The name Fatality symbolizes death and rebirth. In order to be born again, spiritually you need to die first. Fatality’s point of view and current trek in life began after a near fatal car crash just a short time after relocating to GA. He had to start all over again and learn to do everything. He came to Atlanta from his hometown of Liberty City, FL to escape poverty, drugs, and gangs. Fatality’s music is not only hip- hop, but also Neo Soul, R&B and a jazz kind of funk at its best.

    Great record. What is up with the price?

    Is it that hard to come by stateside?

    I really like every track except for the rap song. I always skip that track, I forget what the name is but it isnt good.

    Sweet Calling is definitely the most catchy song. Like it a lot but I have played it too many times.

    Yoooooo I just got Quantic's Apricot Morning album from Amazon....
    He has definitely gotten A LOT better since The 5th Exotic...
    This album is amazing!!!

    Haven't even listened to in in full, and already, it beats out so many albums in his genre. Bonobo only has Quantic by his difference in years of musical experience. But Bonobo has some competition...luckily they do production work and remixes for each other.

    I love DJs who produce their own tracks.

    Quantic, Bonobo, DJ Tiesto, Alex Gold, Jimmy Van M, Sasha, John Digweed and so many others...

    I better get used to seeing the funny artwork on my desk. This cd ain't goin' nowhere for a while...

    O.K., its not as forceful or gritty as his '5th Exotic' album, but '..Morning' still makes for a great soundtrack to anyone's everyday life patterns. It ranges from intense horn-section/bass driven breaks, to upbeat jazz guitar/swingy woodwinds/2 mellow soul tracks w/female vocals, and one hiphop track w/ the Aspects.
    Now, no vocalists were featured on his first effort,which is sometimes considered a weakness. I think for Holland's Quantic project its the other way around, as the vocalists seem to limit his freedom to create variations in the actual patterns of each song.
    Hence the instrumental tracks stand out in my opinion. 'Trouble From The River' is the strongest, a true climax to the album, and an inspirational groove indeed. The other tighties are probably 'Not So Blue', 'Wider Than the Sky', 'Transatlantic' and the title track. Holland is one of my favorite solo musicians and I'd put him in the ranks of Amon Tobin, Fila Brazillia, Food/Coldcut and Mr.Scruff.
    The Tru-Thoughts record label is responsible for some of the smoothest, genre-blending jazz/funk/soul/hop available to man right now and in the closer future (from Bonobo, Quantic and Steady to a maadddfattt compilation by Mr.Scruff entitled 'Heavy-Weight Rib Ticklers'.) And that's just their opening line up. I'm on the watch for the Quantic Soul Orchestra release, too.

    I've had this album for about 3 years now, and I felt I should put a word in here. Quantic (along with Bonobo and a few others) was one of the first acid jazz/downtemp artists that really hit me. This album is sheer awesomeness and should be in any "downtempo-phile's" music collection.

    My favorite track on the album by far is Infinite Regression. The haunting beat, and the intellectual and a bit confusing (at least for me, at first) dialogue makes for an awesome track to mellow out to. I took an acting class and used this dialogue during one of our "character-building" exercises. Very hard to pull of, but for Quantic to get away with putting something like this in an acid jazz album says something about his ability as an artist.

    Believe the hype of this album and pick this up immediately even IF you have to import.

    I've had this album for a while and have only just started listening to it seriously... DON'T WAIT I say. It really is great and if it's true that Will Holland is only 21, or anywhere in his early twenties, it's a brilliant, sophisticated achievement. I'd say it's worth it for track 10 alone, which is one of those beautiful haunting tunes that you half remember from some primordial past. No idea what genre this is - I doubt it's acid jazz, maybe nu jazz, but whatever it is I like it and I'm a progressive house/ ambient fan. It's quirky but there's some pretty emotional piano in there too. Wow.

    During my quest to find good downtempo/acid jazz, I was directed towards Quantic's 5th Exotic album. The soothing and thoughtful beats take me on journeys beyond my wildest imagination. In track 11. "In the key of blue", I find myself in a ritual dance in a tribal rainforest. In track 4. "Infinite regression" I find myself in the mind of a mad philosopher. If you would like to open your mind and flood your senses with intellectual beats, give this album a chance.

    A perfect party or chill out album ... This album is perfectly organized into a fluid blend. Not many artists these days can create a lineup as perfect as this. And a one man band at that. Funky Gritty Smooth and Heavy all at once.
    Sure it has a predictable acid jazz vibe to it, but there is the Live-Upright-Bass sound, and sure there are flaws here and there (mainly sample/high hat levels) but this album is still fresher than most stuff being released today in 2002.
    ---It's not like the Herbaliser's sound has ever been flawless anyway (half their tunes sound like they were a one-take-session with DJ scratches overdubbed)
    ---And if you are on the hunt for quality jams that no one has ever heard, this album has been selected by plenty of elite DJ's (Krush, Mr. Scruff, Coldcut.)
    ---Also, if you like the Yesterday's New Quintet grooves you should check this LP out.
    So, of course you should eventually own ALL of the Herbaliser's LPs, but they will always be around. So at the present grab this Quantic CD (and 'Apricot Morning' album out soon..)because it's already hard to find and it will give you just as much listening pleasure. I'm sure you can dig it.

              Although Henry Purcell usually is cited as the greatest master of English text-setting, such judgments ignore the genius of John Dowland, whose music not only is totally accordant with its texts, but whose melodies are invariably memorable and eminently singable. This recording offers a variety of vocal works, most for mixed voices, accompanied by Anthony Rooley's well-tuned and tastefully realized lute figures. Of the program's 18 songs, 11 are by Dowland; the rest are by several contemporaries--Morley, Tomkins, and Weelkes--who both encouraged and were influenced by Dowland's unique musical persona, a remarkable combination of "distraught melancholy" and flawless melodic and harmonic instincts. Familiar and beloved tunes are here, including "Come again!" and "Sleep wayward thoughts." But just as compelling are Tomkins's "Weep no more, thou sorry boy" and Claudin de Sermisy's "Las, je m'y plains." The four voices--some of England's finest early-music singers--are so distinct that rather than a carefully blended ensemble, we hear each individual voice clearly defined.               four voices: evelyn tubb - soprano, lucy ballard - alto, andrew king - tenor, and simon grant - bass. for those of you who think that the human voice is about as pretty a musical instrument that's ever been invented, this is a disc for you. divine stuff. director, anthony rooley adds some nice lute, too. don't miss it.
