About the Artist
E-Quad was formed in 2001 by bass-player / composer Eric van der Westen when he searched for new ways to express his musical ideas. Hooking up with midi wizard Hans Timmermans and sound designer Oliver Nijs they worked for 2 years as a producers trio, doing their gigs with several guests for the occasion.

E-Quad has found an exciting balance working with samples and beats and acoustic instruments. The alternative dance music moves between World Groove, Drum ’n Bass, Big Beat and a touch of Chemical. E-Quad can be heard in clubs but also in special cultural productions or during festivals. The band toured through South Africa in 2003 performing at the well known Oppie Koppie Festival with a selection of great SA musos and the band performed at the Festival Mundial in Holland. Several artistic and cultural happenings have benefitted from the bands performance like "Eyeing P.P.", a multi disciplinary arts project from van der Westen where E-Quad really used a great amount of improvisation to great success. This is one of the main qualities E-Quad posseses;flexible and able to really work with improvisation in music styles that aren't familiar with that. Despite all the other projects the band managed to finish their first album and currently negotiations are held prior to the international release. The band works in a more producer's kind of way. There is great knowledge of all things necessary to create new, good and challenging music. When the band performs live, it adds different players to the basic trio. E-Quad line up: Eric van der Westen (acoustic & electric basses, vocals), Hans Timmermans (beats), Olivier Nijs (samples and sound design) Guest musicians from all over the world appear on recordings and at performances when available.
