    I bought this album after a british friend recommended it to me.
    He got it whilst over in th U.K last year and has been playing it non-stop ever since.
    The songs are well constucted and interesting, relaxing yet compelling, funky, amidst its mellow qualities.
    I would definately recommend this album.

    Each cd of this three-disc compilation starts out with some big names and then winds down to a much more average mix with the occcasional filler song. Also, the compilation on the whole seems to lose its momentum throughout its entirety; there are, however surprising gems like the song purple that draw you back into the moody, island-style groove machine known as Chilled Ibiza.

        4 out of 5 stars As Cookie Cutter Goes..........2005-03-15

        Yet another 2001 Chillout release. This one being done up by none other than Warner music, who are perhaps just a notch below Ministry of Sound for this time period of chillout compilations. To their benefit, the formula was standard. But I have to be honest - if you had Dreamstates, Ministry or several of the other knock-offs you'd have been doing yourself a vast injustice by picking this up. But... it did have the occasional odd remix.

        One of those remixes being ... well, "Turtle Soup" done up by Wagon Christ on the second cd. Speaking of cd2, you've got Morcheeba's "The Sea" and surprisingly, a great track by Blue States (How I wish he'd go back to this style!!!) with "Your Girl". "Life in Mono" has an interesting vibe, and Golfrapp's Utopia's pretty cool too. I loved Coldcut's classic ambient "Autumn Leaves" remixed however it sounds VASTLY better on Red Jerry's Deep & Chilled Euphoria. CD1 ended up being the one I listened to the most. Starting out with a remake to The Door's "Rider's on the Storm", you get a good vibe for what you're in for. Zero-7's "Destiny" featured, and I loved the song on this cd becuase when I picked this up, it wasn't over-played and Sia's voice didn't have enough time to annoy me. lol I alwyas loved Groove Armada's "Inside My Mind" - a real summer, beach cut with an incredibly soothing beginning and end. But for some reason, the songs I enjoyed most on this cd were Randy Crawford's "Cajun Moon" and Vangelis' "Rachel's Song", even though it didn't fit in. "Melt" by Leftield is a breathtaking ambient track that opens your mind up to the wonders of warm summer nights - however much like "Autumn Leaves", it's better left to be mixed by the experts and I preferred it to on Red Jerry's "Deep & Chilled Euphoria".

        So in the end, I think this was a very capable compilation, even if it didn't have an original recipe for success. However I'd err on the side of caution if you're thinking of dropping close to 40 bucks on an old chillout comp since incidentally, you can probably get the albums by all the best artists on it for that price if you look hard enough. Never-the-less, if you still do, the series continued on and I believe it went up to 2004, and you'd probably dig "Dreamstates" and... I can't stress it enough, check out "Deep & Chilled" Euphoria for an amazing ambient and chillout adventure; along with the Euphoria that came out the same year as this that was simply titled "Chilled", put together by Solar Stone.

        i really liked chilled ibiza 1 & 2, so i was expecting a lot from this collection. unfortunately, it wasn't anywhere near as good as the first two in the series. it seemed to have a completely different feel to it than chilled ibiza 1 & 2. overall, this was a big let down and i wouldn't recommend this to fans of the series or anyone i guess.

        For those days when your morning or evening commute seems even more hellacious than possible, I humbly submit this cd for your approval. Consider it the aural equivalent of that soothing after-work cocktail. The grooves are slow, relaxing and ultimately intoxicating. It's hard to name one stand-out track when the compilation is so strong - suffice to say, if urban stress has got you down, you owe it to yourself to buy this cd.
        Your soul will thank you and your sanity will remain intact.

        Ambient, Lounge, Downbeat. This is a wonderful new genre of music. Laid-back melodies, rhythms and riffs sooth the soul and elements of R&B, hip hop, electronic and world music all combine to insinuate the mind. But one rarely be hears this music on the radio or MTV. Compilation discs are often the best way to be introduced to these artists and their material. However, compilation discs often do not live up to their promise. Chilled Ibiza does. This is one of those rare compilations that is solid from track to track. There are a few cuts that most people will have heard -- like the Moby and Sneaker Pimps tracks -- and there are cuts from well-known artists in the Ambient/Lounge genre (Massive Attack, Groove Armada, Thievery Corporation, Art of Noise). There are also cuts from lesser-known artists that will surprise and delight. Some of the best include: Bonobo's "Terrapin", Midfield General's "Reach Out", "Smokebelch II" by The Sabres of Paradise, and "Synthaesthesia" by The Thrillseekers. Only two things could have made this compilation even better and that is, 1) the inclusion of a Morcheeba track and 2) separate and distinct tracks (as opposed to mixing the beginning and end of each track into each other). Still, this is one of the best compilations I've ever come across and one of the best values available. Many compilations are good for only two or three decent tracks. Chilled Ibiza is jam packed with great music and deserves to be played over and over again.

        I'm not one to buy compilations normally, but after studying the track listings & artists involved I could not resist. This is one to listen to while sitting out enjoying the evening sun with a margarita to hand. It is extemely relaxing to listen to and makes perfect background music whatever the occasion. An excellent selection of tracks making good value for money.

        Have you ever experienced a sunset on Ibiza? No, well neither have I, but this album is the closest you'll get without actually being there. I am a fan of artists such as Portishead, dEUS, and Mono, but lately I have developed a taste for Ambient and Lounge. Although finding good material of this genre has proven quite challenging. TV and radio don't always play this sort of music. The best way to broaden your musical horizon as far as Ambient and Lounge is concerned, is to get hold of a compilation such as Chilled Ibiza. I didn't know what to expect, but the album was a revelation. It offers a great variety of artist, from The Prodigy, to Vangelis, to Bent. Some tracks include song, while others are pure sound. Take for example "Play dead" by Bjork and David Arnold. A song with everything in it from a regular guitar to an entire string orchestra in the background. Each beautifully balanced. Or Energy 52 with "Cafe Del Mar". A tune where one note flows into the next. This track has no beat in it, just a harmoneous flow of mutually complimenting sounds. Just close your eyes and you can almost feel the rays of the setting Sun warm your face. I can only recommend this album to anyone who feels for Ambient or Lounge. A perfect album to put on, when the party is winding down during the early morning hours, or if you simply feel like relaxing. Don't just listen to this music, experience it!
