Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Fabulous for any Broadway-lover.......2007-01-30

Packs into 5 CD's a sampling of Broadway tunes from the 20's thru (almost) today, mostly from original cast recordings. Includes not just well-known hits, but also some lesser-known gems. Sound quality is first rate, booklet is informative too. Have given this as a gift to several friends with rave reviews.

5 out of 5 stars Top Shelf.......2007-01-04

This is THE definitive collection of Broadway hits. I have other collections, and none of them measure up. A great deal of care was obviously taken in compiling and presenting this box set. It covers a lot of ground, starting with some long-forgotten but still very enjoyable hits from the days of yore, and finishing with present-day favorites. To the best of my knowledge, the recordings are by those who made them famous. You won't be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars TERRIFIC CD'S.......2006-03-23

THESE BROADWAY MUSICALS CD'S ARE A BROADWAY LOVERS DREAM. WITH EACH SONG, MEMORIES COME FLOODING BACK. BOTH THE FAMILIAR AND THE FORGOTTEN SONGS ARE A TRUE LISTENING PLEASURE. IF YOU LIKE BROADWAY, YOU'LL LOVE THIS SET.

The Music is great and has Broadways greatest treasures like "Memory""People""With One Look""Give my regards Too Broadway" just to name a few of this numerous cd set with over 100 songs. This is a great buy if you like musicals or The music of Broadway

5 out of 5 stars Great Compilation!.......2005-01-17

If you are a fan of the Broadway Musicals, this is a collection that you should purchase. Since I got the 5 disc set I've enjoyed listening to it. The majority of the songs are done by the original singers. The collection is priceless considering that you will have over 100 songs from popular musicals since the beginning of Broadway

Well, all of you guys slagging off this album better "Run For Ya Crew", because as you know "Richard Blackwood is coming for you", and you don't stand a chance because "RB runs the show". Those of you who are thinking of buying this CD are no doubt basing your enthusiasm on the two classic singles released. "Mama-Who Da Man" is a touching epic story of a man who grew from a class clown to a legend who at least one man (Richard Blackwood) believes to be one of the most talented men in the industry. Blackwood uses a slick combination of metaphores and imagery to prove to us that no less an authority then his mom believes him to be the man. "1,2,3,4, Get with the wicked" is a rallying call for a generation with Blackwood weaving his magic around the delicate tapestry of Deetah's smooth yet slightly sandy raps. But my favourite track is the final one (if you don't count the generous second helping of "mama"), which points towards a future for RB as a Poignant folk-rapper. "They Don't Know Me" showcases Richard's tender lyric about the burden of being a seemingly talent-free celebrity who has to put up with constant press rumours that he never eats chicken and rice. This really makes you feel sorry for Richard. Sure, you may be struggling to support your two children, but Richard has to interview people and is hassled by egotistical directors to read entire lines again. No matter who you are, no matter who you be, no matter who you are, you don't know me. With those words RB closes his debut, and I close my review.

1 out of 5 stars Worst Album ever.......2005-02-18

Richard blackwoods debut album is undoubtedly one of the worst cd's iv ever heard. Songs such as '1,2,3,4 get with the wicked' and Mama who da man are so unbelievably poor im amazed anyone agreed to release the album in the first place. Blackwoods rapping talent is non-existent throwing any word which rhymes into meaningless sentences and pasting on a cheesy beat. There has clearly been no thought put into the making of the cd as its just a quick cash in by the MTV presenter. Mr Blackwood you should be ashamed at releasing such a travesty, no one deserves to listen to this tripe.

5 out of 5 stars GET WITH THE WICKED.......2003-06-12

People say his music is like Will Smith but thats not true.

Holy moly, talk about rap! Let me tell you right now that Richard Blackwood delivers on his promise that you'll "Love To Hate This"; I do love to hate it, wow! The greatness of Blackwood can only be described as questionable at best, what a man.
The first time I heard of Richard Blackwood I quickly forgot him, and the next time I heard of him I forgot him almost instantly. But now that I'm in possession of his masterwork I have no hope of forgetting him, and no reason to purchase another CD ever again in my whole lifetime ever!
I was going to buy a CD autochanger for my Ford Trevscort, but what's the point when there's only one album I'm interested in listening to? Since opening my ears, eyes, heart and bowels to Richard Blackwood's sweet rap my life has been the very definition of woeful. My friends think I'm a raving nut job, a veritable psychotic social misfit, but they are missing out on classic rap tunes such as "Mama Who Da Man", and let's not leave out the ultimate in rap expression "1234 Get With The Wicked".
Richie's songs make my knees go weak, my tongue hang out and my swangle go stiff with excitement!
Allow yourselves to be taken in and beaten by this man's groundbreaking rap talent, he is da bomb!

5 out of 5 stars RB runs the shooooow!!!.......2003-05-29

When Richard Blackwood and his team of brain damaged baboons wrote this album little did they know how many wild eyed rap music fans would be mass debating over these hits. The genius on display is nerve shattering, Richard's egotistic rapping flows from track to track like fine red wine vinegar.
The smash single "Mama Who Da Man" evokes pain and pleasure in equal measure. RB's smooth grooves tell the story of a misunderstood hip-hop master that feels a lack of love from his own mother, only to explode into a death defying chorus that tells the listener that in fact his mum thinks he's the man!
The highlight of this risible collection is "1234 Get With The Wicked", a head spinning exposé of the football riots during the 1998 World Cup in France. A truly gut spilling epic of a rap vendetta.
On the whole "You'll Love To Hate This" is an album you can be proud to pass on to your grand children in years to come, providing you wipe it first with a damp cloth.
