This is a great album! This has all of their great hits.I highly recommend this album!

Kim Wilson solo is even better! I saw him at a
blues club by the Virginia Beach oceanfront ten
years ago. He interacted well with the crowd and
slapped me five when he came into audience. But
'Fabulous' Thunderbirds is a stretch. Good or
better than Avg. would be sufficient!

The Fabulous Thunderbirds are what real Rock n' Roll is all about! This is a really good compilation, it hits all the high spots and is a joy to listen to. The sound is very good and everything about this compilation is just great. If you love good Rock, you need this!

HOT STUFF: THE GREATEST HITS is a wonderful collection of the Fabulous Thunderbirds' later material, which combined their Texas R&B with a Memphis funk style to create a blend which succeeded in crossing over to rock radio. You should buy this anthology and the first four CDs first to start your Fabulous Thunderbirds collection.

Sizzling Hot Jazz Fiddle!!!!.......2004-03-27

Jazz violinist Stuff Smith's career actually peaked in the 1930s and enjoyed a brief resurgence in the late 1950s. Without question he is one of the most underappreciated Jazz soloists of the twentieth and now twenty-first centuries.

A master violinist who used only the last six or eight inches of the bow of the violin to produce his signature melodic slurs and pizzicato staccato sound, he delivers again on this CD reissue of his 1959 album CAT ON A HOT FIDDLE. While there isn't a track to be ignored, some performances stand out. Smith absolutely swings and glistens on the Gershwin and Gershwin composition "They Can't Take That Away From Me" and he resorts to rapid fire improvisation on the Billy Strayhorn composition (and Duke Ellington Orchestra trademark piece) "Take The A-Train."

The Brothers Gershwin compositions make up most of this splendid outing that finds Smith accompanied on nine of eleven tracks by the saucy and always swinging pianist Shirley Horn along with bassist Red Mitchell who delivers a succulent bass solo on Strayhorn's "A-Train." Smith's own considerable skills as a composer are offered on the self-penned "Blue Violin" and "Nice and Warm." And his Satchmo-esque (and occasionally humorous) vocals are offered on "Oh, Lady, Be Good" and "Somebody Loves Me." This Verve reissue is a most welcome addition to the label's steadily growing catalogue. This perfectly remastered recording should satisfy the most discriminating Jazz fan and initiate the uninitiated listener into the sheer glory of Stuff Smith. But buyer beware: Once you hear Stuff, you'll have to buy some more Stuff!!!

Excellent jazz organ work!.......2006-02-28

Released on the Enja label this shows Barbara at her most creative, along with sidemen Andy Sheppard on saxes and Mitch Watkins on guitar. The music is often blue or funky and the quality of soloing is superb. Barbara's footpedal bass work is worth the price of the CD alone! Highly Recommended.

This is the hottest stuff ever to be put out on one CD!!!.......2000-09-21

These hot black big bands from the 20's really swing with tight arrangements, and some good solos. This is the best dance/jazz music from the 20's. Highly recommeded. This stuff is also very rare dating from 1922-1928. You won't recognize any names however, it's gaurenteed to be the hottest 20's jazz you've ever heard, and even collectors won't have this rare hot jazz. Pick it up today.

check out this version of the old classic hot stuff! i dare anyone not to dance when they hear this. the singer black dahlia has released other stuff like enough is enough and on the radio but this by far is the best effort yet. this singer outdoes herself everytime. you'll wear this cd out. gets the party going.
