perfect ambient grooves.......2002-02-15

I love this CD. It is the perfect mixture of mellow ambient grooves, funk, and dance music. You can listen to it when you're feeling relaxed, kicking back or when your getting ready to go out and need some energy. Now if only I could get to that beach in Ibiza and listen to this dj's music all summer long.

One of the very best.......2001-11-13

Yeah, this is truly a cd that shows what chill-out music,is c.2001. The mix is so natural you would swear it is a single artist offering (think Moby, perhaps)and it chugs up and winds down in the most satisfying manner. It's one of those albums that seems to tell a story. You just want to know what the music is going to say next. Actually, I bought it for the Kruder and Dorfmeister remix of 'Night Nurse' - which is not readily available, and is as fabulous as I thought it would be (check out K & D - soulful Austrian remixers), but I was overwhelmed by the all the other tracks too.
This is a wonderful CD. Buy it yourself and play it knowingly to your musically sophisticated friends. (...)

Chillout and Dance.......2001-10-14

As someone who is usually turned off by anything using the word Ibiza in marketing, I reluctantly bought this after knowing some of the artists as not the usual over-commercialized, overkilled, filler that usually consumes the seemingly hundreds of Ibiza mixes released every year. Anyway, glad I took the risk, as it turns out reminding me of a continuation of SourceLab, one of my all time favorite compillation series.

CD one is the chillout set, jazzy electronica, late night, French infused in the way that there is no underlying sound or genre, yet each track seems perfectly suited to its predecessor and successor. CD two is more of a house/electro/mix set, uptempo yet borders that line of being able to listen to it on your couch or turn it up and get down. Again it's mismash of genres, brilliantly compilled. Both have the occaisional Latin shake to them.

I assume anyone stubmling across this is doing so because they have actually been to Ibiza, or just dream of going there. If for some reason you are also into fried funk, French electro sounding stuff, housey jazz, background/dinner party dance music, this also fits the occaision. Best of all, you needn't worry about almost any of these artists showing up on a Ministry of Sound CD.
