5 out of 5 stars best van buuren album.......2005-04-04

This is by far my favorite Van Buuren album (with boundaries of imagination taking a close second). The first disc seems to start very vocal but changes after the 4th song to a beautiful album. The second disc is my favorite and is a great change of pace from the first disc. It is much darker then the first album, but both albums are very effective. On a rating of 1-10 i give this album a 9.5.

5 out of 5 stars Caiman .......2005-03-11

thank Caiman for the fast delivery

and AVB as usually deliver trance like no others can do...

5 out of 5 stars One in a million!.......2004-06-28

This is one of the greatest mind numbing & bit freaking House/Trance albums I have ever heard, surpassing even Tiesto's Nyana. CD#1 is really great but when you come to number 2... Ohhh, this is a new dimension of music - It is just superb!!! A must album for every House/Trance fan!

5 out of 5 stars Incredible!!.......2004-06-18

This is the best trance CD I have ever heard. AVB is an amazing DJ. Anyone looking for great trance should buy this CD right now.

5 out of 5 stars excellent mix cd from one of the best dj.......2004-06-16

This is probably one of the best mixed cd I've ever encountered. Disc one was ok. The opening track Fear by Sarah McLachlan was superb. The second disc was where it blew me away. I'm usually a fan vocal trance and the second disc didn't have any. I was suprise how much I enjoyed it more than the first disc which had more vocals. The track selection was great and the mixing is excellent.

5 out of 5 stars SERIOUS SET OF TRACKS.......2004-02-24

I'm a good trance fan and have got cds by ferry corsten, paul oakenfold, god tiesto, blank and jones, way out west, delerium, conjure one...and 76 from armin .I've just bought this because of some beautiful tracks i already knew(mindcircus, too late to turn);Ifound it incredible , particularly disc 1 that I placed just behind tiesto's in search of sunrise 2 and ferry's global trancemissions 2.VERY GOOD STUFF

5 out of 5 stars Still amazes me!.......2003-11-28

Where do I begin? In my opinion, Armin Van Buuren may very well be the best trance dj out there these days. I believe this is his best effort yet. Certainly better than his latest disc, 76. Yeah, I realize I'm writing this review a year and a half after the release of Transparance, but that's how good it is. I have not gotten tired of it after constant play for over a year. I am more of a fan of melodic, euphoric trace, so disc one is my favorite. I can't help but get lost in the songs "Into the Sun" and "Spacelover" which are mixed flawlessley, back to back. Start to finish, this CD is hard to top. CD2 is also fantastic, a bit harder than 1, but nearly as good as disc 1. If you're a fan of AVB, you better have this CD set. If you aren't familiar with him, you must get it. I would rate this CD #2 in my all time trance favorites, right behind Oakenfold's Tranceport. Yeah, it's that good.

5 out of 5 stars A Quest for the unatainable........2003-11-16

I have been lookin for this CD for the longest time. I have read all of the reviews and am dying to get my hands on this one. Van Buuren is one of my favorite DJs and if anyone has a copy of it they are willing to part with, please list it here & notify me at YourGatecrasher@aol.com. I would buy it in a heartbeat.

4 out of 5 stars perfectly orchestrated album.......2003-05-21

This double album was definitely worth the price. The first album has some beautiful melodies. The first track is a good one to start out with. The second track is the beautiful melodic Way OUt West-Mindcircus. From there, tracks 4 and 6 get me flowing with their progressive trance feel to them. The last track is a remix from AVB himself which could easily be a club anthem. Very uplifting. This first album is the more melodic and chilled of the two. But still very good.
The second album is very trancey. You could easily find a lot of these tracks in dance clubs. the first track is very dark and trancey. My favorite Is track 5 Body Shock-Mars-Plastic. Very powerful and could get anyone on the dance floor. From there you could have one big dance party to the end of this second album. I would recommend this to anyone who loves non-cheesy trance and likes the best of both worlds (chill and dance). I would not recommend this to the first-time listener.

4 out of 5 stars Electric Mixing from Armind.......2003-03-23

Being a trance DJ myself and owning 90% of the tracks on this album individually in vinyl format, I know a mix of real quality when I hear one. From the beginning of disc 1, through it's progressive layers and haunting melodies to disc 2's higher energy tracks, such as 'Body-Shock - Mars-Plastic' it's sheer aural delight. This deffinitely gets DJ Nikon's '2 thumbs-up' ranking.

4 out of 5 stars A record to get you back into trance..........2005-10-05

Though less mainstream fame has befallen Dutch DJ/producer Armin van Buuren than his countrymen and fellow founders of popular trance, Tiesto and Ferry Corsten (System F), in my mind Armin is the superior talent of the three, especially on the turntables. This mix features the best cuts of the year from Armin's world famous radio show on ID&T (in Holland) called A State of Trance that has had trance fans listening religiously every thursday night at 8 GMT for the freshest, best new uplifting and progressive trance for something like 5 years now. When I stopped tuning into ASOT, it was up to episode 183 (aka week #183). Since then I heard it was cancelled or moved or something, but by then I was out of my 8 year phase of total trance infatuation and didn't care much. This mix reflects some of the highlights of the year 2003 from A State of Trance.

Highlights from CD1 include Viridian - Sunhump and Space lovers - Spacelover, a couple of smooth, sleek trancers I had never heard before. There are also some nice vocal tracks anyone will enjoy, like a remix of trip-hop duo Weekend Players and 'Fear' by Sarah McLachlan, superbly remixed. Club giants Nick Warren (Way Out West), Ralphie B (under guise of Alpha Breed), and fellow Dutchman Ron van den Beuken (Shane)also contribute to this highly enjoyable first CD that is lacking only perhaps in the mixing fluidity Armin is so good at on ASOT. Some of the transitions sound choppy and forced, but that's the Tiesto compromise. (Track selection >>> Mixing)

Bottom line is, when i heard this CD for the first time, I hadquit listening to trance for a few months because I was so tired of overused and hammered to death trance anthems that are at best pale copies of late nineties classics, not to mention dry, powerless progressive that every DJ seems to be leaning toward these days. I almost didn't even give this a chance. However it exceeded my expectations and I actually listened through it again right after it was over. Perhaps Armin was trying to avoid over 'anthemizing' his mix, thus the use of the less popular mixes of Deep Sea and Mindcircus. Happily, the mix is devoid of any mind-numbing progressive and is a hyped up but very pleasant listen throughout.

4 stars for a highly enjoyable trancing experience. and recommended for fans of uplifting/vocal/but not (too) cheesy trance.
