Album Description
A lavish 6 Disc box set by one of the most legendary (almost ) super groups of the seventies, featuring Scott Morgan ( Rationals ) Fred ' Sonic ' Smith (MC5) Scott 'Rock Action' Asheton (Stooges) . The only product the band ever released was a 7" Single of "City Slang" ( which was on both sides mono & stereo). The original of which commands ridiculous prices in the collectors field. The band themselves have all contributed as well as the estate of Fred Smith. Contains interviews with existing band members, unseen photographs from Bob Matheu (Creem), Sue Rynski and various shots from the private collection of the band themselves. Due to the lack of material available to date, demand for this box set on the Easy Action web site has been unprecedented. Design of this set is being handled by ex Rhino art director and Grammy award winner Rachel Gutek

Gets Better with Every Listen..........2007-05-29
If you are a fan of blues-based, dirty garage-rockin' Detroit R&B flavored Rock & Roll, this is it! Members of a couple legendary bands (and a couple lesser-knowns) got together and made some great music...for a little while, anyways.
If you are lookin' for soundboard-quality, perfect-fidelity live footage, you ain't gonna find it here. These recordings are definitely low-fi, but they sound fantastic. Some of these shows have circulated on bootleg tapes for some time, but here we have a few of 'em all together in a great lookin' box and extensive history/liner-notes. Fred was the reason the band never really moved beyond "local" status. According to the liner notes, it appears he got sorta bored and wanted to move on. After the band broke up, he and wife Patti Smith both went on hiatus for a fair amount of time.
Is it worth $70? Well, that's debatable. What is NOT debatable is that you have hours of listening enjoyment supplied by the drum-crushing beats that Rock Action Asheton provides (always underappreciated), Fred 'Sonic' Smith's chainsaw riffs, and Scott Morgan's soulful crooning. This is definitely a piece of Detroit history and if you like that style of balls-out garage rock, you found a real gem.
NOTE: The band minus Sonic Smith backed up Iggy on his '78 tour of Europe. Some of those shows are floating around the internet...
This is Rock n Roll.......2007-05-11
Amazing is pretty much all I can say about this box set, American Rock n Roll at it's finest, Just enough of that Detroit dirt & sleaze that we all know and love, But also the technical musicianship of Fred "Sonic" Smith that gives it the seriousness & power that cannot be duplicated. It has been said that City Slang is the perfect rock n roll song, I'd have to agree.
A No-Brainer.......2007-04-23
If you love rock and roll, this is a no-brainer.
If you loved the MC5, this is a no-brainer.
If you listen to Fred Sonic Smith and hear one of the greatest guitarists in the history of rock and roll, this is a no-brainer.
The Second Chance show (disc 4) is worth the cost of the boxset alone.
CITY SLANG from the Second Chance show is worth the cost of the boxset alone.
Can you see where I'm going with this?
How these guys flew under the radar for so long is beyond me.
After I listened to this, I wanted to throw away most of my CD collection, cuz it paled in comparison.
I didn't, of course, but...
In a perfect world, I'd make copies of this and give one to every teenager out there and tell him/her..."This is what rock and roll is all about. You can thank me later."
Think about it...Sonic Smith and Scott Morgan on guitars, Gary Rasmussen on bass, and if that ain't enough, Scott "Rock Action" Ashton on drums.
Turn it up and turn it loose...this is rock and roll at its best!
Classic Detroit Rock from the crypt.......2007-01-09
Before you buy this box set, be sure that you have all of the classic Stooges/Iggy Pop, MC5, Mitch Ryder, and any other favorite Detroit recordings. Now if you are still hungry for that hard gritty urban sound BUY THIS BOX. Four live shows and two discs of various studio pieces all add up to a lost treasure. Like most treasure some pieces are more polished than others but this is a find for fans of the Motor City sound.
The earlier recordings sound fine in the car and the later live shows pass audiophile muster. I have to pay careful attention not to turn it up so loud that I fry my Vandersteens.
Straight Forward Rock!.......2007-01-03
I was a little sceptical of a box set w/ mostly live performances b/c I never really got into "Live" too much but this blew me away. Unlike many bootleg type material (particularly lots of Iggy stuff out there thats not worth it) the sound quality is great. The production all around is A+ and if you like good balls to the wall rocknroll you cannot go wrong w/ this CD.

GREAT ROCK ALBUM!!!.......2005-05-28
Excellent rock album by ex-mr. big lead vocalist. Awesome vocals and words in all songs. Expect nothing but highlights in this album. A lot better than his previous solo efforts, though different than the mr. big albums. I highly reccommend it.

Customer Reviews:
Classic material as performed by the original Destroy All Monsters lineup.......2005-12-31
This is the 25th anniversary live album by the influential punk-not-punk-noise band Destroy All Monsters.
This material is absolutely classic and essential for anyone interested in art rock. Destroy All Monsters is not a punk band, they're more post-punk although they predated punk itself. It's pure art is what they are. Classic noise feasts like Peener Budder Mudder Fugger and even more classic Niagara singing Kim Gordon-style on You Can't Kill Kill, when Kim was twelve. She stands right up there with Cosi Fanni Tutti and Kim as the strangest and sexiest female rockers in history. Destroy All Monsters spins baroque kitsch on busted sears bought keyboards circa 1975. If you can imagine elevator music infused with the psychoanalysis of a serial killer running on a low battery, then you can imagine what Destroy All Monsters sounds like. This is a terrific and weird art band that have influenced countless art bands in their wake. And an absolute must for any serious musical provocateur.
Haunting.......2002-11-02
i have been interested in D.A.M. for quite some time and well finally i got my hands on this cd. at first i thought D.A.M. were gonna be nerdy but after i listened to this album i got a whole new perspective . Destroy All Monsters is a GREAT band . some songs are very haunting and some are disturbing but most of all they all kick...they all rock . not to mention Niagara the bands crazy singer hahahahahahahaha
Not bad, but 3cd set is a lot better.......1998-10-24
The Silver Anniversary album is NEW stuff, done in the 90's. The 3CD package, soon to be reissued in early '99--supposedly--has tons of the old stuff, and is amazing. If you can, get both, but I'd wait for the box set to hear them for the first time.

Customer Reviews:
a little something-something.......2002-08-06
Having never heard this band before, I opened the jewel case with some trepidation. However, I was not seriously disappointed. Consider the musicians: former members of the Stooges and the MC5. Add one unique vocalist. Insert into the late '70s music scene and stir vigorously. On the surface, DAM sounds like the Stooges with a female vocalist. But I have listened to the CD several times, and it's growing on me....Major complaint: It's too damn short! Only seven tracks. Now I'm thinking about the Silver Wedding Anniversary...
