Album Description

Born in Bermuda, Mishka lived with his parents on a sailboat from the age of three onwards. Lyrically, his favorite similes are of the sea - he has a bulging notebook of "ocean songs." In conversation, he looks back without evident nostalgia or myth-making on an early life growing up at sea. While other children were glued to the television and video games, Mishka was offered endless hours in which to reflect, draw, read and write.

Fast-forward to the present, and you find a man in his mid-twenties whose songs sound like the work of a young Sam Cooke mixed with shades of Bob Marley and that indefinable something that heralds a great pop record. Attempting to analyze that "X factor" only adds to the mystery. As Mishka reminds us: "People always check out your influences, but you don't really know what your influences are. It might be a bird singing while you're walking down the street or a breeze going past you. That could be what makes you want to write a song."

Better than the first.......2007-07-12

I enjoyed the first Mishka cd. But this one is by far the best. The first album has alot of nice melodies that stick in your head. But One Tree is deeper and more complex with better production. Its become one of my favorite reggae cd's

Confused... and disappointed...........2007-02-28

I had the same problem as another reviewer. I placed the new CD into my drive and it prompted me to install "FED LOG" -- some sort of governmental search program. I have found information on the web on Fed Log but it seems to be some sort of restricted software. After hearing Mishka on his website I was eager to purchase the CD, but there is NO MUSIC on this CD, it's the Fed Log program only. What's the deal??

Where is the music?.......2007-01-15

We bought the CD as a gift and there was no music on the CD. Instead there was a computer program. It was a database access program and no MUSIC. We called Amazon and discussed and received no resolution.

LIFE CHANGING.......2007-01-04

You know the CD's that just strike a chord deep inside? This is one of those. It gets to the heart of life. Pure and simple beautiful music from the soul. THE WHOLE CD IS GREAT FROM START TO FINISH. Mishka's One Tree is a necessity for any true music lover.

Worth every penny.......2006-07-03

It was a real coincidence that I discovered Mishka. I absolutely loved his first CD and I think the second one is equally as wonderful as the first. Last night I played it for two of my friends and they are hooked. I can't wait to hear more from Mishka. "One Tree" is well worth purchasing.

this cd, and i presume artist (this was from what..1999? he could've evolved), is garbage. purchased completely unheard based off all of the raving 5 star reviews and comparisons to jack johnson and ben harper that i read here at amazon. what a load of bull...mishka himself must've came on here and written those himself. i guess if you are into extremely slow tempoed, john mayer ballad type songs this may be good, but to compare him to jack and ben harper who can actually play instruments and get funky is a travesty.

Reggae music makes you feel good and Mishka captures the reggae feel-good with not only his music talents but with a gorgeous voice. Very captivating and soothing sounds, song after song. He's also kinda nice to look at as well!

This is the ultimate morning after disc. His rolling on the waves attitude and feel is unique and worth a repeated listening. Definately a must have!

Reminds me of Bob Marley..........2003-03-07

Organic is the word that comes to mind. Soul-soothing music in the vein of Bob Marley. Highly recommended.

Mishka is a dreadlocked master of chill out. The perfect album to relax and pretend you can sing to. The 5 star rating is no over exageration, I first heard Mishka from a friend on a trip to Liverpool and it seemed to fit the mood completly. Whilst sitting on a rooftop 5 floors up over looking the city on a warm summers day. This is what the mood of the album is all about layzin in the sun. Mishka has a pure voice, very smooth and inspiring. From the opening track'I give you all my love' which is a smooth sounding song about love and his relationship with crystal clear seas. To 'Loney' a song of heartbreak you can't go wrong with this purchase. Seeing him at Glastonbury I got a feeling of his identity and his origins which are still unpolluted despite his new relative fame. Basically, If your feeling stressed with the hum drum of the modern superhighway that is life and need reminding what its all about, buy this put it on, lay down, shut your eyes and drift away to a sandy beach with warm blue sea, you can really feel that sun on your face.
