5 out of 5 stars The Beat of the Bay.......2006-11-12

I listen to energy 92.7 daily, and I love them.Subsuequently,I feel the same way for the CD.

I've heard many of these songs before on the station and have the hardest time finding the albums in store,so it was nice to have all of them in one CD.

If you love dance, trance,or just plain good music buy this CD! It was well worth the purchase.

    Album Description

Pacha Music is known for releasing the best House Music mixed by the world's best DJs. This Pure Pacha album is no exception and this double disc release proves again that the label keeps up with all dance floor demands while being always innovative.

Pete Tong's consummate involvement in all areas of dance music has made him a genuine household name in the UK. Some of his most acclaimed work is assembling the music for movies such as The Beach, Human Traffic and 24 Hour Party People. As a DJ, Tong is enjoying increasing international popularity world wide and especially in the US. Tong's success in the States began when he launched the Essential Mix series and has grown substantially since.

Pete Tong's mix represents the sexy house sounds you would hear at the successful Pacha club in Ibiza. The CD includes the summer mega hits: "Shout" (remix of the Tears for Fears 80's hit) and the even more classic "Flashdance" remixed by Deep Dish!

    2 out of 5 stars Ehh...........2006-02-14

This is the first volume in the series that I've purchased and probably the last. I Figured I'd give it a chance at a quick glance at the store. It features some reputable artisits such as Ferry Corsten, Armin, Paul Van and Tiesto. However, it also features some of their not-so-hot remixes. There's no real muscle to it. The only song I actually enjoyed was Angel, by Jezper Sonderlund.

    3 out of 5 stars good stuff.......2004-11-08

I try to listen to respectible and well done music. However, I set my standards for music aside when I listen to Trance. The music is so dramatic and accesible it's impossible to not sit back and just enjoy it. I started playing techno and dance music on my iPod while I skated some months ago and I've found that trance is the best for skating music. I'm really tempted to make a skatevideo using this stuff.

If you want to enjoy a fun record with a bunch of sings that hit the mark just right and some that sadly miss then get this one.

4 out of 5 stars Hmmmmmmm... Not Bad.......2004-05-25

Here is the third of the Pure Trance series. Eighteen more tracks of these nice trance songs. Even though a lot of the songs here sound all similar, it's still a good compilation. This album is un-mixed. This is the kind of album where there are g a p s in between the songs, instead of the mixing where the songs sound like they've runintogether.

Pure Trance 3 contains songs like the Kansai remix of Jan Johnston's 1995 trance hit "Calling Your Name." It's still a good remix of a song from nearly a decade ago. There's also Moby's "In My Heart." I've gotten addicted to this track, it's one of my favorites on here. Another good trance song on here is Riva's "Time Is The Healer," remixed by Armin Van Buuren. Armin Van Buuren's one of my favorite DJs. I'm gonna see him in an interview with XY-TV at the Virgin Megastore in Boston. This compilation also contains "And Then They Start To Dance" by DJ Snow Man. You hear a guy whispering "And then... they start... to dance..." with echoing. There's whispering echoes in Dito's "Sky" as well (Of course it's a different vocalist). Another nice trance song. My favorite out of all the tracks is "Welcome 2 Wonderland" by Y.O.M.C. The vocalist in the song says "Can you hear it? Can you feel it? Can you see it? Close your eyes. Welcome to wonderland!" in a deep bold voice. I would answer "yes" to the questions he asks. Other songs include "Angel" by Jezper Soderland, ATB's "I Will Not Forget", the Paul Van Dyk mix of Second Sun's "Empire", "One With The Universe" by O.S.I.R.I.S., DJ Dark Raven's "I Believe", and more.

This isn't a bad compilation. Good thing I listened to this album before I made my decision to buy it or not. After listening for myself, I bought it and I'm happy I did so. Should I do the same for volume four if they release it? Might be some more good stuff on that album as well as this one.

    Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Weak material, poorly compiled.......2007-06-18

Unlike E'Dude (2 comments down), I don't particularly care if the music isn't a continuous mix, however, the average 2nd grader could have extracted these tracks from the original source with more polish. The tracks fade in and out in a way that almost emphasizes that they are being lifted from longer ones. (Imagine a song that starts fading just as someone begins to sing. That doesn't actualy happen here but it should give you an idea of what I'm talking about.)

Beyond that, the music itself is boring. There are no catchy hooks, no electronic manipulations that you haven't heard a thousand times already, and they all sound aimless and similar. Looking for something with material on it that reminds you of one of those "Oh my god!" moments on the dance floor? Don't waste your time looking here.

4 out of 5 stars Best Trance CD I've stumbled upon in a while........2007-05-16

I've been looking for some new good Trance for a while and I found this. It seems to be getting harder and harder to find worthwhile Trance that isnt polluted by annoying high pitched female vocals, so this was a nice treat.

For those of you like me who prefer their trance to be all about the beats and sounds and not about the distracting lyrics then this is for you. (you can probably already tell I'm not a fan of very much vocals in my Trance)

Another thing I love about this CD is that it features songs and artists that probably not very many people know about. It's not jam packed with the overplayed "Top 40" of Trance music like many other Trance CDs are. It was quite refreshing.

I'd reccommend this CD to anyone who is looking to discover new awesome songs and rare artists in this genre.

    1 out of 5 stars It's not sequentially mixed.......2007-04-25

I was pretty disappointed, though not surprised at the fact that this Cd is not sequentially mixed, meaning that the songs are not blended. So each track is interrupted by a pause, just like when listening to a Cd of any other genre. But most dance fans , like me, don't find any sense in listening to a dance/trance Cd if it's not a continous, non-stop selection of blended tracks from beginning to end. Just like when you are in a dance club. To top it off, the songs fade rapidly. It gives you the impression that the recording engineer wanted to "split" from the studio as soon as possible. The only thing that saves this Cd from getting 0 stars ( aside from the fact that it's the lowest score amazon lets you give) is it's half-decent songs. My recommendation is to skip this Cd.

    5 out of 5 stars Best Compliation.......2004-06-13

One of the best CD's ever to get produced. 26 DJ Mixed Tracks on 2 CD's. It definetly followed the footsteps of it's Big Brother "Pure Dance Party". Which is also a good compliation. The tracks on PTP are excellent including... 4 Strings "Let It Rain" Gouryella "Gouryella" Jessy "Look @ME Now" Alice Deejay "Back In My Life" and a whole lot more. Disc 2 has excellent songs as well including... Fragma "Toca's Maricle", Interactive "Forever Young" Mauro Picotto "Komodo" and a whole lot more. I was really impressed with this CD, and I read there coming out with a Pure Trance Party 2 coming July 13, 2004. Can't wait... Maybe it will follow it's 2 brothers "Pure Dance Party" & "Pure Trance Party". Hope this was helpful. Highly Recommended. A Must Buy. "May Trance Live 4Ever in Spirit"

    5 out of 5 stars Great CD!!!.......2003-08-21

2 CDs, 26 anthemic trance hits all mixed up so that the energy flows! Too many other CDs put an emphasis on packaging but this CD even though the artwork leaves a lot to be desired is the real deal when it comes to music selection and mixing.

5 out of 5 stars Highly recommended for trance fans and newbies alike!!!.......2003-08-21

Just picked this up at the store this past week. UBL Music seems to be on the ball lately by releasing double-disc compilations and not filling them up with lots of [stuff] that so many other companies decide to do. I got their PURE DANCE PARTY CD this past winter so I figured this would follow in its footsteps and I was correct! 26 tracks, all mixed, CD1 has newer material and CD2 has some tance classics which I remember from over the past 4 to 5 years. The highlight of this CD is definitely the mixing. It's spot on and the mixes are long like a DJ would do in a club and not just the short 8 beat mixover fade that you hear on too many of these so called "mix CDs." Trackwise there are some heavy hitters on here including 4 Strings "Let It Rain" which is huge on the radio here in L.A., Kira "I'll Be Your Angel" which is really massive in the UK and Gouryella "Gouryella" which is the ultimate trance tune for 2003! On disc 2 classics like Fragma's "Toca's Miracle" and York "On The Beach" are enough to make this an essential CD for any trance lover's collection or a nice introductory piece for someone who wants to buy a solid trance CD with commercial, underground and classics all mixed better than any CD in the market. Highly recommended!

The ATB mix on the CD leaves much to be desired, Tiesto did a far better job with the song. However the other tracks are excellent making the CD well worth the price.

    5 out of 5 stars pure trance.......2004-08-13

This Cd has many tracks that I like. All have good beats with melodic and harder style songs in equal amounts. This is definitley NOT a one hit wonder. If you've liked the overall trance genre of music, you will not at all be dissapointed. An oldie but a pretty goodie! Take a stab at it and buy it used if your skeptical but there is something for everyone on this cd for any trance listener

    3 out of 5 stars Trance K-Tel style.......2004-06-05

This CD reminds me of disco-era K-Tel vinyl records. There are a bunch of slamming tracks here, but they're all cut down to the length of a 45 RPM single. The "louder is better" mastering is god-awful: it's the polar opposite of the tinny sound of, you guessed it, old K-Tel records. I can't quite hate it though; I was raised on AM-radio disco, and this CD evokes a perverse nostalgia. It's trash, and I like it because it's trash. Of course I got it for dirt cheap, so I don't feel ripped off or anything.

Now, if you want the definitive introduction to contemporary trance, nothing beats Paul Oakenfold's Tranceport Vol. 1. But if you're deep enough into the genre to get a strange kick out of hearing it get the K-Tel treatment, then you just might enjoy this.

1 out of 5 stars All the music sounds the same on this album........2003-07-29

All the music sounds the same on this album. There isn't a whole lot of variety to it. It's pretty lame and boring. Why couldn't there been a better flow for the music's arrangement. If you're looking for a better alternative, I would try "Ultra Dance 2 - w/DJ Encore" or DJ Skribble.

4 out of 5 stars Good sampler, too bad it's not mixed.......2004-09-13

Like the guy before me mentioned, the individual tracks on this CD are chopped up from their original lengths. This actually wouldn't be too bad if the CD were mixed, but it isn't! It seems like the people who put this CD out were just trying to cram a bunch of songs on one CD.

Despite my generally negative review so far I actually liked the music on this CD, so for that it gets a 4 star rating. I see this CD as a sampler though, kind of like a radio station on a CD. I've discovered some cool tracks from listening to it, which of course, I had to acquire the full length tracks from other sources :) The stand out tracks for me are:

    1. Crystal Method - Born Too Slow (NuBreed Remix)
    2. Layo & Bushwacka! - Deep South (Oakenfold Remix)
    3. Plastika - Absolut
    7. Conjure One - Tears from the Moon (Hybrid's Twisted on the Terrace Mix)
    10. Sinead O'Connor - Troy (The Phoenix from the Flame) (Kay Cee Power Mix)
    18. System 7 - Expansion (Conspiracy Mix)

Do yourself a favor. Don't spend the money for this, unless it's used, and just find the individual tracks instead.

    3 out of 5 stars Not a bad CD........2004-08-18

This CD may have some nice tunes in it but I must tell you, this CD is pretty much commercialized for electronica newbies. The problem with this album and the rest of the others that was made by Water Music is that almost all of the tracks end by applying the fade out effect while the music is still going. Especially with the Nu Breed remix of the Born Too Slow. I went and researched and found out the original tracks are way longer than the ones on this album. This CD is not really bad at all. At least I did not spend $20 on this one.

3 out of 5 stars It really means "Pure" Trance I guess.......2004-12-16

Well I just finished this CD and to be honest, nothing really stuck in my head. However, they kinda overdid that synth sound. I've never heard so much of it. I was expecting it to change styles and synths (such as Tiesto's Nyana album)but they all stayed the same and it got tiresome. I'm a Trance fan but this CD just really didn't get me into a great trance mood.
Some bad songs are "Can you Hear me?" -bad vocals, "Venus" -the most overplayed song. The good songs I can think of are "Let the Leaves" "Remeber" "The Race" and "Too Late to Turn" Everything else pretty much sounds like euro-cheese.

If you like Vocal Trance a lot, then you might enjoy this.

    3 out of 5 stars Nothing special.......2004-08-12

I've been listening to trance music for quite a while and i can tell you that this CD is really nothing special. All the tracks are getting old now and this is not a cd you would be impressed to showcase to your friends. Even if the tracks weren't as old, i still wouldn't recommend this cd because many of the songs are cheesy. The song

    1 out of 5 stars Trance Headahe.......2004-03-18

The other reviews mentioned here would have you believe that "Pure Trance 2" is a great cd, but it is a bit misleading. What really annoyed me about this cd mix is that a lot of the tracks had loud, blarring, ugly synths sounds! The first track, "Genie" has horrible, high pitched synths. The second track "Can you hear me?" has a cheesy vocal!. Next up, "Silent Heart" has a good vocal but lousy synths, that ruin the track.
then is another track filled with awful synths called, "See my paradise". On track 5 things mellow out with "Tokyo" it has a nice steady tempo and the synths are not as annoying like other tracks. Track 6 has "Let the leaves" another annoying track with ugly synths. Following another blarring synth filled track called "Silver bath". And most of the tracks go in the same direction of having poor vocal songs, ugly and loud synths. The synths seem to be the MAJOR emphasis of this cd. It wouldn't be a bad thing if they had good synths and good harmony, but they don't. Pure Trance is a poor introduction to trance music, it has good selection of tracks marred by bad vocals and ugly synths that gave me a headache everytime I listened to it! I suggest you buy other compilations like the MOS (ministry of sound) or The FANTASTIC "Euphoria" series which in my opinion surpasses any compilations out there. I have wrote many reviews on the Euphoria series, which I love with a passion!

5 out of 5 stars Trance Addict in SF, Cool CD!!!!.......2003-09-22

For those who love melodic, uplifting trance that makes you want to move, get this cd. It has some fresh cool trance tracks. My favorite is "Genie". Sends chills up and down my spine. Ligaya, Secret Memory, Summer Calling are but a few that I'm mentioning here. The whole cd is cool. Epic trance at it's best. Water Music seems to be gathering some very fresh artist and tracks. There other cd out, "Liquid Trance" is awesome too. Like cool beats, melodic, uplifting danceable trance? Get this!!

    4 out of 5 stars Driven heart.......2006-05-25

Great pulsing beats. Excelent to drive to. Good celection of trance tracks. Not too much filler as in many other compelations out now days. My only contention would be with the transitions between songs. The mix down could have been a little smoother. Over all very good...get it.

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding trance on this two disc set. Me so happy........2004-11-27

Thanks to an FYE for playing this compilation for display, I purchased this two disc album, the second volume to "Pure Trance Party." It's two continuous mixes containing today's trance and trance classics together. Both are just uplifting. There are twelve tracks on each disc. Featured on disc one are trance anthems like Paffendorf's "BeCool." It's not the original mix, nor does it have the exact from the original. It's mostly the same synthesizers from the original, but the notes are different. The vocals, "Honey, you're so cool," "Yeah, God made me cool," "Everybody be cool. You be cool," etc.., are still in this track. There's also "Take Me To The Clouds Above" by LMC. This song contains a sample of U2's "With Or Without You." Another song on disc one is Armin Van Buuren's "Burned With Desire" featuring the vocals of Justine Suissa. The Dutch make great trance. Van Buuren's talented. The German's make good trance too. Paul Van Dyk's "Time Of Our Lives" feat. Vega 4. I like the song for its bass, and the vocals are good too. Funny how it almost sounds like a country song with those vocals. Also on disc one, PPK's "Resurrection." I have memories from 2002 with this single. I pretended to explore the undersea world while playing this song. There's also ATB's "Let U Go," "Turn The Tide" by Sylver, "Love Me Right" by Angel City, Sonique's "Feels So Good," and more. On disc two, there's Schiller's "Das Glockenspiel." Whenever I hear this song, I picture a Christmas scene. That's what I get for listening to those kinds of bells. There's also Darude's "Music." I just can't get enough of robotic vocals. That's what's in the song. System F (Ferry Corsten) is on here with his hit, "Out Of The Blue." System F got an 'A' for his 1999 trancer. It's mighty and happy sounding. His other single, "Ligaya," is also on here (this time, under Ferry's 'Gouryella' moniker). The word 'ligaya,' I believe, is the Philipinish word meaning 'happiness.' Did you know? There's also Tiesto's "Traffic," ATB's "I Don't Wanna Stop," Kay Cee's "Escape," Oceanlab's "Sky Falls Down," "Madagascar" by Art Of Trance, and more. It's trance like this that reminds me that this sub-genre of techno has a long healthy life ahead, and that it's going to find its way through more success in the electronica genre. I'll be waiting for volume three of the "Pure Trance Party" series if it's ever in existance and available.
