Album Description

Underfoot defies genre labeling, attracting a diverse crowd looking for a message in their music. Described as "hauntingly beautiful with a killer groove" and "provocative and vibrant beat poetry for the 21st Century," One Hand Clapping is a culmination of songs recorded live at venues on the East Coast and two studio tracks, which happen to be the first and last songs on the album. The songs range from the heavy acoustic of "Gravity" (one of the new studio tracks) to the atmospheric painting of "the Desert."

dissapointing..........2000-02-29

very dissapointing live record. groove? where? ive seen the band live and the singer seems to have little interest in engaging the audience/listener or interacting with the band for that matter. i found most of the performances on the CD stale and even pretentious at times. please forgive my spelling.

Underfoot - under appreciated.......2000-01-05

One Hand Clapping is a fine example of great music without a niche. Very crisp and well written, this album is representative of what you can expect from an Underfoot live show. Most of the collection was recored live at the bands mainly mid-sized club shows. Acoustic without being soft. Intelligent without being pompus. Comparisons to the Dave Matthews Band are due mainly to the fact that the guitar player/singer/song writer once played in the Boyd Tinsley Band. This album, however, has it's own identity. You won't hear much of it on the radio. But you should.

Album Description

Dobie first started making music when he was in college in the 80's. He earned respect as a producer, remixer and DJ working with the legendary Soul II Soul collective on their first two albums, which spawned worldwide hits,"Keep On Moving", "Back To Life" and "Jazzy's Groove". He later went on to work on and remix a wide range of groundbreaking artists including Björk, Massive Attack, Tricky, Gangstarr, Howie B, Roots Manuva and more!

Dobie was signed to Pussyfoot Records, where he released numerous singles and EP's such as the much sought after The Dobie E.P. which features the classic "B-Boy Anthem". He later went on to release his debut album The Sound of One Hand Clapping, to much critical acclaim and rave reviews. This album, due to limited distribution, never reached its stateside potential and is being re-released through Dobie's own BBE imprint, Magnificent 7.
