5 out of 5 stars 80's Cheese At It's Best!.......2005-02-09

I Eat Cannibals & Other Tasty Trax was worth every penny. 5 Brits (Think 80's Spice Girls) have tackled their lyrics on every song with tongue n cheek lyrics and fun music. Great harmonies as well. They are TOTOlly underlooked. Put this one in your cd collection ASAP!!

1 out of 5 stars The Worst.......2004-02-29

This has GOT to be the worst record from the worst group of ALL time!

5 out of 5 stars A Cannibal Menu Review.......2001-06-18

Toto Coelo (or Total Coelo, depending on which continent you are on) is the unknown "Spice Girl" genre of music from the eighties. Colorful energetic girls with fun lyrics and catchy rhythms. You just can't go wrong with these British beauties! They always brighten the day, whether they are crooning about vampire lovers or drooling over a hunk of man meat--literally, these girls are cannibals! Seriously, Toto Coelo can be enjoyed by anyone with a taste for wit and delicious tempos. Eat it up, Cannibals!

5 out of 5 stars Best Digested while eating Cannibals.,.......2000-11-03

I am willing to REFER THIS BAND just for their 80's cover. It is so vintage, so powerful and evoking of the olden days. I walked into this recordstore (can't say which) once and saw it on the shelf. It leered at my with busty 80's JOY. I gave it a listen, and boy, let me tell you, I eat Cannibals now too.

5 out of 5 stars Total Coelo finally on CD!.......1999-12-24

If you ever heard the single "I Eat Cannibals" this is a must CD for your collection. This song and their whole CD are just incredible. Similar to Bananarama, but a little more funky. I heard the single to "I Eat Cannbals" in the early 80's, and luckily was able to get a maxi vinyl single, but was never able to get a copy of any other singles or a full length album. This is their entire album, plus a few extended dance trax on top. This is one CD you won't want to miss. It probably won't well very well, and won't be available very long.

5 out of 5 stars And Now That It's 13 Years Later ..........2007-04-04

... after the first printing of this collection, let me say LOUD and CLEAR that WaxTrax! (now TVT) Records NEEDS TO RE-RELEASE THIS COLLECTION OF CLASSICS!!! As it stands, Black Box is a hard to find collector's item, as the prices for used copies can attest (nobody's gonna have a new one available, kids, at least not for a reasonable price). You're lucky if you can find someone who kept immaculate, anal-retentive care of the discs. I was lucky to find a copy of this set at my local record shop, but the condition of the CDs would rate as GOOD, VERY GOOD at best. I'm just glad that after 13 years, they will still play in my CD player.

I'm not going to fire off a huge, elaborate critique of the set. If this kind of music from this time period pushes the dopamine receptors in your brain over the brink (and you know who you are), then this collection is for you. Yeah, it's primarily industrial in nature, but there are hints of techno, hard/goth rock, and dark experimental music. The 3-CD set clocking in at roughly 3 1/2 hours of music represents a nice, thick, bloody slice of a time and a place, and yes, it's just that damn good. Read the other reviews for point by point details. At worst, this one gets 4.5 stars. At best, it easily garners 5.

    5 out of 5 stars Wow....just wow.......2006-11-27

My interest in industrial music and its history lead me down the path to this little almost forgetten jem at this point.
This is industrial music as its not made anymore, as industrial music since the death of this label has become even more of a minor niche market fading into the obscure. But this box set captures industrial's golden age. An interesting mix of styles and history, it actually prompted to go visit the orginal WaxTrax store in Denver while on vacation(ironicly seeing one of the artists on the boxset.KMFDM). With all the music revials going on, I wish someone would revive this kind of industrial music, before its completely forgotten. The track that is the most well known is probably the cover of "Supernaut" with the Trent Renzor vocals, but that is to over look alot of other amazing material. You can feel the energy, the thoughtfulness, and the pioneering spirit racing though every track. The only shortcoming i'd say would be that Front 242's material couldn't be included.
Music history buffs will also get a kick out of this, there is a little booklet helping outline the history of the label, and quite a history it is. I find it quite sad that there is no real written books about WaxTrax and the chicago industrial scene of the 80s like there is for punk, hardcore, indie and their counterparts.
I recommend this comp 100%, and hope that you can feel the same love for this music as I do.

    5 out of 5 stars I wish I could give this collection 18 stars.......2002-11-04

I dj'd at college radio stations for 5 years in the late '80s, and was always pleasantly excited when I found a Wax Trax! label in the New bin. (Unfortunately, I usually did my shows in the dark and thought the name was "Wax Traxi" for the longest time!) The label was a mainstay of industrial music, and founders Jim Nash and Dannie Flesher consistently managed to sign and produce the most exciting musicians of the time -- the many incarnations of dear troubled genius Al Jourgensen, The Young Gods, FLA, Coil, Controlled Bleeding, Doubting Thomas, A Split Second, Lead Into Gold, Psychic TV, Foetus -- they are all here on three great discs packed with music that makes you want to move and feel. Disc One, Track One: Trent Reznor covers Black Sabbath's 'Supernaut' with 1000 Homo DJs -- a version previously unreleased, and then you are zipping through Sister Machine Gun and The Young Gods and oh so many more seminal industrial bands. Divine puts the "fun" in funky with "The Name Game", the label's second release. I was also happy to hear a few groups that had somehow slipped past me the first time around, like Wreck. I had a great time listening to this collection and am still listening to it. You can put in any of the three discs and be happy for a long time.

The packaging is beautiful -- a heavyweight black box covered with hip lettering and disturbing images; three black CD cases containing labeled discs and a listing with artist, cut, time and version information; and a terrific booklet that relates the anecdotal history of Wax Trax! -- it's artistically interesting as well as substantive and entertaining.

If you enjoy industrial music, you cannot go wrong with this incredible collection of the music and people that started it all. And why not put a few bucks into the pockets of the guys who loved the music more than the profits?

5 out of 5 stars Worth the money!.......2002-02-28

This Chicago-based record label compilation is an awesome chunk of the work done by most of the best industrial bands that came out of N. America and Europe in the 80s. Very interesting and innovative music- fans of industrial music or darker techno should like most of this stuff quite a bit.

5 out of 5 stars A wee handbook for the perplexed.......2000-11-25

This 3 CD set offers an excellent overview of the artists that made WaxTrax! Records synonymous with beautiful, challenging music. Coil, Thrill Kill Kult, Meat Beat Manifesto, Ministry, KMFDM, Pig, RevCo, even some early Frontline Assembly is featured on this Box. And for you NIN fans, there's even the original version of 1,000 Homo DJs' 'Supernaut' with Trent Reznor on vox. The enclosed booklet encapsulates the WT! history, including the TVT buyout. Overall, a great mix of music and information about the early days in Chicago that is well worth the price.

the cd is weak and boring

but that Zebrahead version of His World rocks! why they used the slow one i'll never know but i know i only bought it for the Z track i needed the hard copy of that song for my collection, a mp3 just couldn't do it i need hard copies!

I've beaten the game twice, and I've loved the music.Check out this review:
His World(all):9/10:The version on the CD was better than the game's.
The guitars and singers are better on this version.
All Hail Shadow:10/10:Crush 40 does a great job with the guitars and
    voices.
Dreams of Absolution:7/10:Too robotic for some people's tastes,as the case
    could be.Otherwise,some might like.I do,somewhat.
My Destiny:2/10:Sheesh.Sonic just HAD to have a girly,lovey-dovey song
    somewhere on here.It's a spirit lifter,though.

This is a great CD,and,I must say,the game got WAY more criticism than it
deserved.I know my other review on the Shadow CD didn't make ANY sense
    (sorry about that,Amazon users;it was my first review),but I know what I'm
talking about now. This is a great CD,and any rock fan will love it.

    2 out of 5 stars A for effort, C- for content. (F+ for value).......2007-02-12

Sensible as it may seem due to the nature of the material, splitting the music from the 3D Sonic games into a double or triple album for the score and an EP for the vocal soundtrack makes for a major thorn in the Western importer's side. While director Jun Senoue was able to scrounge up the best summary he could for American release for Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Heroes, a failure to sell kept him from doing the same to Shadow the Hedgehog. And his efforts in Shadow the Hedgehog kept him off the most recent and confusingly second self-titled Sonic game. (Third if you count the 8-bit series.)

Or it would have, in theory, if Jun considered his work a typical 9 to 5 job. But just because he was too swamped to pen new material doesn't keep his guitarwork and his ever-morphing project Crush 40 off the game, offering up a Bond theme cover of Magna-Fi's "All Hail Shadow"; a side-by-side comparison with the original will prove how much fun it truly is to listen to Jun's infectious licks and lead vocalist Johnny Gioeli's trademark orgy of overdubs.

But as one might imagine, that only covered Shadow's theme. The task of the main theme/Sonic's theme (one in the same on this title) was thrown to Zebrahead mouthpieces Matty Lewis & Ali Tabatabae, collaborating with Gioeli to pen "His World", an synth/orchestral exercise in simply trying to satisfy too many criteria at once. It's too sluggish, despite Ali's rapping, to be a true Sonic theme, and it lacks the punch to roll over the end credits effectively.

So, the three collaborators decided to have some fun and turn this disc into a half-soundtrack/half-remix CD. Matty and Ali took His World back to Zebrahead, cranked up the tempo and turned it into a true rap-rocker, rewriting the tune to fit the band's usual caliber. Johnny stripped the work down to his own contributions and finished writing the song on his own terms, returning something entirely different from Crush 40's usual fare--you can barely tell it's the same band that sung AHS earlier on the record--Gioeli's first contribution that not only goes beyond lyrics, but composing the entire song. The fans of the two bands can bicker circles around the question of which one's better, but it's apples and oranges and all that's really apparent is both songs blow the album's opening track out of the water. Shame Sonic Team didn't use Crush's version as a main theme and Zebrahead's as Sonic's, but the game never mustered up quite as much interest as its soundtrack anyway.

This takes us to the two remaining songs, which cripple the disc. The beauty of EP's is it keeps the tunes from running together, but the material has to be consistent in quality in order to work. The Remix Factory's Lee Brotherton tries his hand at Silver's theme with "Dreams of an Absolution", but like the character, it succeeds in being little more than white noise. Once again, Jun Senoue steps in for backup, and brightens the arrangement some, but there's only so much you can do with such a droning melody. I guess the four chiefs of this disc understand that to a certain extent because they don't even touch "My Destiny", the six-minute ballad. It's simply unbearable for a whole new set of reasons. Not because of the smoggy mixing, like Shadow's SA2 level music, and not because of the cheesy lyrics, which plagued Sonic Heroes. No, it's because it's a damned six-minute ballad. Anyone could have told Sonic Team this was a bad idea, but--ever-so-unfortunately--nobody did. And here it is. (If only your CD player could total up the time a song FEELS like.)

All in all, the effort that went into His World is so impeccable, it's almost a shame that the only other highlight here is a rehash. Slap a $25 price tag on that and it's just flat-out unimpressive in the worst kind of way. The sad truth is that if Sonic Team continues down the line of producing multiple 3D games at once, there just won't be enough Jun & Johnny to go around.

The Album cover I have is Different from the one shown here. I got mine at California Adventure, but the tracks are still the same. This album has it's up's and downs as far as being organized. For instance, Parades, Shows, and Attractions are not kept together. I got this album strictly for Soarin' Over California, and California Screamin'. But they are not together on the soundtrack. The Parades and Shows are definitely Disney in their content, but now they have a more "contemporary artist" sound to them, especially Tracks 1, 2 and 13. If you are eager to get this album for it's current content, I guarantee you will enjoy it. However, just like the many Disneyland Albums in the past, they come out with a new one every year. Each year they keep the popular songs and add more new tracks. I would suggest waiting to see if they will add "Tower Of Terror" to the California Adventure soundtrack next year, since Tower of Terror is scheduled to open this year.

I am a dj from the chicago area and i am faithfully seeking all old school chicago house music. As all real dj's know, you can't use a cd that has already been mixed by another dj. When I purchased Trax 20th anniversary cd there was no indication that the tracks listed were already mixed. This cd is totally useless to me. There should be some sort of indication letting the consumer know if the track listing is mixed or individual tracks.

      4 out of 5 stars I give you acid..........2005-01-19

wow... I read about this in some mag. I first heard this while I was kinda coming outta my 'goth/ alternative' stage ~1988. I bought this cassette called House Hallucinates @ Rainbow Records (a chain that is now all out of biz I think). Anyways, there were these tracks on there that was a sound I had never heard before. I played that tape hundreds of times blasting out of my silver 16v Scirocco. :) So anyways... flash forward to like 1990 or so and we're at Bonnie Dune beach in Santa Cruz for Wicked's full moon parties with SF djs Garth, Jeno, Markie and Thomas just blowing minds. But I'm outta my gourd and a couple of these songs on this compilation come on and just like take me over the top. Well, some naked guy then jumped into a camp fire and the cops don't bust the thousands of people dancing under a beautiful summer sky but ticket everyone's car... but a handful. mine included... Anyways, AcidHouse was just so raw. This compilation/ label (Trax)/ sound/ etc just completely got me hyped on the whole thing and now like 15 years later still doing the do. I bought myself a TB-303, SH-101 and all that. Here's to the infinite beat...

i first heard about this release in xlr8r, which was quite surprising since i was reading it at a studio run by vince lawrence, creator of one of the first (THE first, according to screamin' rachel) house tracks. he didn't go on to be a big name, but his track ('phantasy') is great. what makes this release so powerful, though, is that this is one of the lesser tracks on the three discs. not only that, the mix job on the first two is brilliant, carrying you from one track tot he next without any break in momentum. if you like house, or you ever wanted to know what it is, this is the place to start.

Beware this CD it comes with copy protection software that doesn't uninstall. It replaces 4 system DLL's with it's own. Also you can't rip this CD you can only use the supplied music player.

I recommend staying a country mile away from this CD.

5 out of 5 stars If were specifically looking for the CD and songs included.......2006-08-20

The CD was great! It was what I was looking for and more. The only draw back during the process, was that they sent me the wrong CD at first. I immediately sent in back and they sent me the correct CD. I can't wait to share the CD with my friends overseas, they'll love it!

      4 out of 5 stars LOVED IT!!!.......2006-07-17

I liked this one alot better than the first one because I like the tv sized versons and the full versons on this cd. On the first volume the songs did'nt even sound like the same song that I heard at the end of the episodes, however it is a little annoying that that a few of the songs pop up about three times. But if you loved the inuyasha music at the end of the episodes than you'll definetly enjoy this cd!

      5 out of 5 stars Recommeded.......2006-07-14

First of all I know that this is a lot of money for a CD, but it is worth it. Moreover, there are sellers on ebay and other websites offering this CD for less - I wouldn't trust them. From first hand experience there are some really good bootleg copies, but they don't play the same. I got this CD for less on overstock dot com try them if you want a discount.

That said, this CD does have nearly all of the songs on the first soundtrack, but they are TV sized or the length that is ran during the opening/ending credits. There are six new songs that are full length on the CD. One is really interesting since I haven't heard it on the show (Adult Swim rarely plays the openings) and it has a salsa flare that is really good (04 ANGELUS). Plus you get a bouns instrumental that is simple wonderful.

If you are a fan of the show I'd say go of it you will not be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars Another Great Inuyasha Soundtrack.......2006-06-19

This is the second "Best of Inuyasha" CD, being the second it doesn't have as many new songs on it. I recommend buying the first Best of Inuyasha CD first because... well, because it was made first.

If you bought the first album, you would probably like the second one to complete your set. But completing the set of Inuyasha CDs is not the only reason to buy this CD, because even though it only has 6 new songs, those 6 songs are fully worth the amount you pay for this CD.

If you watch the series, all the opening and closing credit songs from "Come" to the end of the series are on this CD. All ones before "Come" are on the first "Best of Inuyasha" CD. This CD also contains the TV sized verions of all of the Inuyasha opening and ending songs, including those from the first CD, but the TV sized versions are only 90 seconds and do not pack the punch of the full versions that are all in the 4-5 minute range.

I would recommend this CD to anyone who likes the songs on the series, and if you haven't seen the series before and have the money to spend, you should buy it and see how you like it, because it is a very great CD.

2 out of 5 stars It's not just bad remastering!.......2006-12-10

The problem here goes beyond just bad remastering. The first second or two of the first track, "Man Should Surrender", is actually CUT OFF!! This wouldn't matter so much if it were a song that fades in, but this song starts right on the beat. The original vinyl is the only way to hear this song begin on the first beat. The PAILHEAD cd that preceded this one made the same mistake with this same song, although not as much was cut off there as on SIDE TRAX. I bought this CD partly to correct that problem, but no such luck. At least the other Ministry reissue, EARLY TRAX, corrected this problem with the song, "Every Day Is Holloween". The begining of that song was butchered this same way on the TWELVE INCH SINGLES cd.

5 out of 5 stars All you need now is RevCo's Beer's, Steers & Queers...LARD.......2005-05-14

This CD hasn't left my CD player since I got it...I'm from Chicago...and used to go to Wax Trax back in 89'...I remember hearing ACID HORSE'S "No Name No Slogan" for the first time there and asking Chris Connelly who sang it (most of Ministry was working at Wax Trax at one point or another)...for years I thought he said "Acid House"...Ah, the joke was on me...

The fact that this CD has all the releases from Pailhead, 1000 HOMO DJ's, PTP and Acid Horse is simply amazing...it flows like a great mix tape...all you need to get now is LARD: The Power of Lard and Revolting Cocks: Beers, Steers & Queers and your set.

Oh yeah...Pick up a copy of Ministry's Land of Rape and Honey while your at it.

5 out of 5 stars The other sides of a stunning band.........2005-05-03

First off, the copy i own isn't problematic as some reviewers here report about theirs which is a big relief indeed because who would want such an essential release marred by poor sound quality?
On to more important things then, as is the case with "Early trax", this compilation was also way overdue, and it's bells in the ears for those who appreciate high quality music of any kind.

Ministry's side projects were never the usual "lets experiment with some stuff noone wants to hear" affair that is often the case with other bands. Instead they were intriguing (and diverse even) musical side projects with always something extra to offer to the band's dedicated fans.

Sure, in most of these side projects, the song remains the same in a sense. It's industrial, industrial, industrial. That, with the exception of LARD possibly -which veers off to glam rock in certain instances- is a recipe that Ministry have become the true masters of, the measuring unit (or one of the main ones in any case) for others to count themselves up against.

Everyone will differ in favorites here naturally, but in my humble opinion the track that easily stands out is "Hey as****e" from 1000 Homo DJs. It's a track that is reminiscent in a way to a Bodycount track (remember them?), with the difference being that while the setting is similar it's much more sarcastic and caustic, and definetely more explosive and bombastic.

"Supernaut" (a perennial live concert Ministry classic) is also a show stealer as are "Dont stand in line" and "Man should surrender" from Pailhead.

But it's pointless to pick out things here. This is an essential release from one of the most influential and way ahead of its time bands. Ministry were on such a par with their side projects as well as when they were being the Ministry we know.

The fact that some of these tracks go back 10 years or longer and yet they are as relevant as it gets musically still today says it all.

2 out of 5 stars Gotta agree with REX on this one..........2004-12-29

Something must have gone horribly wrong in the remastering, as this disc sounds as soft and flat as the original Wax/Trax! discs (at least in the case of Pailhead and 1000 Homo DJs). It's a shame as the other Ministry/RevCo reissues are so "in your face". Perhaps a "WTF???" e-mail to Ryko is in order....

      5 out of 5 stars yes.......2004-11-15
