Cynical types will accuse Disney of milking the "greatest" concept until it's drier than Tinkerbell's fairy dust ("Supercalafragilisticexpealidocious," "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Da," and "Heigh Ho" were hits off of Vol. 1; "Bare Necessities," "It's a Small World," and "Some Day My Prince Will Come" stole the show on Vol. 2), but a glimpse of this installment's track listing is all it'll take to squash their suspicions. Once again running reverse-chronologically, Vol. 3 opens with Jonatha Brooke's gorgeously achy ballad "I'll Try," from 2002's arguably not-so-great Return to Neverland, and gradually reaches back through the years to re-raise the curtain on Toy Story 2 ("When She Loved Me," performed by Sarah McLachlan), The Lion King ("Can You Feel the Love Tonight"), Mary Poppins (Julie Andrews's classic "A Spoonful of Sugar"), Pinocchio ("Give a Little Whistle"), and a bundle of treasured others, bottoming out at 1933's "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf" from The Three Little Pigs. Vol. 3 is not without its weak moments--would a G-rated movie-goers' poll produce Beauty and the Beast's "Gaston" or The Hunchback of Notre Dame's "Topsy Turvy" on a hits list? Seems unlikely. Still, the bulk of these tracks are, as the included Little Mermaid song goes, "Part of Your World," and the spread of decades they represent proves their staying power. Don't expect Disney to latch the lid on its inexhaustible archives until a dozen or so of these records, each as strong as the next, beckon you back for more. --Tammy La Gorce

Disney's greatest hits, volum 3.......2007-05-13
This is one of the better volums for kids and for those who are
above 18 but still have some kid in them
Timeless Disney Music.......2007-05-07
Nothing brings sweet recollection of Disney movies like hearing the wonderful songs. In an age where there so much music with no redeeming qualities, these Disney CDs are priceless. Wonderful for the entire family to listen to around the house or in the car while traveling. We can't help but sing along. We love that these are the original tracks from the movies! Wonderful! We now have all three volumes.
Disney songs are the best.......2006-03-18
I love the songs on this volume. I'll Try by Jonatha Brooke is such an amzing somg. I especially bought this CD fort that song but, was pleasantly surprsed by the rest of the playlist.
Great Disney Music.......2006-02-21
I have bought the first 2 volumes of Disney's Greatest Hits and the 3rd volume doesn't disapoint. My 2 young children love to listen to this CD and talk about the movies that they come from. A definate must have!
Not as good as Vol 1 and Vol 2.......2005-09-11
This Disney CD represents the "leftovers" that didn't make it on Vol 1 and Vol 2 of this series. Although it has some of my favorites, I don't listen to the entire CD often. Disney could have done a better job of editing the which sound files should make the cut on this one. Still, it's nice to have all 3 CDs.

For his fourth solo album, the Cameroon-born bassist/multi-instrumentalist/singer-composer extraordinaire has assembled a crew of seasoned players from various walks of life. These range from Americans like jazz guitarist Mike Stern and triple-Grammy-winning neo-R&B star John Legend to stars from the international firmament, such as guitarist Toninho Horta (ex-Milton Nascimento) and singer-composer Djavan from Brazil and Susheela Raman, a UK-based chanteuse/torch goddess who employs Indian and other influences in her work. The resulting 15 tracks, while certainly incorporating a mélange of influences and couched in decidedly mainstream, soft-jazz production values, nonetheless neatly evade the dreaded "F word" (fusion) -- a term used as a pejorative by certain diehard world music mavens. Known as the "African Sting," Bona comes across as a sunny, soft-spoken presence, with a gently mellifluous tenor, wicked chops and an undeniable ear for a hook. Deferential yet assertive, rootsy yet cosmopolitan, he pursues the African Diaspora to South America, the Caribbean and the USA, blending each local sound with lessons gleaned from his own cultural birthright and later travels. --Christina Roden

Leaning towards a produced less organic sound.......2007-05-01
I've all Richard's albums and been a fan for some time. I bought this album without hesitation, especially after seeing his performance on the Mike Stern Live DVD - check this out if you're into jazz/rock!
Whilst this album is still blessed with the musical gifts that only Richard Bona has, it has leaned towards a more commercial and produced sound and I think it is mixed poorly. Gone is the lovely organic sound that just seeps through you...(Reverence is killer for this). His voice (and other instrumnents) throughout are tilted up in the high frequencies, I find it hard to relax when listening to it. Esoka Bulu demonstrates this aptly and the drum brushes are wafer thin and lack meat to the instrument. The piano sounds like a Casio 100...and I'm sure it wasn't. Calcabro De Copacabana is similar.
Also I think the songs just lack the credibility vs say Reverence which is my fave presently. 'Please Dont Stop' sounds like something that would come off a Victor Wooten album rather than a Richard Bona one. Thankfully this doesn't pervade the album except on the first track although I find Ba Senge heading in vaguely similar territory.
Overall good music generally let down by an ordinary commercial oriented mixing desk and I expect a desite to appeal to a wider mainstream audience...yes the musical message is still there but there's better than this in his previous repertoire as a total experience.
breath, heart, rhythm.......2007-03-24
Richard Bona has it all: rhythms that drive you out of your seat to dance, a great voice, pastoriesque chops on the bass, and a whole lot of heart. This is a fantastic album.
A new turn for Bona.......2007-03-08
I love this guy's music. Along with people like Vusi Mahlasela and Lokua Kanza, he's one of the great contemporary African vocalists and musicians. This lbum is a bit more mainstreamed/Americanized, but it's still very good.
Brilliant musician and composer.......2007-01-04
The music is so well written that the listener is just taken on this discovery in style and quality for the ears and the soul

We love this cd.......2007-01-10
My daughter is a big fan of this kind of music and anything tiki. This was a Christmas present for her and she loves it. Great quality and prompt service from Amazon. Thanks!
A taste of Capitols huge vintage catalog.......2006-09-23
The entire ultra-lounge series is excellent. However, all of the CD's in this collection only add up to a small tantilizing taste of the huge back catalog of vintage easy listening albums from the 50's & 60's - not to mention the Hawaiian LP's which are surpisingly underrepresented on the Tiki Sample and in the Ultra-Lounge series as a whole. Common Captiol/EMI, start releasing some of these vintage albums in their complete form!!!!!!!!!!
Should Not be played at A.A. Meetings........2006-06-01
This is a great CD. Full of tracks that are perfect for almost any occasion: The Beach, Backyard Bar-B- Ques, Vacations or just Relaxing. This is an album that supports drinking and a carefree lifestyle. It supports what I believe in so I support it!
Louis Prima makes David Lee Roth sound like a virgin..........2004-12-06
I never got the lounge music thing but this collection worked for me because it's the very best one or two tracks from the large amount of lounge CD collections available from Capitol. 23 tracks including Nelson Riddle doing My Three Sons, Peggy Lee doing The Boy From Ipanema, , Mel Torme butchering Happy Together, Les Baxter, Jackie Gleason, Julie London, Lena Horne, Nancy Wilson, and so on. Plus the theme's from The Munster's and Get Smart. Lot's of fun here.
Ultra Cool.......2004-06-06
I own all the ultra lounge CDs. This is a great sample set and a great place to start if you are new to the series. The Fuzzy Sampler is good too, along with Vegas Baby. Ultra lounge series has alwasy been heavy on instramentals...some great, some ok. This disc has a lot of intrumentals but every one is a gem! i love this CD and the entire collection. Not really Tiki music, but a cool set anyway. if you want more Jungle stuff ....try a Martin Denny CD or the Del-Fi title: Jungle Jive.

For much of this album, his 16th in 26 years, Hiatt reunites with his best band, the Goners, and takes a giant leap back to his still-hungry days as a jag-edged, Costello-esque rocker while hewing to the soulful, blues-based songwriting he perfected on 1987's Bring the Family. The withering pub rock of 1979's Slug Line--as well as a nod to fallen hero Dale Earnhardt--seeps into the title track, while the roaring guitar, courtesy of the brilliant Sonny Landreth, and tight rhymes of "All the Lilacs in Ohio" suggest the streetwise edge of 1983's Riding with the King. But it's with ballads such as "Something Broken" and "Come Home to You" that Hiatt's musicianship, songwriting, and deeply soulful vocals truly convince and offer the most moving moments on this, his most memorable album in many years. --Roy Kasten
Customer Reviews:
10 of the all time best.......2007-06-30
John Hiatt is unquestionably one of the best songwriters around. Many have covered his tunes to huge commercial success (Bonnie Raitt, Jeff Healey, Buddy Guy), but none have approched the honest and real delivery that Hiatt is also gifted with. His albums are so consistently good that it is hard to actually pick one that is the best, but Tiki Bar manages to satisfy on all levels.
From the opening track "Everybody Went Low" with it's trademark Hiatt hooks to the surreal closing track "Farther Stars" everything works perfectly. Many of Hiatt's best songs ever are showcased here - "My Old Friend", "Rock of Your Love", "I Know A Place" and the album's masterpiece "All The Lilacs In Ohio". Hiatt cleverly blends blues, bluegrass, folk, and grunge and makes it all work seamlessly. The Tiki Bar Is Open - come on in and open up your mind. Thanks Mr. Hiatt - you are the man!
Typically wonderful Hiatt.......2006-08-11
Most of John's discs jump right out at me as fantastic pieces of work. There have been 2 exceptions- "Little Head" and "The Tiki Bar is Open". My first go round with these two, I thought that maybe John was missing that spark. Nope! I was. The more you listen, the more you appreciate. In my opinion, pretty much everything from 1983's "Riding with the King" til now is phenomenal. Unlike Dylan who ebbs and flows, Hiatt is consistently inspired and inspiring.
My First John Hiatt purchase..........2004-04-19
While waiting on something new from Sonny Landreth and the Goners, I decided to purchase a John Hiatt cd. I chose this one and am not disappointed. Good lyrics, music and musicians.
I love the reflective lyrics of "my old friend" and the lyrics of "all the lilacs in ohio"
I will be purchasing more of Hiatts music. It's just the right combo of blues, folk, rock and roll that I love. Heck, the 70's were my favorite era of music.
"Farther Stars" is kinda a hippy-trippy song that reminded me of the Beatles. (I miss George Harrison.)
And I thought it was their way of paying tribute to one who has offered so much to the music world we know and love today, while not losing individuality.
Bluesy rock n' roll and groovy shuffles from John Hiatt.......2003-08-01
The Goners return to accompany John Hiatt on "The Tiki Bar Is Open", 13 years after they first appeared as Hiatt's backing band on the classic "Slow Turning".
"The Tiki Bar Is Open" is filled with excellent, bluesy rock music which swings and grooves on mid-tempo songs like "Hangin' Round Here", "Rock Of Your Love", "My Old Friend" and the title track, and which rocks and rolls with a vengeance on hard rock numbers like "Everybody Went Low" and "All The Lilacs In Ohio".
A lovely, melodious ballad, "Something Broken", also finds its way onto the album, as does a really great, re-recorded version of 1993's melancholy "I'll Never Get Over You" (which is on some European versions of the album "Perfectly Good Guitar").
Louisiana axe-man Sonny Landreth plays some sizzling slide guitar, and almost everything gels.
Not every tune is equally memorable, sure, but there is plenty of great stuff here, and no need to program anything out (except perhaps the slightly odd "Farther Stars", which sounds like George Harrison being experimental.)
One of Hiatt's better albums for sure...and some 3 3/4 stars.
Holding up the tiki torch for JH.......2003-01-17
If you have never heard of John Hiatt and believe it or not a lot of people still go Who's that then do yourself a favor. John Hiatt is in this mans opinion the finest singer songwriter in the world and this is one great album. Everybody went Low is a rollicking start the chainsaw rocker about his other great love, racing minicars. Hangin round here is a fine song about learning lessons in life "just hangin round here". All the liacs in Ohio is a story weaved around a rock song about a drunken affair ,very well crafted. My old Friend is in my humble opinion the king diamond in this treasure,"My old friend, you make me feel young again. Starts with a blazing harmonica and just keeps going, roots rock at it"s finest, I know a Place is laced with searing blues licks by Sonny Landreth and John's incredible blues vocals and Kenny Blevins drums staccattos.Something Broken is a heart rendering song about a man trying to find solace in himself, but is running out of dead ends. First time I heard it I had tears streaming down my cheeks. A little too close to home. The rock of your Love is a beautiful uplifting song for his wife and the Tiki Bar is Open is a wonderful toe tapping gospel blues tune that has a nice piece for the late Dale Earnhardt. Come home to you is song about his tough childhood and the hardships that he had to endure and the wonderful life he now has with his wife and family. Somebody is going to have a hit song with I'll never get over you, since John never gets the airplay he so rightly deserves and last but not least the 60ish feel of Farther Stars. A true anthem for the 21st Century. the music is extremely well done, The Goners are back and John sounds great and the lyrics are as good as it gets. You have heard the raves, buy the cd you will be thankful you did

The third offering from Space Ghost and company, this disc closely follows the format of Cartoon Planet, the cult-favorite variety show that runs on the Cartoon Network. There are songs galore, though few of them are outright parodies; rather, most take their cues from popular styles and filter them through the goofily surreal sensibilities of Cartoon Planet. The loopy Brak sings about his Hawaiian vacation and raps about Zorak in "Fight the Power Bands" (in which Space Ghost cheerfully chimes in with "Tell it, mack daddy!"), while the lovably gruff Zorak offers a Nirvana homage on "Nasty" ("I call Space Ghost a big baboon / I oughta be spanked, and it oughta be soon"), and apes the Cops theme song on "Bad Bug" ("I'm an evil mantis who won't be kind / I'll shoot my laser at your big behind"). It's not as strong as Space Ghost's Musical Bar-B-Que--there's a little too much filler among this album's 36 tracks. --Randy Silver
Customer Reviews:
I got my copy autographed........2006-11-04
This was the second album of songs and nonsense from the Space Ghost Coast to Coast TV show. If you've ever seen the show, you'll know what to expect. Silly, short songs and skits. If you've never seen the show, you're reaction to this CD will probably be, "What the heck IS this?". But if you are a fan of the show, you'll get a big kick out of it.
Good times.......2005-10-10
Every time I listen to this I flash back to the late 90's when I first bought it and listened to it many mornings driving to my job in Petoskey Mich. It cracked me up many mornings and made the drive to my menial retail job much more bearable. I find Surf and Turf much better than the first album. I never watched Space Ghost but I sure have good memories of this tape. Good stuff. Especially "Metalhead" which is just pure genius!
Listening to this was an ordeal.......2004-09-30
I was subjected to this release on multiple occasions by a co-worker. I found it to be not amusing, clever or entertaining, I found it instead to be a painful annoyance, much like a shreiking baby, fingernails on a chalkboard or dental drills, any of which I would prefer to this.
This is the Muzak in my Hell.
Gotta Love It.......2003-08-28
If you like ridiculous songs about some of the strangest topics around then you NEED this CD. I can't get enough of the Space Ghost CDs. This CD is filled with pure nonsense and humorous ear candy.
Wish there was a DVD to match.......2003-06-25
I really enjoy Space Ghost Coast to Coast, and this CD is a bonus! My kids didn't know what to think about it at first, but now they love it as much as I do. If you are a Space Ghost fan, you MUST buy this CD. Let's just hope Space Ghost comes out officially on DVD! I'll be in line to buy one!

Don Tiki captures exotic sounds, party spirit...this is Martin Denny for the millennium. 13 tracks. Taboo. 1997. `
Customer Reviews:
Not up to par with the old masters.......2006-07-04
I bought this album on the strength of the reviews here and brief samples available for download. I love Exotica music, but once you've got some Denny, Lyman, and Baxter, it's tough to find anything contemporary that comes close. Well, this does come close, but it's just not quite there. There are a couple things in particular that got in the way of my enjoying this album. The first and biggest complaint is the over-reliance on synthesized instruments, which you don't totally get the feel of in the Amazon samples. A bongo drum track and synthesized vibes make me think of a recording studio, not a tropical paradise. Also, some of the vocals sounded a little tinny and grating to me. From now on I'll stick to the work of the past masters. If you are considering buying, I'd recommend going to the Don Tiki website and listening to some of the samples there. They are longer than the Amazon samples and will give you a better feeling for what the music really sounds like.
Voodoo.......2004-09-21
Lots of tropical birds, wild animals and other environmental sounds. I think the natives are getting restless.
good stuff.......2003-08-11
If you like music by Les Baxter and Martin Denny, then you will enjoy this CD also.
the real deal.......2003-02-21
ive been a fan of denny and baxter for years, and thought i would never see the day when a combo would capture the vibe of these archtypes. So i put off buying this record with the fear of being let down, what a mistake!!! this record is brilliant!!!
all the elements are there including the production, and it can be safely said that don tiki is of the caliber of his influences.
if a hammock in the sun or the smell of the sea are your ideas of pleasure, this record will transport you where you want to go.
Pure lounge.......2002-12-18
How i love this album! Listening to it is like sliding into a luscious dream where beautifull people sip martini's by the pool, skies are blue and all worries seem distant. It has this great cinematic feel to it, taking you back to the late
fifties/early sixties. It reminded me allot of the early Bond movies. Apart from the beautifull atmosphere this music airs, it's also brilliantly composed and produced.
My advise: Book your flight to Don Tiki island now!

Good poppy songs - no need to say more.......2007-07-13
This record is well put together and follows in the mid 60's Beatles tradition in that there are interesting sounds which are creatively mixed and solid songs to back that up .
If you want to hear the above , then try tracking down this record .
If you want the originals , try the Beatles !
I happen to like both .
Pop Confection Perfection.......2006-12-23
Of all the Beatle sound-alike artists I have ever heard, these guys take the cake. I could swear that's John Lennon on lead vocals and the melodies to "Vegetable Row", "Homefront Cameo" and "My Before And After" would make McCartney proud. This album plays like the missing link between Rubber Soul and Revolver. The band never really transcends their Beatle influence/obsession which is o.k with me. That's what we have Oasis for.
Maybe biased, but this is an amazing CD.......2005-09-01
OK, I'll admit it.
I'm in Austin, grew up on the Beatles, and saw these guys at Stubb's in town. My opinion is hardly objective. But I am truly blown away that this CD could come from such a unheralded (and local) band.
I won't say it's perfect. In fact, half of the songs don't work for me. But you have a good five, six songs that are truly alternative/pop gems. My Before & After, Homefront Cameo, Password, She's Only Cool, and Church top the list.
It's 2000 indie meets mid-era Beatles, done very well.
actually, 4.5 stars.......2005-08-26
when listening to cottom mather for the first time, sure, you think, 'dood sounds a LOT like john lennon.' well, that's music for you. people have similar voices. deal with it. and for what it's worth, musically speaking, cotton mather and the beatles are on opposite sides of the spectrum.
reference points aside, 'kon tiki' is a brilliant album full of great hooks. alternately sad ('lily dreams on', 'spin my wheels') and exuberant ('my before and after,' 'vegetable row'). in the post-'ok computer' age, it seems people forget the simplicity of the standard vocal/guitar/bass/drum lineup. a band doesn't necessarily need all the filler if the songs are tight, and fortunately cotton mather has more than enough chops to forgo the 'wabbly keyboards.'
with 'lily dreams on' featured in the final episode of veronica mars' first season, hopefully they'll start to get a little more well-deserved recognition.
Kon Tikki is no con job!.......2005-02-15
This is a great CD. Spin my Wheels, Lily Dreams On.
Yes he sounds like the Beatles but it's still great music.
But do yourself a favor and buy it cheaper at a place called half dot com. Around 12 bucks!

Voodoobilly's Finest.......2006-02-18
This cd is fantastic, tied closely with "Voodoo Trucker". There is some phenomenal music going on here! I'm hard pressed to pick favorite tracks but "Voodoobilly Man", "Who the Hell is Mrs. Valdez", "Tiki Man", "Insecto". and "Cockeye" are worth mentioning. This disc belongs in ANY music fan's collection. If this is your first Deadbolt cd, you've made a great choice! Now go buy "Voodoo Trucker" and "I Should Have Killed You". I said NOW!!!
"the cupcakes and juice are scattered about...".......2005-05-27
If Tarantino were to ever make a gruesome horror movie this would be the soundtrack.
Yep, the best of theirs.......2004-08-14
It's true that this is not at all like gospel music. And it's also true that although Tiki Man may in fact be worth it, there are outlet's where you can purchase this disk of fun for less than $99.99, the current going price on Amazon. I suggest braving the swath of hippies and venture into Amoeba Music off Haight Street, hesitating over the aptly named and venerable collection "Haight Street Hippy Massacre" (to be bought later, thankee, dude) and snatching up a scary dose of repellent insecto juice.
So their.
Best they ever did.......2003-08-28
This is the best CD Deadbolt ever did, with "Voodoo Trucker" a close 2nd. If you own only one of their CDs, make it this one. GFY.
I can't sleep at night.......2002-03-20
The rythmic pulse from this music keeps me up sweating booze, I haven't slept in weeks

Album Description
Don Tiki's new collection of exotic and danceable tiki tunes is brimming with haunting melodies and sultry undulating rhythms on 11 hypnotic tracks. Top DJs from around the globe remixed the tracks from their original releases, "The Forbidden Sounds of Don Tiki" and "Skinny Dip with Don Tiki" which included special guest artists Martin Denny, Lopaka Colon, and ukelele wizard, Jake Shimabukuro. The new album features the hit, "The Other Side of the Moon," remixed by Ursula 1000 of NYC as heard on the Samsung Electronic worldwide TV campaign. A review in Time Out/NY states, "Don Tiki have a sexy allure along with flair and a good sense of humor." The Honolulu Advertiser says, "Don Tiki captures exotic sounds, party spirit...this is Martin Denny for the Millenium!" This sensuous, flowing piece of work is an instant classic.
Customer Reviews:
not what i expected.......2005-01-10
Its my own fault really, I didn't listen to the music samples provided. This was suggested by amazon as a "Best Value" added to my purchse of a Pink Martini album. I assumed they would be similar. This album is nothing at all similar to Pink Martini. I wouldn't recommend it as an addition to one of those albums as Amazon is suggesting. its probably a really good album if you like this kind of music, just not my cup o tea.
Exotica for the Now Generation.......2004-08-31
As implied by the title, this is a remix of classic Don Tiki sounds, which pay homage to Martin Denny, Arthur Lyman and all the forefathers of exotica. Even repertory tracks have been mixed, reshaped, refined and re-invented by a coterie of top deejays - call it Martin Denny for the millennium - and the tunes take on new sass. Among the delights: "The Other Side of the Moon" by Ursula 1000 of New York, "An Occasional Man" by Keith Kandell of Los Angeles, "Bwana Banana" by Br Cleve's Bongo Congo Mix of Boston, "Polyamore" by Poi Dog Pondering of Chicago and "All Quiet Flows the Don" by 8FatFat8 of Chicago. There's a mix of sultry, intermittent vocals with inventive instrumentals. This is party music that collates a myriad of styles, from exotic jazz to ska, from funk to pop. Light the tiki torches, turn on the lava lamps, haul out the tiki mask and start groovin!'
Unique but tasty recipe.......2004-07-22
Every couple of years we are treated to a new neo-Exotica treasure from Honolulu's Don Tiki. The new album, Adulterated, is a remix project featuring 11 tunes from their first two albums.
Now I'm sure some of you are thinking this is a recipe for disaster (we are all too aware of failed "lounge" remix projects, right?). In this case, Don Tiki have done it the right way.
For the most part, the remixes stay true to the vibe of the original songs, so things are mellow and relaxing and not hyper and kinetic. Some good tracks in this mode are All Quiet Flows the Don, remixed by 8FatFat8, and Close Your Eyes, remixed by A Certain Frank.
Adulterated features three standout tracks, starting with DJ Jimmy B's remix of The Natives Are Restless. Now, we're big fans of the original song but Jimmy B's remix takes it up a notch. Extremely effective remix effects and nice spoken word pieces highlight this mix, along with chanting to die for. Br Cleve contributes a HiNRG "Bongo Congo" mix of Bwana Banana that somehow fits in even though this has a much higher BPM than the rest of the album. Lastly, Clutch Cargo Cult gets a great remix from 8FatFat8 that includes a nice rap by Julio Davis.
Now, things aren't all Mai Tai's for Adulterated. An Occasional Man has a syncopated remix style that I found annoying (honestly, I'm not a fan of the original version either) with several grating effects.
Overall, though, Adulterated delivers a unique brand of Exotica that could be featured in many discos without much notice. Don Tiki have done it again!
