but guess what? I know a truly dope hip-hop CD when I hear one. Da Beatminerz Fully Loaded W/Statik is a really good CD. It's raw and the production is awesome. Track 4, "O," is really tight. The thing about this CD that amazes me is that it is such a good CD from beginning to end but it doesn't have that commercial 106 and Park sound, so I am afraid many people might sleep on this CD.
The guest artists on the album include KRS-One, J-Live, Wordsworth, Last Emperor and others. My personal favorite guest star is my home girl Mystic. It has been three years since she dropped her debut album Cuts For Luck, Scars for Freedom. What happened? This album was released in 2001. Mystic was later signed to DreamWorks and they leaked a song named "Better Dayz," to radio and promised an album, but it just never happened. DreamWorks has folded into Geffen/Interscope and they have not added any of the former DreamWorks artists such as Nelly Furtado or Floetry to the website. Mystic's song "Pull That Card," is classic Mystic.
One surprisingly really good song on the album is "That'z Why," by David Banks. He is an R&B newcomer, and this song is about a father wanting to continue his relationship with his child despite the poor relationship he has with the child's mother. Wordsworth fly's solo on the track "Came to Do." This is an okay song with little kids on the track, yes little not only doing their thing in the chorus but at the end of the song.
From start to finish this is a great CD. I did a little research. Da Beatminerz are producers. Well hey, they are awesome and so is this CD. Don't sleep on this release.
