I love this album. The songs are catchy, smart and beautifully written (recalling Sebadoh or Nick Drake at times), and an overall vibe prevails that's hard to explain...an ethereal, almost nostalgic sadness that's completely overwhelming. Falling asleep to this record is a beautiful and frightening experience. Find a copy if you can.

Elevator's music is so beautiful, dramatic, catchy, addictive, and strange that it's almost unbelievable that more people don't know about them. "Elevator Parts 1-3" is a compilation of the first two elevator albums, plus some newer material. Each song is wildly different from the last, with sounds that range from fuzzed out guitar to perfect casio pop, but words fail to describe the feeling of listening to them. Get this album and listen to the best band no one knows about.

This is a collection of the early recordings of elevator to hell. you can feel eric's trips on this album eventhough it moves beyond those limitations. an excellent album with fuzzy accustic guitars and rick whites beautiful songs and melodies of life and it's surroundings!

This is the first album I've purchased by Curd Duca, and all in all I'm fairly pleased with it. You'd think that an experimental CD of 48 individual tracks (none of which are much longer than 2 minutes) would be rather arbitrary, more worthwhile as reference material than as a unified listening experience. And though it certainly makes for good reference material, the work is more cohesive than I would've expected. With the exception of an abrasive track here and there, it does almost qualify as "mood music," as it disclaims itself to be. The atmosphere seems ominous compared to the bits I've heard from other Curd Duca releases.

The material itself is sometimes musical, sometimes abstract, and makes frequent use of samples and vinyl-style hiss-and-click ambience. A few tracks utilize sounds and frequencies that actually generated a physical reaction from my speakers. There are somber, jazzy female vocals on a few tracks. These are rather startling, and very pretty, and uniquely interesting given their context.

When all's said and done, this is a plenty recommendable release to people who are interested in ambient, experimental, and desktop music.
