Group members G-Clef (alto sax, lead raps) and B-natural (trumpet, raps) are experienced young jazz players whose credits include work with Illinois Jacquet, Clark Terry, Weldon Irvine and more!

Innovative for its time.......2004-07-10

I remember this group blasting on all the underground radio stations in NY with the fly hit Don't Bite the Concept, and I liked it... so recently I researched this album. I didn't hear aything else about these guys, and I wanted to know what ever happened to them. I bought this CD and was pleasantly surprised, its GREAT! But more than the high level of production and subject matter for the era.. What hit me is the date! 1992-1993 was when these masters were recorded, which predates any of the other jazz meets rap products of that era. My God, these boys were the innovators of the whole jazz rap thing, and i STRONGLY suggest buying this album if you can get it just to hear a real fusion of jazz and rap. These guys rap, scratch with mastery AND play horns too like real jazzers. I am speechless after hearing it, and I cannot recommend it enough.

Good funky jazz but not a classic........2003-03-24

Ghetto philharmonic started rapping on the underground on the east coast in 1993 and this CD came out in early 1995 with nice smooth dinner jazz loop and funky base lines.But the rap are weak and the album failed too get a big reaction and was slept on.And it not a classic album it like Black sheep mets The Roots
try something more funky like Grand Puba you will miss Pete rock and C.L smooth when you hear Hip Hop Be Bop.

WHERE IS THE GEORGE CLINTON, UMAR BIN HASSAN, MICHAEL HAMPTON, BUCKETHEAD, BOOTSY, BLADOW, BERNIE, RONKAT, GABEDELIC AND A BILL LASWELL HEAVY-FUNK PROJECT OVERRIDE?

I just coped this level 12 Funk, and it's a Federation of Goode Funk. A GIANT ROBOT TRANSMUTATION. BUT George's Brother Jimmy G. will 'Break your Heart' and 'All or Nuthin' is a 2005 Smash Hit. These guy's are Master's at Jammin and having Fun. "While I Get Protected" (c)2005 written by M. 'Sun Star Ali Allah' Love, Could stand some PROFESSIONAL PUSH, i can't wait to the Federation does something more. It's another FUNKKIN cd SET, A 'INCORPORATED THANG' with that special taste such as "I'll Do Anything For You," which is a hit that should be played everyday by the Incorporated Thang Band on nation-wide radio.
George (GC), FUNKADELIC TOYS (Import) i'm just patiently waiting for (this) release, for I know its another 420 Funk Mob, and revised hit called "THE GOOSE" (That laid the Golden Egg) and "WARS OF ARMAGEDDON" (Karaoke version). Another `GC' THEORY, and Just a "FUNKY BUG IN YOUR EAR."

If the hypocrites and central scrutinizers of the world weren't so narrow-minded, they would have banned this album as an illicit drug on the date of release. It flows, simmers, grooves and soars inextinguishably in a virtually seamless fusion of a dozen of ancient and modern styles with a nod to eternity. Powerful and mesmerizing enough to make a Sufi twirl. Highly recommended, even if some find it a bit recycled or repetitive after Laswell's one-too-many subsequent offerings, or too muzaky to rank on par with 'serious jazz'. Stuff of a quality rarely achieved by today's 'ethno/world' crowd.

I haven't even gotten to "side B" yet. Absolute genius from a former member of The Last Poets. The imagery is overwhelmingly vivid, the rhythms, as a result, undeniable.

It is a great shame and a disgrace to society that this CD is out of stock while the Britney Spiers of this world are making millions. I bought the CD a while ago and it is truly great - with numbers such as "Malcolm", "pop". The great Bootsy is here, as well as African Kora player Fuday Musa Suso, Bill Laswell, Bernie Worrel, Buddy Miles and others. The words are biting sharp and the music is fantastic. PLease bring it back and make more like it !

What's the best thing I can say about this music?Original and unique compositions.....yes. Very impressive guitar work....yes.Uplifting,...yes. But the best thing....is passion, YES....it's here and it will move you...the more I play it -the more I hear it. And, it get's 5 stars. I love this CD.

Where has this artist been hiding?.......2002-09-06

This collection ranges from smooth jazz to a hard hitting beat with great lead guitar sounds. The tunes are catchy, well composed, and make you want to move a little, even if you are sitting down. Several tracks focus on today's current events as the artist attempts to awaken our senses and expose our feelings. I recommend this CD to a wide range of listeners because of the variety it offers.
