Don't get the IMPORT.......2004-04-30
The non import version is selling for around 2 buck used right now. Get that instead...the extra 2 songs are not worth all that extra $. But this is a great album, a pleasant aural suprise.
See my review for the other one.

To reduce the intriguing and positively eccentric music of Mount Florida's DJ twosome M.P. Lancaster and Twitch to one or two easily definable categories would be something of a limiting exercise. Its far-reaching and uniquely free-spirited character defies such restrictive by-lining. Genre-less at best and all over the place at worst, this music's complicated personalities make what is potentially confusing and strange on paper beautifully coherent in practice. Suffice it to say it demands your proper listening attention and as time and tracks pass you'll find yourself pulled further into the DJs' off-center world. This is a world of industrial proportions, with spaced-out dub, lopsided techno, and mutilated ambiance providing only some of the ongoing themes. Opening with the abrasive rumbles of "Space, Echoes," the duo slide undaunted into the deep 4/4 dub of "Jamaica Street" toward the 10-minute guitar-led electronica opus "Celebration"--a distinct nod toward their Scottish roots. Serving as effective reminders not to get too complacent, the trashy punk of "Postal" and (Silver Apples sampling) eerie post-dub of "Don't Do Dada" act as poignant midway wake-up calls. As the record subsides into blissful contrast with the orchestral classicism of "Radio Ocean" and the Morse-coded commentary of "Static Airwaves," the proceedings are drawn to a suitably restful and breathtaking close. --Found Sounds

From slo mo experimentalist pop and edgy dub landscapes through psyche out percussive lyricism to deep transcendental pastoralism, somehow this all pulls together into the coherent joy that is 'Arrived Phoenix'

Wow, get it!.......2002-10-10
I bought this on a whim because I live in Flordia, the reviews seemed good and the price was right. I was pleasantly suprised to get a good electronica album. I classify it as that though it is hard music to classify. Great mellow music with funky sounds throughout. I'm on my 3rd straight listen, I like it that much. Not really dance electronica, but not Autecture either. Get it.
Superb Example!.......2001-12-08
What is with this business of not giving an excellent album a five star rating? It IS a 5 star cd, much better than most I have listened to this year. A great electronic mix and sparse vocals are intertwined throughout. My favourite song is "Space, echoes". This album could do without the song "Postal", but it is not enough to take away a 5 start rating.
Yawn........2001-06-06
It's well done, I suppose, but I have to say I found the whole thing a little on the monotonous and boring side. I guess it's not my kind of music.
Moving in the right direction.......2001-04-07
Insightful, atmospheric, melodic, funky and sometimes just a little bit weird; Mount Florida's first album "Arrived Pheonix" has become a mainstay in my collection of late. Disillusioned by the monotany and lack of originality in much electronica, I think that this album puts a firm foot in the right direction showcasing a diverse talent and subversive intellect at work. It may take a couple of good turns to see what's going on here but, at less than ten bucks, well worth the money.
Listen with headphones!!!!!!!.......2001-03-06
I purchased this cd from a local retailer a few days ago, and it blew me away. Their production was really great, but I could only give 4 stars since k&d are the only ones I would give 5 stars to. The album is quite good, preferably listned to in the tub with a good pair of headphones. really good for those late nights spent at the club and you need something to bring you down. Good stuff at a good price( I'ts cheeper here than in the stores.
