5 out of 5 stars One of my favourites of all time.......2004-02-28

This album was one of those lucky finds in the CD Club I was a member of- I saw the name Deep Forest and bought it without knowing anything else about it. I am so glad! This album makes me want to dance and dream. It can both move your body and put you in a trance. A great intersection of Jon Anderson's cerebral wistfulness, Deep Forest and others' adventurousness, and the Latin flavour of the original songs.

5 out of 5 stars deseo remixes.......2003-01-02

I have owned this this cd before I had to buy it agian, it was stolen from me. I bought it when it first came out and 7 yrs later it still sounds good

5 out of 5 stars It's Damn Good..........2001-02-08

Moves you like Sasha and Digweed. Vibrant and exotic. Expansive. Gets in there and writhes. It's a superb and unique recording. Cerebrally stimulating. Brings you up and lets you go...you'll love it.

      5 out of 5 stars Truly.......Da BOMB!.......2000-02-22

All I can say is that I really Love this CD, I admit that it had to grow on me at first and did it ever! It's a mixture of Soulful Vocals and Pulsating Speed Garage Beats....... No Two Step tunes here....just good Pure Garage. I think this is the Best CD that Tuff Jams has put out to date. Some of the best tracks are "Sweet Love(Got Me)", "Happiness" and "If You Wanna". If you really like Slammin' House Grooves with Soulful vocals than this is the CD for you.

3 out of 5 stars hmm not as good as i hoped.......1999-10-23

5 out of 5 stars This CD is a waste of money!!! Do NOT buy it!!!.......1999-05-17

If you are looking for Speed Garage, I highly recommend buying Basslines or Groove Radio International before buying this. I bought it, and it was a waste of money.

5 out of 5 stars This is one of the best SpeedGarage compilation albums!.......1999-02-08

This CD is infectious! As that ol' London Pirate Radio station, Girls FM used to say, "Once you hear it, you'll be addicted!" Tuff Jam are great! Tuff Jam take us to school with one of the songs that started it all, SPIN SPIN SUGAR (Armand's Dark Garage Mix), track 1. Then it's straight into Michelle Weeks' "Don't Give Up!" Wow! But wait, there's more!!! Next stop on the music train is Tuff Jam's own LOVE SHY by Kristine Blond. Sing along with me, "Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey . . .thinking about you-ooooo!" So you say you are missing the infamous SpeedGarage skip. No need to worry, Tuff Jam hook you up on track 4, Pepper Mashay HAPPINESS! Get ready to go FULL BLAST with the TUFF JAM! Don't sleep yet, Todd Edwards is up next on Track 5 AWAY by Mantra feauturing Lydia Rhodes. Bop your head. This song is buttah! Buy three copies of this CD, one for home, one for office, and one for the car! Why? You will want to blast Tuff Jam's (Even Closer Mix of) CLOSER THAN CLOSE by Rosie Gains. Then ofcourse you've got Nu Birth's ANYTIME, track 11. Deep! Bass, how low can you go!! Finally Tuff Jam put the icing on this beautiful multi-layered cake by ending the disc and blessing us with the bliss Garage of Roy Davies Jr. GABRIELLE!

5 out of 5 stars Massive dance Floor tracks.......2006-05-20

City Life: Underground London, a two disc set, mixed by Joel Xavier and Kid Massive, seems to capture the vibe of the worlds most alive and glowing city, bringing it to life in vivid color. With some huge dancefloor tracks, stunningly deep jazzy grooves, great vocal, latin soul and live instruments, underground london puts you in the mood for a late night at a cocktail bar or a fabulously chic hotel boutique.

5 out of 5 stars More then cover art.......2006-05-06

The album cover art is not the only factor that attracts listeners to CityLife/ Underground music, inside the album its completely upmarket house and stylish smooth These tracks are picked from some of the hottest smooth house labels.
Its the perfect bar house soundtrack for a nightout.

5 out of 5 stars Pretty classic disc.......2006-05-03

I found the perfect description of this album on myVillage.com "Upmarket house, stylish smooth- like the soundtrack to a high octane night out in a bar dripping in cool." I COULDNT AGREE WITH THEM MORE! CityLife drops some deep jazzy house that you could bounce to. It's not one of those albums that you get bored of after a few songs, youll love it till the very end. If your a fan of Bargooves, and Afterdark, CityLife will take those to the next level.

      4 out of 5 stars Great buy.......2003-09-13

Unlike the previous "reviewer" I've listened to this album. It has nothing to do with false advertising. The words, "Future Sound Of London" are not copyrighted. And here, it is the title, not the name of the band. Anyone, who likes new school breaks will enjoy this album pretty much. Especially for the second disc is the wonderful Layo and Buswacka disc, Low Life. And Mr. C does a pretty good job at selecting some great tunes.

      1 out of 5 stars False advertizing.......2002-09-03

It always gets my goat when an exceptional band's name is modified just enough as to not get in trouble, yet draw the attention of fans of said band. I havn't even heard this album, but now I'm less likely to listen to it now that they've had me look at this page thinking it was another FSOL release...I guess it's kind of like Macdonald's advertizing regarding their vegetarian menu, stating in very small print that these "veggie" products most likely have come into contact with several meat products. The "Fast-food-ization of the "developed" world continues.

The effort to categorize and document the history of electronic dance music has intensified over the past few years, resulting in countless CD compilations and several cinematic documentaries. The latest is Better Living Through Circuitry, and the soundtrack suggests an attempt to link the current sounds to the industrial music movement of the 1980s. Representing the old school are Psychic TV and Meat Beat Manifesto, the latter of which shows up with "Money for E," a 1987 track from their prolific (and arguably most interesting) foray into acid-house dance music. Although the disc is weighted down with label-affiliated B-list tracks from Keoki and Electric Skychurch, the inclusion of Roni Size's revolutionary "Brown Paper Bag" and Future Sound of London's classic "Expander (Remix)" lend the collection a solid air of credibility. Although trying to capture the essence of the electronic dance underground in a mere 70 minutes is an impossible task, Better Living Through Circuitry makes an enjoyable and interesting introduction. --David Prince

      Customer Reviews:

      3 out of 5 stars decent.......2003-06-30

Decent compilation. Nothing groundbreaking. Your typical techno dance stuff. The annoying sound clips between songs brings this one star down. Not everyone is into the whole silly rave scene.

4 out of 5 stars Great music, so-so sound bytes.......2001-05-05

I love the music they selected for this compilation, but I do have one complaint... At the end of a track, you'll find yourself listening to someone talking about the type of music or the scene... It can really throw you if you aren't ready for it, and doesn't work well when you've got a bunch of tracks from various CDs randomly cycling through.

5 out of 5 stars A perfect look into the Digital Underground........2000-05-22

It's almost a shame that such increadible artists go unrecognized (with the possible exceptions of Crystal Method and Roni Size). Moonshine Music's compliation CD, Better living through circuitry, absolutely brings together some of the best dance artists out there and packages them all onto one CD. It's tough to pick stand out tracks, but the following are probably the most exciting to listen to:

Keoki's "Caterpillar" DJ Spooky's "Peace in Zaire." This is actually a remix of Sublime's "Doin' Time," created into a dance beat. Roni Size's "Brown Paper Bag" Electric Skychurch, "Deus" and of course, Crystal Method's "Now is the time"

If you do NOT know all too much about dance music, specifically electronica and techno, this CD is a must. Even for those of us who know this genre fairly well, it's an ideal compilation to bring some of the best artists together.

      5 out of 5 stars A great techno compilation!.......2000-05-05

I, once again, bought this album for Meat Beat Manifesto's new track, "Parts 1-4". While MBM proves to be outstanding once more, the other tracks on this CD are addicting. The same thing happened with the CD compilation Earthdance -- bought it for MBM, got a lot more out of it! I especially like others such as "Freaks" by Uberzone and "Endor Fun" by LCD (especially the little Speak & Spell effect at the beginning). And if you listen closely to the beginning of "Peace in Zaire by DJ Spooky, it sounds like a garbled Sublime track ("Doin' Time"). This is a great compilation for techno freaks or someone who wants to throw a great dance party. If I get a chance, I am also going to see the film that this soundtrack comes from, "Better Living Through Circuitry".

      P.S. MBM RULES!
