Album Description
The ice machine in my refrigerator broke. I called a service technician to fix it. He showed up at my house and began working on the problem while I proceeded to work on my music. When he was finished, he came to my studio (that was in a bedroom no bigger than a closet) to present the bill to me. He noticed that I had an acoustic guitar in the corner. He told me he was a guitar player. I asked him, somewhat cynically, if he'd like to play my guitar. He paused for a moment, looked me in the eyes, answered `yes' in a whisper, then picked up the guitar, sat on the floor and began to play.
From the very first note, all I could think about were the words: Hands of God. I've known musicians for most of my 40 + years on this earth, and never had I heard such beautiful music. At that moment I vowed one day I would build a studio, and in this studio there would be a special room. And one day in this special room, this man would sit and play, and I'd record him for all the world to hear, this man who called himself Tony Sandate.
Looking back, what I've learned is that every one of us has a gift inside: a beautiful, uniquely precious gift to share. When I meet someone, I remember that, and I realize how absolutely beautiful everyone is.
God teaches me in such interesting ways . . .
-Eric McCarl
This is what I wrote on the CD insert in Sunset Meditation. It's a story of how I met Tony Sandate, and every word is true. This is Tony's debut CD, and contains 15 songs of solo nylon string guitar. When asked as to what 'style' of music, I can only reply that it's a cross between Spanish, Classical and full of Soul, yet words couldn't come close to how beautiful the music is. The music merely serves as a window into the soul of one of the most incredible artists of our time, Tony Sandate.
Customer Reviews:
Very Soothing.......2007-04-24
I love this cd. It's very soothing to clean house to, or take a long bath.
Hands of God.......2006-05-23
Eric McCarl is not exaggerating when he used this phrase to describe Tony Sandate. I buy many things from Amazon but have never done a review until now. This is one of the most exceptional works I've ever heard. That it moves the soul to a profound peace is an understatement. If you never buy another CD in your life, buy this one. Listen to it when it calls you. Thank you Tony for giving us your gift.
Little known JEM!.......2005-10-19
I typically don't listen to this genre of music, but I stummbled upon one of his songs one day and I've been hooked ever since! Tony Sandate is a tremendous musician with a sound that stirs the soul. His style is peaceful, yet not AT ALL 'elevator music'. I listen to this CD at work all the time and it's a calming influence on an otherwise stressful day.
Where has he been !!!! Wonderful.......2005-04-01
Only once in a life time do you stumble upon such talent as
Tony Sandate. I ask anyone who might know, please encourage him to produce some more work. Anyone who buys "Sunset Meditation" will not be disappointed
Fantastic.......2005-03-11
Where has he been? His sound is magnificent - you can feel his heart with every note. Very soulful. I would/will recommend him to everyone I know.

This is such a great cd for relaxing with a glass of wine and candles. It really makes the soul feel good.
new age/space music prime choice.......2006-11-07
Kerala Dream is a very special album of space music, akin to that heard on NPR's "Music From the Hearts of Space". The last cut, "Samadhi", is especially fine and contemplative, with a subtle sitar creating soothing melodies and a calming mood. Some of the songs have flute and bass. This album has a variety of sounds, from environmental sounds from India, to vocals and sounds from the Amazon. This album goes especially well with yoga practice and exercises. This album is a exemplary blend of musical forms from India, environmenatal, and Western styles. I use this album to go to sleep to and I frequently do not remember the last cut since by then, I am fast asleep. Very relaxing album and I highly recommend it to yoga enthusiasts.
The title says it all........2006-03-19
If you are looking for music with an Indian flavor, and a sure bet, look no further. This is great music for Yoga practice, or just relaxing. Sample Durga Shakti, and Guru Brahma and you 'll see what I mean. The sounds of Amazonian frogs and birds, the sitar, and awesome vocals make this CD unique, and just a pleasure to listen to.

Album Description
Why a tribute to artists still very much alive, well, and making records? The immediate cynical reply is commercialism, and let's be honest, what artist or record label wouldn't want to capitalize on the fan base and rich song catalogue of a band like The Pet Shop Boys? It seems almost inconceivable that this hasn't been done before, especially with the number of Depeche Mode tribute CDs in the double digits and climbing.
But with so many tribute CDs on the market - some paying homage to artists who barely have three albums under their belts - there is a growing consumer backlash against them. Too, it's hard for artists to know how best to approach these tributes. A faithful cover risks critical allegations that the artist has simply copied the song with no real vision employed, while a radical re-working will have fans clamoring that a musical classic has been butchered. It's a difficult tightrope to tread.
Still, everyone involved in this project has opted to walk that tightrope, and we're hopeful and confident that you in the audience will be entertained by the performance. Rest assured that this is not a thrown-together assembly line tribute, but something lovingly compiled over the better part of a year by a longtime PSB fan. We've even had the disc mastered at the same studio that mastered Nightlife as well as the recent re-issues to ensure the best sound quality.
Customer Reviews:
It Stinks.......2003-06-19
Unlike the mini cd by Unlimited Beat in 1990's this cd compilation of artists you've never heard of leaves much to be desired. Completely untrue to the spirit of the original songs with poor production value, I advise die hard PSB fans to let this one rot on the shelves. This rates up there with the abortive Erasure Tribute album that came out last year.
It had its moments.......2002-06-25
Being a huge fan of the Pet Shop Boys, I could not bring myself to give even a derivative work such as this a low rating. To be honest, many of the tracks are not worth listening to. But this tribute is priced low enough to make it worth it for the few solid and enjoyable tracks. Don't buy this unless you already have everything from the Pet Shop Boys as any of their albums or singles would be a better investment.
Stick to the Originals.......2002-04-15
Tribute albums are interesting for at least one of two reasons:
1) They provide worthwhile new interpretations of existing songs.
2) They confirm that the original singers were not merely fine songwriters, but also very good singers and/or arrangers.
Like the tribute album to Elton John, this definitely falls in the latter category.
Two Thumbs Up but only 4 stars because it's not PSB.......2002-04-05
After what I consider to be two huge disappointments - bilingual and nightlife (sounded way too gay for this straight couple); my wife and I found that we loved VERY INROSPECTIVE, ACTUALLY.
It has about the same hits on it as discography with a version of NYC Boy that is actually better on this CD than the original IMHO.
If you're a PSB Fan like we are, buy it, because we think it has been a nice way to be exposed to some talent we have not heard before; but through songs we know and love.
Just don't expect any of the songs to be sung in the same octave as the PSB..these are all baritones and tenors on this one.
Great Here and There.......2002-02-09
Im a PSB's fan and a Human Drama fan and I was skeptical of this cd, amazingly enough it is quite good. Im glad to see lot of the bands on here doing the songs in there own style. There are a few songs that disappointed me but for the most part it holds together nicely. And for those who say, "im the biggest PSB fan in the world," and then trash this cd, have you seen Pet Shop Boys live? That can be pretty embarrassing too.

One of my favourites of all time.......2007-06-17
This is absolutely the Pet Shop Boys at their finest. If you're thinking of getting this disc, I second the motion! You will not be disappointed. While there are only 6 tracks on the disc, they are longer than typical length and excellent pieces of musical art. Highlights are "Left To My Own Devices" and "I'm Not Scared". Have a listen!
The Pet Shop Boys At There Finest.......2006-11-02
I love this CD. The vocals and the beat of all the song are awesome. I think Introspective is the one of the best albums The Pet Shop Boys have. If your thinking of buying it do it you wont regret it and it's at a great price.
Half an album but whole in quality.......2006-07-01
`Introspective' consists of 6 tracks... short of the average 9 tracks on an album. Always On My Mind / In My House, Domino Dancing and 4 other tracks... entertaining and dynamic in sound.
6 tracks worth 15-song albums........2006-04-05
This is an album including 6 songs but feeling an eternity of pure joy and enthuasism. Opening track Left To My Open Devices should be an anthem in showing how everything in the kitchen sink may work so fittingly...from party animals to Debussy to nasal, rap-like singing to high-backvocals to strings to drum programming. It is a joyful dazzling experience of 6-minute pop indulgence.
The rest is not so different but things go suberp again in their own rendition of "I'm not Scared" in which Neil renders one of his most heart wrenching inquiries into a lying, non-faithful, elusive love, to whom he challenges and invites her/ him to fight against those "dogs"...but as usual with PSB, relations are not that eternally happy moments.
The house club version of Always On My Mind strikes a different chord with a nice interpretation, fully swelling into the majestic and piercing high energy progress of the wonderful single version.
Another hidden gem is a former B side, I want a Dog which is specially remixed by Knuckle for the album, which harbours joyful piano moments.
Introspective is the ultimate commercial-pop combination in Pet Shop Boys' ouvre, closing the circle that started with Please and peaked in Actually, which showcases Boys' brilliance how pop is done, before the duo sadly moved into more experimental waters.
One of the most glorious pop albums of all time, Introspective is ten times the price its tag bears...more accurately, it is priceless.
It's more than Alright!.......2006-03-31
This my favourite album of all time, and still in 2006 after listening to it again and again i'm still hearing new beats and hooks. This album has so many layers its incredible. A triumph in everyway.
The Mark Farrow cover is up there with anything Pete Saville has done for New Order/Joy Division. A hallmark of true greatness.
It also has the greatest piano solo ever in pop music - I Want A Dog (3:03 - 4:13). Jools Holland on The The's "Uncertain Smile" a close second.
It's Politics, Passion, Dance, Sex, Injustice, Religion and Dogs! A true classic!
Che Guevara and Debussy to a disco beat... need I say anymore!

The Pet Shop Boys Solidify Their Creative Talents.......2006-10-09
When one looks at the history of musical acts that can be categorized as "Dance Music" or "Disco", there are few acts that have achieved the success and longevity of the Pet Shop Boys. The Pet Shop Boys have been making music for over 20 years - releasing an album usually about every one or two years. In the UK, the Pet Shop Boys have consistently produced Top 10 albums. They haven't had quite the same amount of success on American shores, but nonetheless they have still maintained a solid following. It actually didn't start out like that for the Pet Shop Boys in the U.S. They actually burst on to the music scene in 1986 with a #1 song entitled "West End Girls". They would then follow "West End Girls" up with another hit - "Opportunities (Let's Make Lots of Money)". These two songs would be part of the debut - and most successful album by the Pet Shop Boys "Please". Following the release of a remix album entitled "Disco", the Pet Shop Boys released their second studio album "Actually". While this collection had hits in "It's a Sin" and "What Have I Done to Deserve This?", it would prove to be a weaker collection overall. "Actually" would for all practical purposes mark the end of the Pet Shop Boys run on the U.S. album charts. However, the Pet Shop Boys would not go away - especially in the UK. In 1988, the Pet Shop Boys released their third album, "Introspective". This album was actually considered an EP - consisting of only six songs. However these six songs would still provide around 50 minutes of music and prove that the Pet Shop Boys could keep the creative juices flowing and come back with a solid artistic effort.
"Introspective" is a different album from "Please" and "Actually" for three reasons:
1) The six songs are basically remix songs. With the exception of "Always On My Mind", these are all new songs. Each of the songs range from six to nine minutes in length. In a lot of cases, artists will usually put "studio" versions of songs on an album and then release remixes as singles. The Pet Shop Boys do the opposite here - they released the remixes on the album and then released "traditional studio versions" as singles (such as "Domino Dancing" and "Always On My Mind" - as mentioned the latter was released before "Introspective")
2) One reason why I didn't like "Actually" as much as "Please" is because it was weaker from an instrumentation standpoint. "Introspective" brings the strongest instrumentation to date (of release) by the Pet Shop Boys.
3) The songs prove to be much catchier. In addition, there isn't a bad song among the six.
Here is a synopsis of the six tracks:
"Left to My Own Devices": The song opens with an orchestral type of opening with a bit of an opera-like feel to it. This isn't something new - as "It's a Sin" on "Actually" used an orchestral opening. This segues into a very catchy dance beat that is overlaid with some of these orchestral qualities. There is just under 2 minutes of instrumentation before the vocals begin. Neil Tennant shines with the combination of both his trademark rap (on his verses) and his smooth vocals (on the chorus). These aren't going to be the deepest lyrics, but they work very well for this song.
"I Want a Dog": This song has more of an R&B type of dance feel to it. The title didn't have me doing handstands at first, but this is a case of not judging a book by its cover. Again - not the strongest lyrics, but it is the catchy instrumentation and smooth vocals of Neil Tennant that really are going to shine on this one.
"Domino Dancing": This is probably the best known of the new songs. As mentioned this is an extended remix of the song that was heard on the radio. On the surface, this seems much like a traditional Pet Shop Boys song, but if you listen - there is a definite Latin influence on parts of this song. The Latin influence is going to be the song's strong point. Tennant shines on vocals once again - his "rap" midway in the song is terrific (and that is followed by the best "Latin" sequence on this track).
"I'm Not Scared": The beginning of this song sounds like the music from a "Late Night TV movie", but this segues into a electronic "Euro Disco" type sound - that at times has a haunting song to it. This song might be the strongest instrumentation on this album - and the lyrics are definitely the strongest - making this the strongest track on the album. This song deals with someone not afraid of standing up to another person who is keeping some sort of secret.
"Always on My Mind/In My House": This is a remix of the cover of the song made popular by Elvis Presley and Willie Nelson. While this song is piggy-backed with "In My House", it is "Always On My Mind" that will dominate. Listen to the terrific rap by Neil Tennant that has the speed of the voice changed - that is the song's strong point. Despite the clever mix, I still prefer the traditional studio version.
"It's Alright": Another catchy "Euro Disco" sound with some strong lyrics. This song has the Pet Shop Boys singing about socio-political issues - proving they can write deeper lyrics. This song also benefits from stronger instrumentation - especially the keyboards.
The liner notes did not include the lyrics - and I considered that a disappointment. However, this is a Pet Shop Boys album that was overlooked by many music fans - especially those in the U.S. This proves to be a solid "Dance Music/Disco" album. This one is definitely worth checking out.
Color Bars In The House!!!.......2004-04-02
In the golden age of the #12 inch single the Pet Shop Boys deliver an album consisting of six house/disco grooves-always excellent, often extatic!"Left To My Own Devices" and "Domino Dancing" manage to be great extended mixes AND great tunes while
"I Want A Dog" pulses and gooses along nicely. The Pet Shop Boys
continue to give dance music a good name with their classy writing, witty lyricism and clever arrangments so even the mechanical nature of the synthesized music sounds pretty cool.
Highly recommended!
Can it be introspective?.......2003-10-12
The Pet Shop Boys have a habit of releasing 'minor' albums between their major releases. Between their first and second albums, Please and Actually, they released Disco, a six-track piece which featured no real new material, but rather remixes of previously released tracks (some primary, some B-side works).
Between Actually and Behaviour, the Pet Shop Boys released this album, Introspective, another minor album, with six tracks. However, this time there was new material--remixes of two previously released pieces, and four new works. This was done in an interesting format--each of the tracks on the album were in the form of 'extended dance versions', usually the kind of thing one gets when purchasing the single apart from the album. However, to get the tradition 'album' version of songs such as Domino dancing, Left to my own devices, or It's alright, one had to purchase the singles. This was an interesting marketing ploy, and extended the sales and life of this small album far beyond what it otherwise would have had.
Domino dancing was released first, and a classic Pet Shop Boys sound took over dance floors worldwide, combined with a Latin rhythm which was also in vogue during the fall of 1988. This had also perhaps the last MTV-hit video for the Pet Shop Boys; after this time, the videos released by the Pet Shop Boys no longer fit the game-show-and-rap-video dominated MTV schedule, although their videos continued to be played extensively on Euro-MTV.
Left to my own devices features more of the signature obscure-intellectual lyrics that Neil Tennant has been noted for:
I was faced by a choice at a difficult age,
would I write a book, or should I take to the stage,
but in the back of my head, I heard distant feet
Che Guevara and Debussy to a disco beat.
Simple music tracks backing introspective lyrics (perhaps this is how the album came by its title--Introspective).
I'm not scared was actually written for Patsy Kensit and Eighth Wonder (not so much of a wonder, in fact!), and was produced as a single for them by the Pet Shop Boys, before Eighth Wonder decided they did not care for the collaboration. (Take note--where are they today?) The Pet Shop Boys did their own version on this album which, while it was not released as a single, fared rather better than the Eighth Wonder version critically and in radio playtime.
It's alright was released immediately prior to their tour in the summer of 1989, actually long past the 'hot' time of the album, but served to show the enduring value of the Pet Shop Boys--that their albums can sit on the shelves for some time and lose none of their luster. Originally written by Chicago-House artist Sterling Void, this song was revitalised, had some new lyrics inserted, and became a hit for the Pet Shop Boys, their last for over a year, until Behaviour and its attendant singles began to be released late in 1990.
This is an album really for fans, but it is, like most of their albums, remarkably consistent in the look-and-feel of all songs, high quality and interesting to the ear.
"Essential New Wave / Dance".......2003-07-03
The Pet Shop Boys have an impressive catalogue of material to buy and listen to and in my opinion "Introspective" especially this version which is remastered and has an additional disc chock full of gems included is truly an amazing feat in sound. If you like new wave / dance music this is an essential recording for your collection at least I think so.
Overpriced.......2002-07-21
You can get Pet Shop Boys albums with two or three times as many songs for a dollar or two less than this. Do it.
Good music, though.

Non Profit Music (NPM), a privately owned record label, was born with the vision of helping people through humanitarian programs using the music sales of new emerging artists in the New Age and Contemporary Instrumental genres. Non Profit Music started in the Nineties when several indie music portals, such as mp3.com, provided many artists the opportunity of sharing their music while obtaining revenues from their digital downloads. As part of a personal self-commitment to humanitarian causes, one of these artists, Jorge Grundman, donated all proceeds obtained from royalties for music downloads on mp3.com to Doctors Without Borders (DWB) in Spain. After a resounding success on the Internet, Grundman decided in 2002 to create the Non Profit Music record label to officially launch his artistic career by releasing his first album We are the forthcoming past, take care of it. He also donated all profits from the sales of his album to DWB and opened new horizons to artists with similar interests. Non Profit Music artists have had continuous success online since the creation of the label. They have appeared on many mainstream TV shows, on radio and in press interviews in Spain and also internationally in Europe, Japan and, with the help of Only New Age Music, in the USA. NPM has been featured on many panels in Spain (Madrid and Barcelona) to present and explain the NPM philosophy and achievements with the support of the Spanish retail chain FNAC Music Superstores. In 2005, Non Profit Music signed an agreement of collaboration with Doctors Without Borders in Spain, and NPM made a formal donation to DWB. In addition, several humanitarian promotional activities were established including the permission to use the DWB logo on the NPM products packaging and the production of ongoing benefit concerts. Non Profit Music also has created the NPM Foundation, with a broader scope in its aim of music promotion and humanitarian help. Thus, a number of solidarity concerts have taken place with renowned artists such as Ara Malikian; and, in addition, the NPM Chamber Orchestra has been formed. Simply wonderful.......2007-06-04
This was the first album that I bought by Misty River and have since bought all their others. Their sound is unique - sort of folk, sort of country, sort of bluegrass - a unique haunting sound that is all their own. I just came home from seeing them in person and having an opportunity to talk to them. WOW. Such a treat.
Great Country/Bluegrass music.......2003-06-02
Well make that country, bluegrass, folk, you name it. These ladies cover a wide range, which makes for a great album. This is one of the few country bands being really innovative. It's nice to see artist crossing boundaries in the name of good music. My favorite off this CD is "Real As A Dream" but their cover of "If I Needed You" is fantastic.
Interesting style.......2003-02-22
This is a great band with a very interesting style. It's kind of a mix of blue grass, country, folk, and Celtic. I love relaxing to this CD on the weekend. This is one of the best new bands I've heard in quite a while.
Those wonderful voices and that banjo of Carols.......2002-05-13
First time I heard these girls, I was totally blown away. Their sound is so unique. What harmony! Could sit and listen to them forever and forever. That accordion is haunting. And Carol with that clawhammer banjo and that voice of hers! Wow. These girls are all truly truly talented. And they are super human beings. I have just about worn out this CD. I have an autographed 8 X 10 picture of them hanging in a place of honor. You definitely won't nor could you possibly be disappointed with any song on the cd. Chris and that fiddle can take you somewhere if you close your eyes. Laura on the bass. And best of all, you know they enjoy making this music for us. Such sonwriting!
Awesome Sound.......2002-04-06
My wife was tending to a patient at the local hospital when he offered her this CD. He said he's the "proud father" of one of the members of the band. We fell in love with the CD immediately. Now we fight over who gets to listen to it on the way to & from work.
This isn't a hit & miss album like most are today. Every track has it's own unique vocals and sounds; some of the best blue grass I've enjoyed. Highly recommended. Can't wait for their next album!

Album Description
The fourth full-length album from Chris Randall's Micronaut project, Europa is a brooding and introspective piece of melodic electronica. Quite a departure from the normal Micronaut sound of big-beat and house, Europa is dark and cinematic, with twisting synth lines and disjointed drum-beats vying for attention amid a thick bed of drones and found sound.
Europa features Chris Randall and Miguel Turnazas, and also adds Wade Alin (Christ Analogue, Atomica, Milkfish) to the mix with his unique programming skills. Mike Fisher (Machines of Loving Grace, Amish Rake Fight) makes an appearance with his masterful cello playing. A perfect soundtrack for a dark day, Europa is Micronaut's finest album to date.

Igloo Magazine's REVIEW.......2005-12-17
REVIEW BY: Mark Teppo at Igloomag.com
(03.03.05) Chris Randall is busy circling Jupiter, making landfall on each of the moons with his Micronaut project. The latest place he's explored is Europa and, contrary to the big beat landscape of Io and the jungle-inflected surface of Ganymede, he's found the ruins of lost civilizations and ancient waterways on Europa. He's found material for cinematic soundtracks; Europa is awash with a plethora of styles, an amalgamation of sound that builds from drum and bass, classical overture, moody electronica, dark ambience, and funky organic melodies into, well, a construct that has all sorts of echoes to the past while clearly all a-glitter with futurism.
The closest landmarks are the modern electronic soundtracks of Craig Armstrong and David Holmes, though Randall lifts what he wants from Armstrong's classical emphasis and Holmes' man on the street funk vibe and injects these elements with his recognizably sinuous energy, giving songs like "Mister Tronic" -- a textured accompaniment to the city streets at 4am filled with steam and the rumbling passage of delivery trucks -- a rolling slipperiness, a finger-snapping beat that makes you not the crazy fool with no place to go at that time of day but the restless outsider out for a prowl while the rest of the world lies dead in their beds. Miguel Turnazas provides the guitar work in "Crass But True," channeling David Gilmour over a percolating bed of dark synths and twisting electronics. "Failsafe" skitters with drum 'n' bass rhythms while Turnazas' guitar and Randall's synthesizers perform a mincing duel to the death, while "Calculate" gets down with a Bill Laswell-ian bass rhythm and a tight drum kit, forcing guitar and synthesizer to play nice together in accordance with the first law of funk: touch them in that special place that makes their butts wiggle.
Turnazas does a looping, echoing fuzz box guitar thing for "Uncompressed," releasing waves of sound that resonate with too many hours of listening to Pink Floyd records while Randall builds layers of beats and tones over the guitar work. They're in no hurry, building a track that is on the long road to trance nation and, just as they arrive, the whole construct collapses into a Middle Eastern drum explosion as if Amir Baghiri just stormed the studio. But, actually, he's been invited and they all take off together into outer space for the rousing climax of the song.
Randall, who began as and still is the man behind Sister Machine Gun, understands the power of the industrial fusion guitar, the snarling sound of an ax being overloaded with feedback and angst and delivers such a beast on "Sneer." Following the elegiac and stunning "Darkness," a track aching with cello (provided by Mike Fisher of Amish Rake Fight), Randall limps in a static-edged drum rhythm, a wandering beat that doesn't quite have the necessary self-confidence to take the stage by itself. It's waiting for the guitar, you see, waiting for that noisy soloist who struts the stage, writhing beneath his instrument, making love to all the girls in the first eight rows. Oh yes, "Sneer" it is, and I snapped the knob off on my CD player popping the volume to eleven when the first chorus hit.
If Roger Waters wanted to do a funky electronic record that would have some relevance with a generation younger than his, he'd do well to give Chris Randall a call. "Chris, my man," he'd ask, "How do I find it? Where's the pulse?" And Randall would simply say, "It's in your chakras, pal. You can pick just one or you can do as I do: light 'em all up." Europa is a landmark record for Chris Randall. In much the same way that Burn consolidated the previous Sister Machine Gun records and broke through to a new level, Europa is a whole new world for Micronaut. It's a long time until the Best Of lists at the end of the year, and I'll bet I'll have worn all the '1's and '0's off my copy of Europa by then.
