Album Description
As with the last edition, Brazilution 5.4, this highly successful compilation series by Brazilectro founder Arndt Kielstrøpp, has been firmly established at renowned German label Stereo Deluxe where it enjoys worldwide reputation. Now on 5.5, legendary veterans like Celia Vaz and The Ipanemas meet and mingle with new idols like Cibelle and Sabrina Malheiros, and buzzing producers such as Atjazz, Vikter Duplaix and Koop.
First of the double disc set is the elevating Sol Side which offers an impressive range of sweet ballads, mellow funk and uptempo samba, whereas the clubby Luna Side gives way to a panorama of compelling club sounds - some of them murderously cool, some highly percussive, and some deliciously bouncy. The biggest plus is the compilation's diversity, which shows both love for music and an exquisite insider's taste. It can be said that sparkling facets abound wherever you turn: tracks from legendary Brazilian label Far Out Recordings, Ninja Tune, Tru Thoughts and Compost make this voluptous double CD an exciting find and exclusive productions by Moodorama and Ian Pooley add further value.
With Brazilution 5.5, Arndt Kielstrøpp once again proves that he knows his way around good grooves.

Full Mixes - Good Release.......2004-02-19
This is terrific! The tracks are mixed, and it's perfect for putting in when the friends are over and you're sitting back after a night out. They aren't hard core - not the Latin sound with the horns. It is smoother - the new bossa/latin sound that's been popular the past few years. And IMO, the mixing on this cd is a bit smoother than the Break & Bossa vol 5 cd.
Artists from different labels have contributed - featuring S-Tone Inc.'s Arejar, remixed by Soulstance. What's special about this one is that it features the full cut from the schema vinyl. The Brazilectro version has this track cut nearly in half. Next features Compost's highly touted group Intuit, with O Preguicoso - as heard on Glucklich and Break & Bossa comps.
Next the CD goes into BossaCucaNova's Guanabara - as taken from their Brasilidade CD on Ziriguiboom, followed by Praful's Inspiracao.
The remainder of the CD is also a nice collection of new latin'/contemporary sounds and mixes, featuring EDC, Batidos, Mr. Hermano, Racoon and Los Ladrones to name a few. This CD is quality, and I would definitely recommend it. It's not hard on the ears. It is different from the Break & Bossa, Brazilectro, Glucklich compilations and is a solid addition to the collection - as the previous reviewer stated. Enjoy!

Fresh, jazzy, full of infectious rhythm and shimmering beats.......2001-01-26
That's how the last track (Flying Away) begins, in a jazzy-cool, restrained voice that cannot hide the Portuguese embers smoldering underneath. Close your eyes, and picture yourself as James Bond flying to Brazil at midnight, with this voice whispering in your ear. I could swear I heard this song before on some 60s Brazilian jazz album...but, like most of the other songs, it was written by the two German masterminds behind Mo' Horizons. Talk about breaking a stereotype: you would never guess that these guys weren't born in Cuba and raised in Rio.
Touch the Sun was not at all what I expected...every surprise was a good one. DJs Ralf Droesmeyer and Foh Wetzler stir electronic beats that sound engineered by BMW, into a melange of brassy funk, South American and African rhythms, latin and acid jazz, bossa nova bongos, stunning and sultry vocals, breathy flutes, jungley dub, and more. Then they somehow slip it all into a downbeat wrapper that is as sleek, smooth, energizing, and exotic as the dress Marilyn Monroe wore to sing Happy Birthday to President Kennedy.
For your pleasure, Mo' Horizons has created...a dream.
