Customer Reviews:
not as good as first one.......2006-09-05
its still an excellent album but some of the beats are pretty bad. it starts off strong productionwise but near the middle and end the productoin gets a little lazy and questionable. He also relies more on samples this time around which i dont like. Lyrics are on point throughout though but i liked his first album for the excellent beats. If he had taken 5 or 6 of the first songs and made an ep it would have been nice.

Now what we're dealing with is music,music,music...so many categories, styles and ways that we've used it"
Words, from the Boston-born MC/Producer. Incase you don't know Insight is one very intelligent & talented man, producer and MC in the group "Electric Company", Insight has started to expand his experience and projects further over the years in an effort get noticed. If you've never heard Insight before, I'll tell you now, he has got to be one the most slept on lyricists I've ever heard, and that's saying something:
"Water in a cup on the counter is vibrating,
When I'm coming every Four seconds the Floor starts shakin,
peel off the roof so the walls start to cave in,
controlling satellites, manipulating constellations,
When I'm concentrating, Compasses stop operating,
you lose direction and lessen your chances of escaping...
Similarly, whenever he starts to speak you just find yourself having to listen, as his words & delivery are so captivating. The beats insight creates are equally impressive, with some of the most diverse beats, that are far from just a basic loop, that keeps you fixed to the music. The blast radius, in terms of concepts and themes, is such a mixed bunch. Every single track has its own concept/sound, & takes you through its own story which adds to the idea that you have to listen to what he's saying, to truly appreciate the track. "Time Frame" takes you on a journey through events that have happened over the years, including the growth of hiphop, over probably one of the best jazz samples I have ever heard!! On "Unexplained Phenomena" Insight & Edan display their rhyming skills by constantly exchanging verses, making it look as easy as a converation. Whilst "Seventeen Mc's" wins the title of "most creative track" of 2004, as Insight takes on multiple different styles so convincingly you really would think he has 16 Featurings on there(Fans of J5 will love this!)...He even got DITC legend A.G. & Boston's #1 MC, EDO G, on "Strategy" with a ridiculously addictive loop. So refreshing. I'm begging with you, check out Insight and check out Blast Radius if you are dying to experience that positive, refeshing hiphop that not only feeds the mental, but reminds you why Hiphop isn't dead yet. DONT SLEEP.

One of the more inspiring voices in positively-charged hip hop..........2006-01-23
Insight, more than anything, is an excellent emcee. Just listen to "Seventeen Emcees" for proof of that; there can be no question after listening it. He literally weaves seventeen exclusive and unique styles, each valid and interesting, a feat most established emcees would be hard pressed to match. While he does occasionally lapse into the clichéd "I'm the best thing for hip-hop" tone, the majority of his music is positive and uplifting, and leaves the listener feeling good about life, accomplishing a goal all musicians should strive for. For lighthearted, thought provoking music, check out "The Blast Radius."
The most well-rounded artist in hip hop today.......2004-12-17
Insight is one of the dopest producers, DJ's, and MC's in the game. The creativity found in The Blast Radius can not be found anywhere else in the industry. Thought provoking lyrics, hot beats, great samples and cuts, Insight has it all. Buy this album, you won't be dissapointed.
