5 out of 5 stars Permanent Marker.......2002-10-19

She's an odd one, but she's a legend. Mixing all different styles from folk to rock to punk to jazz to blues to anything else you can think of! She's armed with a guitar, a fantastic voice (it's brilliant) and a smart arse wit. This was my first Ember album and one of my favorites. At first I couldn't stand Ember, but now I love the girl. She stands on her own two feet and wouldn't have it any other way - she's a definitely if you're an Ani fan. This is a energy packed, funky, smart album well worth buying and listening to over and over again. She's also an independent artist on her own independent label so support her!

i dont want to start a fight but

1) Human Beatbox IS very impressive live. Although when you take it into a studio it looses its effect as the personality with the crowd is lost. Kela knew this and this is why he created this CD. He says himself that a CD of live beatboxing wouldnt get far in the buisness - it is very much a live art. In this CD most of the beatboxing is layerd and mixed, infact there is hardly any straight beatboxing. He treats it as an instrument to be used with other instruments, this is taking beatboxing to another level not done by many other people.

2) Some people like English hiphop - its a nice change from all the American gangster rap coming out recently and to lable it as not being music is just a cop out. But there isnt much straight emceeing on this album either, so i dont see your point. Its almost more of a DJ album. Also if you have ever heard Kela's live shows you would see that he does heave the skills to brag about. But its aslo just part of his stage act - just look at Rahzel.

all up its a great experimental CD that is well worth a purchase if you wanna hear something new and different. theres some nice beats and basslines on it and im eagerly awaiting Kela's next release titled Jawbreaker due out towards the end of 2004.

^_^

5 out of 5 stars Beatboxing.......2003-12-06

This is easily the best beatboxer in the world.Nothing more to say!

4 out of 5 stars koosie.......2003-02-28

Instead of this album i would recommend koos alberts (hoofd schouders wiel en frame)

2 out of 5 stars Two stars for the Nokia ringtone.......2002-09-16

Three complaints;

1) Human beatboxing may well be very impressive live, but it really loses it's importance on a studio-produced disk. It just sounds heavily processed, maybe a more live-sounding CD would have done him more justice.

2) Don't buy this disk if you cringe and get a shudder down your spine listening to London geezers. I despise The Streets for the same reason; Cockney's 'bigging up themselves' aint music. Sadly, that's all the lyrics encompass. Kela sure does love himself too, track one is four minutes worth of his mates blabbering on about how talented he is. Let us find out for ourselves Norman.

3)Long telephone skits aint funny. Kela's credentials went down the pan once I reached this 'track' - alas, he sounds like a complete cretin.
