Generic Progressive Trance Album.......2007-06-07
Dave Seaman's first effort for Global Underground. Not surprising he was signed, as the majority of DJ's producing compilations for Global Underground around this time frame were predominantly progressive trance pushers.
Well, it was progressive trance and the highly influential superstar DJ's who spun this genre, that made the Global Underground series so popular at the time. It is also a sore spot with many of the fans of these earlier GU releases who don't seem to appreciate the newer albums.
Not much special about this two disc mix. Actually, neither disc is overly impressive in terms of creativity and track selection.
Both discs get 2/5 stars.
Argentina Gets the Real Deal!!.......2007-01-07
Buenos Aires, Argentina; what a night mixmaster Dave Seaman must have spun for those lucky people. I realize this is not live, but a sampling of what went down there; nevertheless, I could not be more impressed. In fact, I love this album far more than John Digweed's Hong Kong release and Sasha's San Francisco release - probably the two most-hyped GU releases from what I've been reading. And no doubt they are fantastic, but there is something about the music of a relatively unknown DJ (*comparitively, at least) rivaling that of two of the world's best-known and loved spinners that leads me to believe he may become, at the very least, just as famous!
This GU set is FANTASTIC. Disc 1 is so freaking smooth and beautiful, and displays some of the best mixing I have ever heard in a Global Underground release to date. Beginning with the nearly eleven minute 'Jumbo', a perfect display of the disc one's mood, Seaman wastes little time transitioning into 'Twin Town', without question one of my favorite tracks on the album. The pulsating 4/4 makes me drool for a danceclub as I sit here with my headphones. But it does not stop there at all. From Twin Town Seaman masterfully crafts a series of beautiful tracks all leading to a subtle peak that is nothing short of majestic. It could be argued that the peak of the album hits with the vocal-laced track, 'So Damn Beautiful', and this I would not disagree with. I have seen criticism of the choice to include the vocals for this track, but personally I have no problem with them - and I am *very* picky when it comes to vocal trance. Seaman ends disc one with two more great picks which provide a release from the tension built up by the preceding tracks and peak, all the while getting the listener good and ready for what has to be an equally as good, if not very different, second disc.
Disc two starts out with something special, with 'One of the People' leading into 'Life in Minds (Evolution Mix)'. By the middle of the latter track, one is well acquainted with the fact that this disc is chock-full of hard-hitting progressive trance. Fantastic hard hitting progressive trance. 'Deep Blue Dream', 'Eterna' and 'Refined Intricacy '99' lead to the powerful 'Tranquility Bay (Hell Pass Mix)' which is ANYTHING but tranquil! Tranquility Bay has to be one of the highest points that I have found on disc 2. The oddly appealing 'Nipple Fish' follows, and Seaman closes with what can only be described as a hauntingly beautiful progressive piece entitled 'Opium'... a tad fitting, considering that once the albums two discs have finished their massive aural odyssey, one is left to wander in a hazey cloud of reaquainting themselves with reality. I love this track, and can find no other amongst hundreds of possibilities that better fits the conclusion to this set.
Hands down, this is a masterpiece. A work of Progressive art. I'd love to compare it to another Global Underground release, but the only one that may come close in nature and mixing is Digweed's Sydney, but even that masterpiece is too tribal and frenetic to make such a juxtaposition redeemable. Fans of progressive masterpieces, buy this album. Of all the GU's that I own, and perhaps of all the electronic discs I own in general, this has to be... nay, IS... amongst my top three of all time.

OK, I posted this once and it didn't go through. So I guess that I am going to have to make this quick. While not many people know Seaman because he deals mainly is Aus., one of the fist sets I heard if him was GU: Buenos aires. I can agree on a few aspects on what others said. The tracks are a bit aged, even for '99 at the time. HOEVER, I must say he threw down some bombe ass vinly. I used to be a HUGE Trance-Head, and then I got into progy tech house, electro breaks and drum & bass; however, I can NEVER refuse a great Trance DJ when I hear him. Since I have seen most live greats live sets such as: Tiesto, Ferry Corsten (also known earlier as System F.) Paul Van Dyk, Oakenfold, Markus Shultz, Acosta, Messiah, Picotto, Taucher, Talla2 XLC, Judge Jules, D:Fuse, Edgar V and David Padilla (both are South Beach locals with mad talent).

I agree with all the other AMAZON reviewers that this album is the BEST among all the other GU series, even surpassing Oakenfold, Sasha, Nick Warren, etc. Dave Seaman is underrrated as a DJ perhaps because he doesn't play much internationally like Oakenfold. But when you listen to this album, you will discover your favorite DJ. Of course, his mixing skills are excellent, but, to me, he shines in his choice of music/songs. They are non-repetitive, non-cheesy, up-lifting, head-nodding, classic and new trance tunes. CD 2 is mindblowing, you can listen to that over and over and never get bored of it. I've also bought his Renaissance Awakening CD, which is phenomenal, and Cape Town, also excellent. But, I have to say, GU Buenos Aires is still my favorite--perhaps because this album turned me into a D.Seaman fan.

Dave Seaman is unquestionably one of the best DJs around. His Global Underground release at Buenos Aires proves that his versatility produces music that appeals to the all the likes within electronic music, simultaneously delivering superb track selection that is exclusive of any mainstream anthems. From Dutch Liquid's house-inspired "Rush" and "Smooth Groove" to the trancier "Deep Blue Dream", "Refined Intricacy" and "Tranquility Bay", Seaman creates what he calls "shiny, happy progressive".
I am fan of Digweed's dark, moody house. It seemed hard at the beginning to get adjusted to Buenos Aires, but once you learn to appeciate Seaman's set, you will find out that this is without a doubt one of the best releases from Global Underground. This CD is comparable to Nick Warren's Budapest, as they are both mixed at a fast-paced tempo. Anyhow, Seaman's track selection is superior to Warren's.

This album is good from start to finish, the only negative is it's kinda slow. If you like Dave Seaman renaissance or therapy sessions, I say buy it. It is more reminiscent of Nick Warren due to the slower tempo. But good sounds, good mix, and Gypsy-I trance you, Ambassador- The Fade & Christian West - Eterna are hot tracks. This gets better with each listen to. Only buy if you are a true trance fan or Seaman fan.
i don't seem to listen well enough.......2004-09-22
I really must be a really terrible listener at first. I did it to " creamfields" and "los angeles by digweed" and this one. I always give a bad rating then i listen over it and always find something i love. This album is really actually quite incredible. It gives plenty of different tunes and it doesn't let you down. Secondly you don't feel like you've heard any of these songs before , as where you when you here a different global underground album they have loads of songs from different global cds. SO this cd truly does offer a lot. IF and when you buy it listen to it at least 10 times through, then give it a week and put it back in, and i gaurentee that you will love it. This cd gets a 4.5 just cause i wish there were maybe a few harder songs, but overall it truly is great.
Buenos Seaman.......2003-12-02
You know when you buy a cd and listen to it for a while then something else comes around and well... the disc goes back on the shelf and is forgotten. Well for the last couple of days I have given this double disc heavy rotation for one reason. This comp is just chock full of good stuff. Dave is really a great mixer who IMHO has been underrated for far too long. His mixes are well thought out and the music flows seamlessly. He has no need for the all too familiar and BORING three minute bridges that don't have anything to do with the music. No. Dave seems to have a vision of where he wants to take the listener and gets them their in style. Kinda like my Porsche, which I would highly recommend if amazon had a section for that as well. But really,with Seaman on the decks he is smooth, groovy and soulful all at the same time. The disc starts with Underworld's Jumbo and moves to two quite nice selections from Dutch Liquid. Polaroid's So Damn Beautiful really brings the first set to climax and "the fade" at the end just gets you ready for more. Disc two has a bit of a stall getting started with the first couple of tracks but again builds nicely to the finale "Opium" which is cleverly faded ever so slowly giving me the listener a let down wondering what would be next. Anyway, I was right when I bought the disc the first time and and am glad I rediscovered this one. If you liked Sasha in Ibiza then give this a try. Cheers!!

Cds are one of a kind. Slightly fast than the usual progressive house sets but keeping the original tempo far away from stupid trance and rave. It has some lyric parts but "so damn beautiful" that you will surely like it. Definately a buy! Save money and buy it!

It seemed hard at the beginning to get adjusted to Buenos Aires, but once you learn to appeciate Seaman's set, you will find out that this is without a doubt one of the best releases from Global Underground. This CD is comparable to Nick Warren's Budapest, as they are both mixed at a fast-paced tempo. Anyhow, Seaman's track selection is superior to Warren's.

Generic Progressive Trance Album.......2007-06-07
Dave Seaman's first effort for Global Underground. Not surprising he was signed, as the majority of DJ's producing compilations for Global Underground around this time frame were predominantly progressive trance pushers.
Well, it was progressive trance and the highly influential superstar DJ's who spun this genre, that made the Global Underground series so popular at the time. It is also a sore spot with many of the fans of these earlier GU releases who don't seem to appreciate the newer albums.
Not much special about this two disc mix. Actually, neither disc is overly impressive in terms of creativity and track selection.
Both discs get 2/5 stars.
Argentina Gets the Real Deal!!.......2007-01-07
Buenos Aires, Argentina; what a night mixmaster Dave Seaman must have spun for those lucky people. I realize this is not live, but a sampling of what went down there; nevertheless, I could not be more impressed. In fact, I love this album far more than John Digweed's Hong Kong release and Sasha's San Francisco release - probably the two most-hyped GU releases from what I've been reading. And no doubt they are fantastic, but there is something about the music of a relatively unknown DJ (*comparitively, at least) rivaling that of two of the world's best-known and loved spinners that leads me to believe he may become, at the very least, just as famous!
This GU set is FANTASTIC. Disc 1 is so freaking smooth and beautiful, and displays some of the best mixing I have ever heard in a Global Underground release to date. Beginning with the nearly eleven minute 'Jumbo', a perfect display of the disc one's mood, Seaman wastes little time transitioning into 'Twin Town', without question one of my favorite tracks on the album. The pulsating 4/4 makes me drool for a danceclub as I sit here with my headphones. But it does not stop there at all. From Twin Town Seaman masterfully crafts a series of beautiful tracks all leading to a subtle peak that is nothing short of majestic. It could be argued that the peak of the album hits with the vocal-laced track, 'So Damn Beautiful', and this I would not disagree with. I have seen criticism of the choice to include the vocals for this track, but personally I have no problem with them - and I am *very* picky when it comes to vocal trance. Seaman ends disc one with two more great picks which provide a release from the tension built up by the preceding tracks and peak, all the while getting the listener good and ready for what has to be an equally as good, if not very different, second disc.
Disc two starts out with something special, with 'One of the People' leading into 'Life in Minds (Evolution Mix)'. By the middle of the latter track, one is well acquainted with the fact that this disc is chock-full of hard-hitting progressive trance. Fantastic hard hitting progressive trance. 'Deep Blue Dream', 'Eterna' and 'Refined Intricacy '99' lead to the powerful 'Tranquility Bay (Hell Pass Mix)' which is ANYTHING but tranquil! Tranquility Bay has to be one of the highest points that I have found on disc 2. The oddly appealing 'Nipple Fish' follows, and Seaman closes with what can only be described as a hauntingly beautiful progressive piece entitled 'Opium'... a tad fitting, considering that once the albums two discs have finished their massive aural odyssey, one is left to wander in a hazey cloud of reaquainting themselves with reality. I love this track, and can find no other amongst hundreds of possibilities that better fits the conclusion to this set.
Hands down, this is a masterpiece. A work of Progressive art. I'd love to compare it to another Global Underground release, but the only one that may come close in nature and mixing is Digweed's Sydney, but even that masterpiece is too tribal and frenetic to make such a juxtaposition redeemable. Fans of progressive masterpieces, buy this album. Of all the GU's that I own, and perhaps of all the electronic discs I own in general, this has to be... nay, IS... amongst my top three of all time.

OK, I posted this once and it didn't go through. So I guess that I am going to have to make this quick. While not many people know Seaman because he deals mainly is Aus., one of the fist sets I heard if him was GU: Buenos aires. I can agree on a few aspects on what others said. The tracks are a bit aged, even for '99 at the time. HOEVER, I must say he threw down some bombe ass vinly. I used to be a HUGE Trance-Head, and then I got into progy tech house, electro breaks and drum & bass; however, I can NEVER refuse a great Trance DJ when I hear him. Since I have seen most live greats live sets such as: Tiesto, Ferry Corsten (also known earlier as System F.) Paul Van Dyk, Oakenfold, Markus Shultz, Acosta, Messiah, Picotto, Taucher, Talla2 XLC, Judge Jules, D:Fuse, Edgar V and David Padilla (both are South Beach locals with mad talent).

I agree with all the other AMAZON reviewers that this album is the BEST among all the other GU series, even surpassing Oakenfold, Sasha, Nick Warren, etc. Dave Seaman is underrrated as a DJ perhaps because he doesn't play much internationally like Oakenfold. But when you listen to this album, you will discover your favorite DJ. Of course, his mixing skills are excellent, but, to me, he shines in his choice of music/songs. They are non-repetitive, non-cheesy, up-lifting, head-nodding, classic and new trance tunes. CD 2 is mindblowing, you can listen to that over and over and never get bored of it. I've also bought his Renaissance Awakening CD, which is phenomenal, and Cape Town, also excellent. But, I have to say, GU Buenos Aires is still my favorite--perhaps because this album turned me into a D.Seaman fan.

Dave Seaman is unquestionably one of the best DJs around. His Global Underground release at Buenos Aires proves that his versatility produces music that appeals to the all the likes within electronic music, simultaneously delivering superb track selection that is exclusive of any mainstream anthems. From Dutch Liquid's house-inspired "Rush" and "Smooth Groove" to the trancier "Deep Blue Dream", "Refined Intricacy" and "Tranquility Bay", Seaman creates what he calls "shiny, happy progressive".
