Truly Magnificent.......2007-05-10

Many will still rant on about his debut release , great though it was it is this release that Steve finds his true placing "too cool , "talk to me" and "sillouette" being the knockout blows for me. Everyone should own a copy.Greatly inspiring balance of smooth seventies funk and romantic beauty.

I trade cds with a co-worker to pass the day. She gave this one to me because it was the least of her Euge Groove favorites. I absolutely fell in love with it. I'm not sure what she heard but I now listen to this cd everyday. Some of my very favorites include Living Large, XXL, Too Cool with one of the smoothest endings ever, Silhouette and my very, very favorite Cabolicious. The reviews have been mixed. I'm glad the opportunity came to me to hear it for myself. I believe you, too might be very pleasantly surprised!

One of the best of 2004.......2006-05-31

The title may be a bit extravagant,but I think the music is really cool.I dare say it was one of the top releases of 2004.As alway,remakes make me twitch in agony,and so the opening cut didn't strike a chord with me,but the rest of the album is very well set.I just think the bonus track at the end,a rather unnecessary instrumental version of the hip-hop flavoured "Thank You" was not good as well.
Overall,it's nice.I loved "Take you Higher" and "The Gift",and "Silhouette" was nice too.
Great album,minus the remake.

I play it at every party I throw. I play it when I'm cleaning the house or doing the garden.

"JUICY FATTBURGER".......2005-05-23

I have been a Fattburger fan for years. This is a great disc.Upbeat,great rhythm, vocals and instrumentals.My favorite tracks are: "Anything's Possible","Love Is Like A River","Just Can't Get Enough" and "Sheezateez". This is the first Fattburger CD featuring Evan Marks on guitar after Steve Laury left the band. Marks is also a great guitarist.

When a good live sound meets studio production.......2005-10-11

E.U. and most Go Go bands should always a live experience. This album is what happens when a local style of music gets a little national airplay and then someone thinks they can translate that live sound and energy into a studio recording. This album sounds produced...over produced. It sounds like on many tracks there was someone in the studion saying "wow, we can do that? well lets try this and this and that!" Missing the mark of capturing the energy and feel of Go Go music.

The best recording of Go Go I have ever heard are live. Usually off the board no less. What is missing in this album is the energy, the banter with the crowd and the feel that live recordings give you. The only one that even sounds vaguley like Go Go is Livin' Large, but even that is studio polished in a wierd way. The only one worth anything on this disk is "Shake Your Thing" and that is only because Herbie Luv Bug took the beat of Go Go, the sound of E.U. and shaped it into a hip hop song....so therefore it is not Go Go. Since almost every song has a different producer the album is an incohesive mess.

One track on this album says it all "Come to the Go Go." Yes, go on down, cause this recording is sterile and E.U has done much better. You want to here a good Go Go recording? See if you can find yourself a copy of "Go Go Live at the Capital Center."

EU is one of the stalwarts of '80s house in DC, and this album is an excellent introduction, as well as an evergreen house party / weekend bbq favorite. If you like Digital Underground, de la soul, or Fresh Prince (think "summertime"), you'll love EU.

Livin' Large is an instrumental funk/groove CD featuring the big sound of the Hammond B-3 organ fronting a seven piece band. There are 11 tunes, 10 of which were written by the band. 8 of those 10 songs were written by bandleader and Hammond B-3 player Joe Krown. Livin' Large was recorded in New Orleans at the end of 2004, and released in New Orleans in February of 2005. Livin' Large was produced by Krown.
