    Album Description

Wow! Both individual and groups of young children can't stop moving to these fine & gross motor songs. They can be used with props such as cones, balls, and ropes, or simply to promote imaginative play. Children are kept moving while they play circle games, ride the rope, build a bridge, find the colors, discover body parts, stack, and more. The activities focus on listening skills, physical coordination, motor skills, team work, body identification, building self-esteem, and following instructions.

This collection includes 16 English songs, with 7 Spanish versions, from the award winning producers of the popular "Smart Songs" music series.Lending his talent to this project is actor, singer, Tim Russ (Tuvok) of the Star Trek: Voyager television series.

Also available from Abridge Club: "Smart Songs for Kids 1", "Smart Songs for Kids 2", "Movin' & Shakin' for Youngsters", "Hoppin' & Boppin' for Youngsters", and "Animal Romp & Stomp".

3 out of 5 stars Not so great!!.......2007-03-24

listen people i appreciate texas country and good guitarists as much as anyone. don't get me wrong, monte has talent with the guitar, but he's not at the point where he can cover stevie ray and make him proud. he should stick to his own stuff. his chords are not perfect, sometimes he seems out of tune, and to be perfectly honest i don't know how anyone can say he has a good voice, good guitar player, good live show, but maybe he should step back and let someone else to the heavy singing, he's just not cut out for it.

5 out of 5 stars God Given Talent.......2006-03-02

Monte Montgomery is in my mind the most talented singer, songwriter, guitarist that I personaly have ever heard. He is the real deal. He gets tons of attention for his guitar playing, but folks, what U need to grasp is his SONGWRITING. It is amazing.

This is a great primer Monte album. It is stripped down, and although it is not representive of his rocking live shows, it does give a needed focus to his vocals and stand alone talent as a guitarist. Of course Phil Bass, long time drummer sets in on this as well, and Monte and Phil are a magical pair.

    5 out of 5 stars A Must See Entertainer!!!.......2005-12-09

We first caught Monte on Austin's Music Network. Since then, we've caught his shows when he's home in Austin and always brings friends to check him out. This CD gives you a sample of some of his amazing guitar work--but seeing him live is AWESOME--he REALLLLLY rocks and is a great live performer! You can check out his tour dates at: [...]

5 out of 5 stars THE Best Monte Album.......2004-05-02

This is a great cd! Monte really knows how to put on a live show & the studio albums just can't capture that energy. Monte, on guitar & vocals, & Phil, on drums, are really ON! "Sara Smile", the Hall & Oates cover, is my favorite song on the album, but "Lie to Me" & "Took Too Long" aren't too far behind. This is one of my 2 favorite cd's that I own tied with "On & On" by Jack Johnson.

    5 out of 5 stars A great live performance.......2004-01-31

This very well-recorded cd is done in the spirit of the MTV unplugged series-- just Monte plus percussion. He manages to show off the fact that he can make a two-piece sound like a four piece. Very pure recording, the guitar sounds great, one of the best live albums I've ever heard, up there with the Pretenders' Isle of View, Clapton Unplugged.

3 out of 5 stars Carrack Gets Into the 80s Pop Groove With Groove Approved.......2005-08-12

Perhaps more so than on any other Paul carrack solo project, Groove Approved represents the influence of the more commercial pop success of his work with Mike and The Mechanics in the mid to late 1980s. Released after the first two successful Mechanics albums (the self-titled 1985 album and Living Years), Groove Approved completely sheds Carrack Pub Rock sound and ventures on for a more period '80s pop feel far beyond what his previous solo project, One Good Reason, did.

That being said, while the album has a somewhat dated sound when listened to now, there is some great song writing on this record. "Dedicated" is one of Carrack's best ballads, "After The Love Is Gone" is another great track, and the catchy pop single "I Live By The Groove" is hard to shake from memory. Also of note, fellow Mechanics vocalist Paul Young appears on back-up vocals on "Tip of My Tongue!"

While Groove Approved is not Paul Carrack's best solo album, it is a great period piece of '80s pop music and holds it's own with a few really good tracks. If you enjoyed the first couple of Mike and The Mechanics albums or his One Good Reason solo album, this disc will not disappoint you. If you find yourself more interested in Carrack's more recent soulful-pop solo albums, this album may not be as palatable.

    5 out of 5 stars Colorado's finest.......2006-01-15

I'm going to try and give as much information about this release as I possibly can, becuase Amazon doesnt seem to be on the ball. Bright Channel is a three-piece band out of Denver. This 2004 self titled release is thier only record to date.

The record is on Flight Approved, a label originally started to release PTERANODON's stuff. It was mixed and recorded by Steve Albini. Bright Channel is Jeff Suthers on guitar and vocals, Shannon Stein on bass, and Brian Banks on drums. "Bright Channel" was named Radio 1190(the Colorado University student radio station)'s #1 record of 2004 (yes, it was ranked over The Arcade Fire's Funeral).

Having said all that, this is a great record. The band is primarily revered for its live performances, but the record flows seamlessly and the music doesnt have a dull minute. The sound is hard to discribe. It sounds like slower(mostly) distorted pop-punk with more unique lyrics. I guess it could be grouped into "Shoegazer".

      5 out of 5 stars Demon's finest work........2004-03-30

Demon, British Standard Approved (Clay, 1984)

The majority of Demon fans you're likely to meet (what few of us still remember who they were) are likely to start and end any conversation regarding the band with their first two discs, after which it's generally considered they went downhill (sold out to get a contract with America's Atlantic Records, I think the argument goes). I, on the other hand, think British Standard Approved, the band's fourth disc, was their crowning achievement. Years ahead of its time, mixing progressive rock, pop, and (yes) country with the band's signature biker metal, British Standard Approved took the already-stagnating New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement and gave it a new direction; pity no one followed.

From the very first notes of "Cold in the Air," you have to wonder whether this is the same band who recorded Night of the Demon and The Unexpected Guest. It is, in fact. BSA was the last album Demon recorded before the untimely death of their resident guitar god, Malcolm Spooner. But the ominous blowing-wind-and-eerie-noises and crunchy three-chord guitar work have given way to expressive keyboards, more delicate melodies, and what could well pass for a positive outlook if you squint the right way. Obviously, something happened to Demon vocalist Dave Hill between 1982's "Strange Institution" ("they gave you a mountain to climb, but left you no will to survive") and 1984's "From the Outside" ("it's up to you to see it through...") to give him a radically different view on life as we know it.

What didn't change over the course of the band's career with Spooner, though, was their ability to write dead catchy music. Hill's lyrics are custom tailored for singing along, if a bit cheesy at times, and Spooner studied at the School of Inspiring Millions of Air Guitarists. What do you get when you cross biker metal with new-age happy pop-rock? British Standard Approved, Demon's most accessible album, and one that has been highly underrated over the years. The recent reissue of Demon's stuff is already heading out of print, so pick this one up fast and spend some time wondering why an album this great never got any radio airplay. *****

1 out of 5 stars It's claimed to be Demon, but I'm not sure..........2003-03-21

      I'm warning you!
If you think this album will sound even a tiny bit like "The unexpected guest" you're in for a very big and unpleasant surprise. I can't believe it's the same band. I don't like it all and I strongly suggest you pre-listen before buying it!

5 out of 5 stars Weird but awesome.......2003-01-20

I think this album is exceptional cause it goes from the bombastic passages on some tracks well known from their album 'The Plague', cool weird atmospheric sounds of some tunes, to nice melodic and more commercial tracks. This an awesome eclectic (metal-prog?) album, showing some of the best Demon's, and a nice tribute/legacy from Mal Spooner. Its easy to identify a little british-industrial-foggy-Floyd style. Difficult to categorize, it's just good music. Never heard the new bonus track (the other two are live reprises).

4 out of 5 stars Worthy introduction to former greats of uk indie music scene.......2003-10-25

Some ten years later than anticipated a fine compilation appears by these former regulars of the UK indie chart.

What you get here is 7 tracks from the 1st album and a 7 assorted singles. It makes for slightly uneasy listening: the tracks from Taste are mostly satisfyingly brutal chunks of raw noise. I particularly enjoyed the howling guitar sound of I Fall She Screams and the swirling noise of Anticipating Nowhere.

The remaining tracks come from the Creation singles and the change in direction is stark. On the sleeve notes of The House of Love's Creation compilation, label boss Alan McGee writes how everyone had been doing lots of LSD around the recording of their first album and I wonder if perhaps he had fed the Telescopes some kind of hallucinogen as the remaining tracks have a more psychedelic feel, complete with flower-power inspired lines like "Fill my soul with love" and various ohhs and ahhs. These songs range from the mediocre (Never Learn Not To Love) to the inspirational (Celeste).

Overall though it's a very worthwhile purchase, especially as Taste is once again unavailable. However, it could have been better. To Kill A Slow Girl Walking is excluded while the rather ordinary b-side Pure Sweetest Ocean, complete with very long sample of whale music is included. A further compilation including the early singles, plus Peel Sessions would be an ideal follow-up.

This is one of my all time favorite albums. I remember hearing it on the radio (all of it) and walking to Budget Tapes and Records (2 miles) the very next singing "You Beat the Hell Outta Me" all the way. The DJ who played it called "Airport" the song of the year. He may have been right but I was also partial to "Forget Abou You" and "Sensation". What agreat album. What are you waiting for?
