Prime time in the Sun Lounge.......2002-07-16
Volume five of Real Ibiza proves one of their strongest releases yet, positively Balearic with all the expected sounds: plucked guitar, slo-mo beats, crashing waves, and tinkling keys. So add a dash of piano and exotic balladry (Bluebeat "Dans Le Soleil"), playful harp (Royksopp "In Space"), some xylophone (Yonderboi "Pabadam") or even some nu-bossa in French (Sven Van Hees "Matrass Mambo") or not (Nemo "Darkest Day"). Two sweet songs punctuate the evening, the fantastic relaxed Ibizarre revision of Dubtribe Sound System's positivist poem "Do It Now," and the heartfelt goo of Bliss's "Kissing."
Predictable, yes, and instantly familiar, it's a one-style album sonically engineered for smoothness. And that's just fine. Who wants to mess with skipping tracks when feeling happily horizontal?
