3 out of 5 stars Pretty good but nothing spectacular.......2006-08-03

I recently came across Distorted Reality's music on the internet. After hearing a few samples of their songs, I decided to get their cd "Daydreams and Nightmares". I have to admit that I was not completely impressed with what I heard. First of all, I don't like it when bands tack on remixes. That should be kept completely separate for another cd. The remixes on "Daydreams and Nightmares" were generic as generic gets. I was not impressed. Secondly was it really necessary to include the live mix of "Rebel Yell"? Sorry but that should not have been recorded at all. The first ten songs are original tracks. Some were pretty good. I really dug"Get a Clue" and "Forever". Great overall club songs to dance to. The only ballad I liked on the cd was "I Am Waiting". The other ballads were boring and lifeless. As for the duo's cover of Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell", nothing beats the original. The production on the cd was pretty shoddy. I hope for the next album, the band doesn't include remixes and they pick up the pace on the songs. The beats were too slow for me on a lot of the songs. Here's hoping for improvement.

5 out of 5 stars Techno Addict.......2006-07-26

This is a good addition to your techno collection.

I can't identify any specific song that really rocked me. However, I can say they they all did, from start to finish.

I am constantly searching for great techno bands. I think a group is really good if I feel I should buy a second or third CD from that same group. Bottom line:I would buy another CD from Distorted Reality.

It's not harsh like some industrial stuff I've listened to (e.g. Combichrist or Wumpscut), yet it's not generic background techno blather either (Synth Pop I think they call it). I've found web sites that catogorize electronic music by group and sub-genre, but they are not all consistent. So let me put it this way, Distorted Reality falls in-between. I would put them between Neurotic Fish or Mind-in-a-box and a band like Ego Likeness (which I found to be a little softer but still good).

5 out of 5 stars Great album........2006-04-11

Awesome album. Its amost better than the first cd. I just wish they would have left off "Tag fur Tag (feat. Andreas Meyer/Forma Tadre)" He has a terrible voice. Other than that I would say this cd is one of the best of the year.

4 out of 5 stars Lingering Words Of Ecstasy.......2005-06-18

I had "Fever" on a compilation disk, then I heard "Super Crush" and I was hooked! This album really surprised me, I didn't expect it to be soo good! Im quite a fan of Deep Red, but there seemed to be a lack of quality in the production of a lot of their stuff, not that was a problem, it sort of made the music what it was. This time around there is a slight alteration with the approach to the music. Martha's perfect, beautiful, powerful and clear vocals with synth-pop sensibily, the edgy dancy elements of EBM and the songs catchy as hell, while remaining profound. It's a perfect album recipe and fits quite well into the scheme of things at Nilaihah records! Martha gives an A-Grade performance, I would love to see her push the boundaries on the next album.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing!.......2004-03-10

Definite must have! Great female vocalists are hard to find in the scene, but Distorted Reality showcases a unique female vocalist with songs ranging from the emotional and heartfelt to driving EBM beats that make you want to get up and dance!

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding Debut CD!!!.......2004-03-09

Distorted Reality is making headlines throughtout the world. This is one band you don't want to miss out on. Their musical arrangements are unique and original and it is accompanied by powerful yet soothing vocals. Martha, former female vocalist from Deep Red, is one of the better female singers I've heard in quite some time...in any genre of music! It's a crowd pleaser and I have witnessed it to be very club friendly each time I spin tracks such as "In My Dream" and "Fever". If you are into hard pounding beats with beautifully arranged melodies, this is the CD to get!

5 out of 5 stars Sweet!!!!!.......2004-03-09

Had the fortune of catching them in Tampa with Psyche and lemme tell you they put on a better show!! It is always great to see a band sound as good live as they do on cd. Great tracks from slow to more up tempo beats, this cd has it all. Can't wait to hear what they come up with next. Defintiely would recommend this cd to anyone.

3 out of 5 stars Great debut.......2003-08-12

Distorted Reality is a very good band. This is their first album out in the USA and it is very well produced. The music is some of the highest quality synth music around. The sounds flow fluent through out. The vocals are soothing to sultry. Being fronted by a female vocalist is different for this genre. Where few female fronted bands are actually any good. This would be up there with the only other really good female fronted synth band (and label mate's) The Azoic. I would tell anyone to buy this album.

3 out of 5 stars fairly good drum n bass.......2000-07-01

Out of the 7 tracks on this CD, I only cared for 3 (two of which are the same song but remixed differently). The best track on the CD by far is Paradox's "A certain sound." If you've heard of one of the tracks on this CD before and absolutely have to get it, then it may be worth the dollars.

Here is the track listing--it's missing from above:

1.) Nemesis Feat. DJ Kane - System 2.) Paradox - A Certain Sound 3.) Future Forces Inc. - The Killer 4.) Genotype - Toxic 5.) Monochrome - Natural Auras 6.) Paradox - Some Kind Of Illusion 7.) Future Forces Inc. - The Killer
