Atom-smashing super-sonic harmonic! HAHAHAHA!.......2005-06-29

I wish that radio DJs were still as amusing and charismatic as the records they spun. Pete Myers, aka The Mad Daddy, was an unique and crazy disc jockey who has become an underground legend. This CD is a great way to get acquainted with him, or just to get familiar with what rock 'n' roll radio used to be like. Not an essential comp from Norton, but a fun one worth a listen or a download. Take some of your favorite vintage 50s rock 'n' roll and shuffle it up with the tracks on this cd for a fun time. It's a shame Myers commited suicide, robbing the world of a great spokesperson for rock 'n' roll. Not as important as Wolfman Jack or Alan Freed, but still one of the greatest DJs there was. While I'm not sure if I'll listen to this more than every now and than, it's certainly interesting and fun in small doses.

The final track alone would make this disc worth having- a Shel Silverstein poem set to 17 minutes of Wavy music. All but one of the remaining tracks are stories from the counter-culture, told by the Waves himself, MC from Woodstock- "they asked me for some kind of ID and all I had was a picture of me in the San Francisco Chronicle dressed as a hamburger...". If only someone would release his compilation albums from the '60s on CD I'd be a very happy man.

My friends wondered why they were unable to find any Bruce Springsteen or Eagles or Billy Joel or Phil Collins or Paul McCartney or dozens of other "stars" in my record collection...
Well, it started in the 70's, as I was fired from a dj gig for
playing "what was good" as opposed to "what was required".The whole thing came to a head in the mid eighties when I ran across
Wavy Gravy 1 and 2....THESE RECORDINGS CHANGED EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!
If there was ANY chance that I'd allow anything mainstream into
my life, back then, well, Wavy Gravy took care of all that!!!!!!!
If you like your music polished and perfected or if your fave
artist takes 1 to 2 years to create the masterpiece, then you
are not the type of person to try this record. Stay away!! If you
have ANY sense of the absurd, or sense of humor, or, you remember
that this rock n roll stuff is supposed to be fun....give this a
try..I can't explain what you hear here or what you hear between the songs but, let me tell you this...I have hundreds of cd's..
if I could only keep two of them,the two would be Wavy Gravy 1 and 2. No Poop!

The single to a GREAT songs. It is by far one of my all time favorites. The CD that this single is from, airdrawndagger, is phenomenal. Pay no attention to the reviewer who gave this a one because of his own misunderstanding.

low fi inspiring class.......2003-04-07

one of the best compilations ever made, if like to see B,C and D-movies of the 60'ies. raw and crunchy low fidelity sound accompanied by audio sequences of film trailers - underground dance-records of the early 9ties used this stuff widely as a sample basis. also take a look at the "las vegas grind" series - but get the vinyl -- sick

Not *the* Wavy Gravy.......2002-12-23

This is music, more or less. It has nothing to do with our friend from Woodstock, the Ultimate Clown. With no information given about this disc, I fell for it. My mistake. It's an OK coaster, except for that big hole in the middle.
