"Cursing" is wrong weather you think it is ok or not. Just because societies sway like the waves on right and wrong doesn't mean that right and wrong don't exist - for all peoples for all history. How then is right and wrong established...maybe the following will help:
=======
Ephesians 4:29
29Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
=======
Hard to image what our world would be like if we would listen to the God who created us and loves us like a perfect father, giving us advice to make it a better place.

BEP, Rap, Hip-Hop, society - lets start lifting up instead of tearing down.

Alan Pounds and D. Brown should be ashamed of themselves. There is a reason lyrics are edited for radio, it's call children. If you were a parent, you would understand the reason for removing curse words. Perhaps that is what is wrong with the young people in society today, they lack respect for those around them. I want to be able to drive my 8 year old to school and listen to the radio without hearing the F word. I'm aware that she's going to hear it from other kids, but I don't need to condone it or let her see that I condone it. Perhaps if there were less people like these 2 music listeners, there would be less kids walking the streets spewing obscenities in the presence of young children. It's not cool to cuss and no, it's NOT a part of life. Have some self respect.

I'm not a huge fan of the term "sell-out". I've used that term way to loosely as a teenager. But this song is the epitome of selling out. I love Black Eyed Peas' first 2 albums; especially "Behind The Front". I even liked "Elephunk", for the most part. It seems that the Black Eyed Peas are now only interested in getting paid. Their new music is way overproduced, and holds no weight or feeling as it once did. "Let's Get It Started" proved that in a big way. I just want to puke when I see these glitzy MTV whores prancing around in their videos, as their true fan base is steadily depleting. You can't deny that these guys aren't all about the money. They just re-released their "Elephunk" album which now includes this horrible remake. And to add more onto the heaping pile of crap, they have an even worse video on MTV now, "Don't Funk With My Heart". That song is even more lame and poppy than anything on "Elephunk". Worse yet, they changed the title of the song from "Don't F*** With My Heart" to "Don't Funk With My Heart", just to please the corporate radio stations and corporate labels that they have now sold out to. It's just too bad that these soulless record labels are all about the charts and the money. If they weren't, radio wouldn't suck! I would like to give this single 2 stars for the song "Let's Get Retarded", but my conscious will only allow 1 star, by principal.

3 out of 5 stars Good Music.......2005-02-17

I hate to say it people, but curses are part of language. People COULD make music without curses, but why? You may not know this, but there are people who grow up in cultures where they hear cursing all the time. Some don't even think of it as being a bad thing. And why should it? A curse is a word! Just a WORD!

Some words may MEAN bad things, but we have plenty of subject matter that is allowed out there because they don't use the magical "bad words". On TV you can say you had sex with someone, but uppon using the F word to say the same thing, it's not allowed. I find it obsurd that people want to actually CENSOR the English language. If you don't like it, don't listen to it. You have your pick from TONS of artists who don't curse, so pick those albums up instead.

The song "Let's Get Retarted" is not to make fun of themselves. It's a saying... as in let's get "CRAZY" or "Let's Get WILD".

"Let's Get It Started" is a great song in general. It fits into the Rock genre and the R&B genre. You can't have a party without this song. It just rocks. That's all there is to it.

5 out of 5 stars Every rich rapper and rap executive owes their life to Mr. Stanley Burrell aka MC Hammer.......2006-12-20

It makes me sick to think that these so called hiphop purist dissed Hammer for going commercial in the early 90's. Everybody dissed Hammer from 3rd Bass to Tribe Called Quest to Ice Cube. Yeah, Mr. "Are We There Yet" Ice Cube. Hammer was not the best lyricist but he was and still is one of the best entertainers hiphop ever had. These dudes dissed and tore down Hammer then went even further than he did. Every rapper that has commercials, cartoons, label deals, merchandise all got it from Hammer because he did it first. The guys that break ground first are always the one that pay the price for everything that comes after it.

Peace to MC Hammer, 2 Big MC and Oaktown's 357 (Juicy still got me going crazy).

5 out of 5 stars Oaktown's Best.........2006-07-21

I have been looking for this cd for years. The stores do not carry this title and cannot order it because it is out-of-print!!!Listening to this cd took me back to 1988, dancing in front of the t.v., and those famous "hammer pants"! You can't find this cd anymore so grab as fast as you can!!

5 out of 5 stars Fun, danceable first album!!!!!.......2005-07-17

I still can't find this album in stores, because it's still a hot selling item! This debut from MC Hammer was fun and danceable all the way through! Hammer loaded this album with some very funky grooves, grooves that would have fit on James Brown's later albums! And there's a new jack swing feel on some cuts, similar to what Teddy Riley of Guy was doing. And he proved to be a West Coast alternative to the gangsta rap of NWA that also dominated the charts in late 1988/early 1989. Many songs still percolate such as Pump It Up, Let's Get It Started, Cold Go MC Hammer, the inspirational Son Of The King and my favorite on here, the bells heavy Feel My Power (Yeeaaahhh---Like a nuclear shower!). I have played Feel numerous times just like the others--I couldn't stop rewinding the tape on most songs because the album's so very catchy! And I'll do the same with pushing the buttons when I get that CD version of it!!!! This really set the tone for his second album's massive worldwide success in 1990. Hammer has the sound of a preacher preaching all morning at church and someone partying all night on a stage at an arena or stadium all throughout this album. He balances secular and spiritual feelings all within this album, a rarity for a rapper. This is still a classic party album, a dynamite effort in rap's golden late 80s era.

3 out of 5 stars Hammer Gets It Started (3 Stars).......2005-02-12

Okay, let's not get carried away here people. While this album is good, it's definitely not a 4 or 5 star album. There are some tight joints on the album, but most of the songs are nothing more than average. There are classic joints on the album like "Let's Get It Started", "Pump It Up", and "They Put Me In The Mix", but most people fail to realize that, with exception of "Pump It Up", the remixes for the previously mentioned songs were 10 times better. Think about it, the remix for "Turn This Mutha Out" is WAAAAAAAAY better than the album version and the same could easily be said for "Let's Get It Started". It's the remixes that everyone was buying in '88 and that's why this album didn't really sell like it should've. The album versions are still dope though.

There are most definitely some suspect joints on the album. The ones that come to mind are "You're Being Served", "It's Gone", and "Son Of The King". And "Feel My Power" is just plain wack. Also, the fact that MC Hammer produces every song on the album makes most of the songs sound alike.

This album isn't bad at all, but it's not the awesome thrill ride that the other reviewers say it is. I would have to say that the good songs definitely make this album worth owning. There are some great songs on this album that got the party started back in '88 and they might still get your party started today. I'd reccomend buying it.

Standout Tracks: Let's Get It Started, Pump It Up (Here's the News) (My Favorite), They Put Me In The Mix, Cold Go MC Hammer, That's What I Said, and Turn This Mutha Out

5 out of 5 stars Genius.......2005-01-25

This IS Hammer. I'm an old school Hammer fan, 2 Legit and Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'em are so weak compared to this lyrical assault by the baggy panted one. He is the toughness of Rakim meets the smoothness of Kool G Rap meets the edge of Donny Osmond. I remember getting a Hammer doll and having it fight my GI Joe figures when I was 19 living at home with my parents. I would seem like the Joe's would have the upper hand until Hammer would unleash a dance assault on the GI Joe airplanes since he was a foot taller than they were. He would say, "Turn this mutha out!!" and dance over the armies trying to fight him. There was this one time where I borrowed my sister's strawberry shortcake dolls and had hammer set their hair on fire with his dancing. It smelled like someone was baking a dang cake. Someone was and it was Hammer.

There was this other adventure where Hammer threw about three cabbage patch dolls in a freezer for three days. When he felt like it was time to let them out, he dropped them from Mt. Dancestep(a pile of blocks I had made) and their heads blew up. Some of my friends thought this was odd behavior for a 19 year old, but I was popular and didn't care.

    oh yes this was M.C. Hammer's first album and probably his best all around CD. Please Hammer don't hurt him probably sold more copies but this one was way more funkier. tracks like Let's get it started, they put me in the mix, and pump it up made you want to get up and dance. This is a good CD for those of you who like old school rap and appreciate what hammer did for rap and the music industry.

      Anyone who likes "Let's Get It Started" should be kicked swiftly in the groin. Elephunk is an inferior Black Eyed Peas album to begin with, although it has some quality songs on it. "Let's Get Retarded" was an excellent song until they changed the lyrics for the NBA, and MTV decided that it was more radio friendly than the original. I'm certainly not looking forward to the next Peas album.

      5 out of 5 stars Crazy!!.......2004-07-15

      The Black Eyed Peas are the best group out there right now, and this new single is no different. The original version of this song is "Let's Get It Started," which is apparently one of the three tracks on the single. Both versions are definitely my party anthem of the summer... I can't get enough of either of them.
      Both "Let's Get Retarded" and "Let's Get It Started" are on the re-released copy of Elephunk, so if you enjoy this song, I would strongly suggest picking up Elephunk. It's one of those CD's that you can listen to straight through without having to skip over. Both this single and their album are well worth the money!
