This album is georgeous. Every note, every beat is perfect. I think time stops when I listen to the second CD. Probably the most relaxing music I have heard. When I am walking down the street listening on my headphones, it seems that if I close my eyes and open them, everything will be still: the birds in the sky, tthe people walking, the cars, the leaves blowing. Any time I need to unwind, or let go of some stress, or set the mood for a romantic adventure, I know I can count on this. I haven't yet checked out the other Real Ibiza compilations, but this one is great.

Phil Mison delivers an excellent sundown soundtrack.......2001-06-21

With summer in full swing and sundown not occurring till wee-late at night, it's only natural their be a soundtrack for those hazy, burnt-out, lay out on the beach/pool/patio moments. Enter the timely annual slew of Ibiza-theme albums striving to press that Balearic mood onto plastic for the outdoor comedown crowd.

For Real Ibiza 4, DJ for the deckchair massive Phil Mison was given the mixing duties. Anyone looking for sun-soaked house need look no farther than his superlative Soundcolours 3 from last year as proof this man's on top of the list for refreshing sounds. And he certainly comes through here, employing chilled soul Chris Coco for a wave-lapping remix of `So Damn Beautiful,' and the always exemplary Dr. Rockit (Herbert) for some waterway magic on `Café de Flore.' Add some scrumptious soul numbers with `Bent's `I Love My Man,' and A:Xus' `Baghdad Café,' guitar flecked flowers by Jam & Spoon and Sub Sub (the wonderful `Past'), a bit of downbeat (Cool Blu `Aqua Libra') and a dash of drift-away ambient work (Uman `Atmosphere') the mellow recipe is complete.

With each Ibiza compilation there's inevitably some dipping into yesterday's hits for padding, and a penchant towards ethnic-chanting that makes a few tunes narrower in appeal. That's no different here. But let's face it, you need a few good albums like this each year to make those backyard get-togethers all the more memorable. This suits just fine.
