very good.......2004-11-10
Not bad cd for the new hi-nrg fans. This is a short voyage to the history of real dance music at the time. Even if you don't like the sound of hi-nrg, there is a one song which you must have it. Patrick Cowley & Donna Summer in the best dance anthem of all time "i feel love" is 15 minutes of pure gold.
Terrific NRG Compilation; Great Price, Too!.......2003-10-09
Some hard to find/out of print versions here. It's worth it if only for the rare EG Daily remix of "Love In The Shadows" from that scarce early album of hers AND for the deliciously remixed version of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love." The rare Donna remix (in it's entirety on this compilation) was done by the late synth/keyboard genius & producer Patrick Cowley, who helped carve the NRG sound in the early 80's. This version is Patrick Cowley remixing Georgio Moroder: an NRG fan's wet dream. Terrific double disc for dance music afficionados!
memory!.......2003-05-11
if for any other reason to buy this energy packed 2 cd set, the main reason being that everyone should indeed have the song "memory" in their life somewhere!it's one of the most beautiful recordings known to mankind!i immediately fell in love to that song when it first came out & everyone i know feels the same way too , go get yours today!!love j.h. of dover!!
REMEMBERING THE EIGHTIES.......2003-05-06
This is a great double CD with several songs not found anywhere else. The main dance classics on these CDs are by the original stars and in their extended 12" versions. Some points of confusion are with track selections 2,8,& 9 on disc two. "Some People", by Cliff Richard (track 2), while a great eighties song is not what one would normally put with Hi-NRG selections. Tracks 8 ("You're So Vain" by Chimira) and 9 ("Live To Tell" by Blonde Ambition) are from 1996 and while Hi-NRG they stick out from the time frame of the other songs. MANY MANY other eighties dance hits could have been placed in these positions (like Rainey's "I Can Fly" or Phyllis Nelson's "Don't Stop The Train)...still what is here is GREAT and you should grab this while you can.

Customer Reviews:
Among the best 80s compilations.......2005-08-06
There are really some inspired choices here. This may be one of the only places where you'll find "Peter Gunn" and "Perfect Way." But more than that, this may be one of the best-sequenced compilations albums around. "Love Plus One" "If You Leave" and "True Faith" sound like they belong together, riding together on a crisp, percolating wave. Other choices may be more obvious, like the omnipresent "I Melt with You" and "Hold me Now," but I swear this thing provides an outstanding overall listening experience. I gotta lotta 80s, and this is absolutely in my top three of the greatest decade comps out there. There's stuff for the casual listener and hard-to-find stuff that will complete the collections of many die-hards. 'Shame it's out of print.
No fluffly late eighties here.......2000-10-09
The perfect eighties music compilation, if you don't like bands like Poison or other songs like the sort. It has the can't live without song "If You Leave" by OMD. And a nice mix of other earlier 80's songs that you have grown to really like. I picked this one because the other 80's cd's threw in some artists that really didn't blend well on the same disc. Definetely the right choice.
One of the better 80's collections.......2000-03-29
For the price, this CD is one of the better collections of 80's songs that I have seen. It has some stuff that is on many other collections, but it also has some songs that are harder to find, such as True Faith by New Order, which is one of the great songs of the 80's, and Smalltown Boy, by Bronski Beat. The campy You Spin Me Around (which Adam Sandler did a hilarious version of in the Wedding Singer) is also one of the highlights.
AN 80'S FAN FROM THE GREAT STATE OF MONTANA.......2000-02-17
The 80's was a transition decade. And the music was very good, and the music was very inviting! If there is anyone that remembers this music such as rock and roll is great! So, if your a real fan, do pick it up!

This continuous mix dance album features the best in disco dance classics compiled by WKTU's own on-air personality Joe Causi. Join your host, Brooklyn's Own Joe Causi as he takes you back to a time when the only thing that mattered was how high your hair was and how great those polyester pants and chiana shirts looked on you. Joe Causi can be heard as host of New York's KTU Studio 54 Clubhouse every Sunday night-you will feel the heat of the dance floor and the pulse of the city in one mammoth collection. Keep your eyes open for this truly phenomenal dance collection.
Customer Reviews:
A Must Have! Disco Lives, Baby!.......2001-06-21
Joe Causi is my favorite WKTU DJ and the collection he has put together with Jellybean is a must have for all who have survived the 70's. PLANET ROCK! Come on, need I say more? Ok, "Ain't Nothing Gonna Keep Me From You" by Teri DeSario! "Date With The Rain" by Eddie Kendricks is also a great track. Dance the night away in your favorite platforms. I hope this series of CDs continues for a long time!
One Track Treasure.......2001-06-15
Teri DeSario's "Nothing's Gonna Keep Me From You" is worth this entire CD. This is an extended version (6+ minutes) and while the track is a classic, the mastering on this particular compilation is disappointing. Not only is there (minimal) static throughout the recording, but the levels have been engineered too high. It's as if the track was dubbed from an LP. Otherwise a great find, as DeSario's voice is pure and angelic. This is a great Barry Gibb song (non-Bee Gees).

Customer Reviews:
Very nice Italo compilation.......2002-10-01
Most of the songs on this release come from the golden age of Italo dance. Volumes I and II contained more popular Italo hits, while this volume contains more obscure (but just as good) titles.
The only reason I did not rate at 5 stars is that, as an avid Italo collector, these titles qualify as "less popular", and possibly second tier Italo (which is in no way a bad thing). There are many truly obscure italo hits that never seem to make it onto a compilation CD, and are much better than some of these titles.
I have purchased many Italo compilations and they all seem to pick from the same pool of songs. Usually, the "Volume 1" has the popular hits (boring), "Volume 2" has the favorite hits from hardcore fans (boring), and "Volume 3" has mostly the leftovers. Yet, I keep shelling out 16 bucks every time because, to me, even mediocre Italo is better than 90% of the junk out there today.
Not at all what I expected.......2000-02-29
I still love the New Wave music of the 80's, such as the songs included in Italo 2000 Vol. 1 and Vol. 1 Rarities. However, this CD came as a complete surprise; they definitely do not sound the same! This is my own opinion, and it is very negative. Buy at your own risk.
Contains rare Italo dance classics.......1999-11-19
I have all of the Italo 2000 and Italo 2000 Rarities CD's and this one has some of the best Italo classics, not to mention some very rare titles. "Week-End" by Atrium is next to impossible to get. It was only released once in the US as a 12". There are also a few side-B DUB versions of some popular titles, such as "America" by Cruisin' Gang, which no one ever heard unless you purchased the original 12". You can listen to every song from start to finish and enjoy them all. There are no clunkers in this set. Highly recommended.

Customer Reviews:
Total Gem.......2004-02-02
Totally rad cd. If you like joy division, depeche mode, and early synth pop this cd compilation is a great intro to more obscure acts of the era.
Showcase of an era.......2003-11-15
This is probably one of the best compilations of late 70s and 80s synth hits. It doesn't tell the whole story of synth pop though, as obscure artists like The Normal and Klaus Nomi are omitted. Besides this minor gripe, it does offer a brilliant overview of the synth sound of the late 1970s and of the 1980s with all the major artists and most of the classic hits represented.
Disc One contains The Human League's gloomy early track Being Boiled plus their later devastating pop hit Don't You Want Me, Tubeway Army's seminal 1978 hit Are Friends Electric, David Bowie's funky Fashion, Thomas Dolby's quirky Hyperactive, Soft Cell's decadent Say Hello Wave Goodbye and the pioneering Kraftwerk's hypnotic The Model. One serious omission is Eurythmics' unsurpassable Love Is A Stranger, a beautiful eerie song that represented the very best of synthpop for me.
On Disc Two, my favourites include the cinematic and gripping I Travel by Simple Minds, the anthemic Electricity by OMD (but where is Joan Of Arc?), Paul Hardcastle's ominous 19 from a much later era, the brooding Don't Go by Yazoo which is another stunning mix of melody and moody vocals and The Walk by The Cure, although they aren't really considered a synth band. Neither were Phil Lynott or Frankie Goes To Hollywood considered synth artists, but their respective contributions are welcome anyway.
