This is still one of my favorite all-time No Limit cd's...This cd was highly underated and underappreciated...I love this album to this day and always will remember some of the bangin No Limit cd's and how No Limit made the game what it is today...

4 out of 5 stars 2nd solo and his 2nd best album.......2005-03-04

Serv On is back after a year and a half off since his ok debut. Of the 4 Serv albums I have (I don't have "Take A Sip") this is my 2nd favorite one. Although it is on No Limit so you get a ton of guests on here (only 5 solos out of 20 songs) but he does good where he get's his chance. As usual with Serv, you get some good deep songs, some about hustlin' and gangsta life and a few dirty ones as well. It has 1 classic, 9 good songs, 6 ok songs, and 4 that I skip, so it could have been a good 14-16 song 4.5 star album but oh well. Production is pretty good (as ususal by Beats by the Pound Crew). Carlos Stephens does 6 songs, KLC (4 songs), Craig B (3 songs), O'Dell and Mo B Dick (2 songs each), and Mark in the Dark, Ke'noe and Sons of Funk each do 1 song. A must have album for Serv and down south rap fans.

#2 - 8 (f/ c murder, fiend, lil soldiers, kane, abel, mia x)
#3 - 7 (f/ fiend, mystikal)
#4 - 9 (good beat -- F/ Big Punisher (R.I.P.))
#5 - 7.5
#6 - 7 (f/ magic)
#7 - 8.5 (deep song)
#8 - 8 (f/ c-murder -- sequel about his best friend "His lady")
#9 - 7
#10 - 9 (f/ magic & c-murder)
#11 - 4 (f/ mia x)
#12 - 6.5 (f/ sons of funk -- deep song)

5 out of 5 stars I love this album.......2003-03-18

I love this album because not only does he avoid the sophomore slump, he takes time to step up his rap game as well. It's like he gave us an inner path inside his mind. My favorite tracks are "The Last Song", "Murder", & "Tank Nigga". Not a bad album

    2 out of 5 stars It's a Toss up.......2001-05-28

This cat Lil E is a cross between The Realest, and Tupac with a southern voice. He's just another Tupac sound a like. Which isn't so good. Even though he do got some nice tacks on this CD, It still not that good of an album. But if you a southern Rap fan, than this a CD that you would get. Other than that, It would be a toss up. The Production is bad, not horrible bad, but bad. If the production was better I'd give it a four, but a two what I gave it. I took one star off for production, one stars off for sounding like Tupac. And one more star just because I just don't like it too much

OVERALL Evaluation: Get it? If you want, but personally I wouldn't.

By adding some older flavors to his stew of future music, Miami's own trance-dance sound machine George Acosta has come up with an amazing record. Rounded by a frivolous sense of fun and 3 a.m. hip-shaking, Acosta gets the BPMs revved and hypnotic by his third selection, Perpetuous Dreamer's "The Sound of Goodbye (Above & Beyond Mix)." After that the party just gets harder. Moon Project's pumping "Moments Are Forever," the Sasha-tinged tones of Sunscreem vs Push's "Save Me (Push Remix)," and the joyous rave cheese of Planet Punk's "X-T-Cee" are all about pure, unadulterated glee. Acosta has fashioned a great Saturday night summer house party record for those who want to dance a lot, trance a bit, but never, ever chill out. --Steffan Chirazi

3 out of 5 stars Acosta is NOT known for Top 40 trance.......2005-05-10

This album ranks up there with History of Trance, because it contains way too many mainstream hits.Of course for newbies, this cd will open the door to the wonderful world of trance.Fans of dance will enjoy this, true trance lovers needen't get this, there is much better stuff of George's out there.Since Acosta is the world's best trance dj,I have to say that he did a damn good job mixing the tracks, especially his own "Reeper",which remains one of the best Acosta tracks.

    4 out of 5 stars Great CD.......2004-01-13

I think this CD is awesome. You can listen to it again and again and love the music.

    5 out of 5 stars A Must Have!!!.......2003-02-05

George Acosta is one of the greatest trance DJ's ever and this album more than proves it. With great vocal songs like Perpetuous Dreamer's "The Sound of Goodbye", and hard hitting beats like "Suburban Train-Cosmic Gate Mix" this album definitly makes you want to get up and dance. My recommendation. . .Buy this CD immediately.

4 out of 5 stars Reeper is the one of the best among the tracks.......2003-02-02

I heard the reeper in a club, and I loved that.so I got the CD,there are 4 tracks that are really great.Like #4,5,10,and 11.I really like his work,it is nice and deep

    5 out of 5 stars Great Mix.......2002-12-05

George Acosta, in my opinion, is the best trance DJ out there. I have every CD he's put out and I love them all (with the exception of Release: AM Edition). He doesn't play mainstream top 40 dance/trance remixes of songs on the radio. If you're into the "scene" at all, you'll appreciate his work.

    Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars My View Review.......2004-04-16

I felt the CD has some beautiful songs. I just feel that he should try to appeal to more than just 16-24. Some people are a little more traditional. He made no attempt to communicate with those of use who have been in church since child hood. True enough I am 28 and I do like contemporary urban gospel. He came really close with 'Uh Uh Peace'. The entire cd is wonderful I just believe that he should want to touch more than just one generation. For example: an a capella spiritual, a traditional sunday morning song with a foot stompin' hand clappin' feel of his own original words, maybe a country gospel toon. I just feel like he has boxed himself in to one avenue. I don't see the creativity.

Make no mistake, I love the CD. I listen to it regularly.

5 out of 5 stars Loving Greg O'quin's title cut "Unh-Unh".......2003-05-08

If you don't have this CD, then you should get it in a hurry. I heard one cut ( title: Unh-Unh) and fell in love with it, then I bought the whole CD, and it is "AWESOME", (One of the cuts on this CD). This is definitely by far the best I have heard from Greg O'quin. As long as he (Mr. O'quin) keeps telling the storm, everything is going to be great. God has really worked in you with this project. It is rejoicing to my soul everytime I hear it (everyday, all-day). GOD IS "EVERYTHING" (another cut).

5 out of 5 stars The Perfect CD If Your Going Through A Storm.......2003-01-10

thiz cd is wonderful and it will minister to your soul if you are going through a storm because the songs help you get through your storm. the song Unh-unh! and I told the storm tells you what to tell your storm. I really liked the interludes and Greg's storm because he is real with what was going on in his life and how he made it through his storms because "my God surrounds us"

    5 out of 5 stars Anointed.......2002-06-06

Saints let me tell ya. When I first got the cd I was a pretty big O'quin fan. But when I put the cd in I got to the first couple of songs and judged them by the beat so I did what most people probably did and fast-forwarded to "I told the Storm (Remix)". Well I gave the cd another chance the next day at work and as I have been going through some thing I was praying and the Lord opened my ears and heart to "Awesome", "Unh-Unh!" and "I told the Storm" the Spirit began to sit in and minister to me. A word is what I receive (present tense) when I listen to it.
For anyone that's going through you need this cd for anyone that's not you need this cd b/c we all have storms come in our lifes.

    5 out of 5 stars great CD.......2001-09-17

This CD is in the stores now - great CD - if you have the opportunity to pick this one up - you will love it - not saying that because - it is awesome. Shouts out to James Pickney a member of Greg O'Quin and Joyful Noyze and a member of Pleasant Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas.

    Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Quality Nu Breaks Mix with Longevity.......2002-08-31

.... I brought this CD almost a year ago and it still gets much rotation. It has all of the attributes of a quality breaks CD. Excellent mixing and deft, funky, quirky beats and basslines that don't stray too far to the darker side of breaks.

The key here is selection. There's a generous smattering of deep, teeth-clenchingly satisfying bangers ("M.A.C.E.", "Mr. Jingles", "What Sounds Are"), punctuated by steady, bubbling burners ("Turquoise", "Q-Tohn", "High Rollin'"). The beginning three tracks start off the CD nicely with a nod to the funkier side of nu breaks. When I say that, it's not a reference to the "funky breaks" genre; just listen to "Come Alive" - it's infectious and has the unmistakeable rhythmic, deep, percussive dopeness that nu breaks is all about.

Also, this CD far outshines most of the other breaks CDs out there. Tayo's 4YK contribution had potential (I mean, it's a good CD) but suffered from a lack of cohesion and application of some well-heard tunes (how many dang mixes is "Gyromancer" on??). And Bedrock Breaks was also hit and miss.

But believe me, Koma and Bones' Y4K offering has got to be the sure shot.

4 out of 5 stars A needed infusion of excitement restored to this series.......2001-10-12

Let's just go ahead and get this out of the way. Koma & Bones are actually three lads from Lancaster and have one of the worst monikers in the business. While simultaneously releasing their own artist album Blinded By Science, they've now been handed the next installment of Distinctive Breaks' Next Level Breaks series. Fitting the Next Level title, they serve up British breakbeat in all forms: dubby, trancey, more than a tad housey. Think two steps removed from Hybrid but still conceivable in a progressive DJ set and you're about there.

As for the hits, ace producer Chris Carter dishes out another winner, the hot electric tease "What Sounds Are". Circulation and BLIM team up for an appropriately techy/gritty "Turquoise," a grubby twin to Future Sound of London's "Papua New Guinea." Bringing up the end, Phender certainly backs up the claim that "Rhythm is This", while PMT goes dark and moody on Way Out West's vocal "Intensify."

Koma & Bones pull off a winning mix because they decide to have some fun, avoiding the dour earnestness of the prior episodes. Anyone willing to play a track with that disco "Toot Toot, Beep Beep" sample inside ("MACE") obviously gets it. It's a needed infusion of excitement restored to this series.

Marty Dread is known as the Reggae Ambassador! As a recording artist, radio disc jockey, and live performer, Marty Dread draws inspiration from his tropical home on the Hawaiian island of Maui and spreads it around the world. Marty Dread has released seven of his own recordings, including two that have been nominated for Best Reggae Album of the Year. With his latest release, "The Next Level," Marty teams up with DJ Shakin Melodiz and takes his music to "the next level." Shakin Melodiz' DJ influence is evident as soon as you put the cd on with "No Mo' Slippah pt. 2," which is reminiscent of Sudden Rush. The song "Can't Let Go" is a perfect blend of Marty's reggae rap against a smooth R&B groove. "You are the Church" has a more traditional reggae feel, and should be a favorite of reggae fans.

Marty Dread has been performing on stage for more than a decade. His energetic, crowd pleasing show has opened for many reggae greats, including Ziggy Marley, Steel Pulse, Jimmy Cliff, Black Uhuru, Inner Circle, Aswad, Third World, Maxi Priest, Shaggy, the Wailers, Yellowman, Pato Banton, Don Carlos, Eek a Mouse, Chaka Demus and Pliers, the Congos, and more. Marty Dread has also performed a number of times with Willie Nelson.

Marty Dread blends the vibes of paradise with the universal struggle for love and understanding. Marty Dreads recordings touch the heart and inspire both mind and soul. Listen and feel the vibes!

        5 out of 5 stars In a word...EXCELLENCE!.......2003-07-25

After listening to the entire cd, I believe that Lonnie Hunter and the Voices of St. Mark's main goal was to have a little something for everyone. There were songs that will no doubt appeal to the young, middle-aged, and the more mature saints. Songs like, "Let's Dance" gets you fired up, "Get Back Satan" sounds like a song that would have my mother's head moving from side-to-side, I'm in Need of You" touched a very special place within me that confirmed that God is only a whisper away, and "God So Loved the World" inspires and uplifts. No one word can truly express this phenomenal project, but I can honestly say that it was annointed and ordained by the Holy Spirit. Hats off to you Lonnie and the Voices of St. Mark...continue to be lead by the Holy Spirit because the world needs projects like this to help us get through whatever tests that life may have in store for us. God bless your Ministry!

4 out of 5 stars Cheeky, meaty and full of grins.......2003-01-01

This CD definately evolves as you listen to it more and more. It starts out preppy, two-steppy, fun and cheeky, with Freq Nasty soundbites and reminiscences of greats like "Booming Back Atcha!". From here (around track 3) it drives a little deeper, a little darker and more encompassing. By this time you're completely lost it and you're constantly kept nodding by synthed out basslines and quirky samples of voices in the background. It lets up and gives you a breather at track 11, and in my opinion here it fails to lift me up again. The beat loses its break and the experience becomes more conventional with the inclusion of the fairly overplayed Chemical Brothers song while everything else seems so rare. The last couple couple of tracks pulls down my rating here. It just lost the plot right there, but the first 10 tracks make it worth owning 2 copies of this beaut.

This is the much anticipated release from Distinctive Breaks, and the fifth in the series. I own most of the others, and look forward to the Dub Pistols release Nov 5th. Freq Nasty has his own breakbeat sound, influenced by reggae, dub, and house. Very interesting listening and very dance-floor friendly. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is the fact that it almost but not quite reaches the level of the previous releases. He also features a very good MC who doesn't overwhelm the music like some do, instead he expertly accents the breaks and mixes, giving the album as a whole a little more life. Regardless, this is a very good album and should be in any breakbeat or electronic collection.
