Her voice did not appear to be as strong as in her "Canciones" CD. Also it lacked Mouskouri's vacal creativity. I did like the bouncy "Oh Happy Day" and others but there was something in several songs that her voice did not appear to be strong at all.

I initially bought this CD primarily to hear Nana Mouskouri's version of the classical "Ave Maria." Although my favorite version remains the one sung by Mario Lanza, I found Mouskouri's version quite pleasant and entirely listenable. Other excellent classical selections include Habanera (Bizet), The Humming Chorus (Puccini), Song For Liberty (Verdi), and En Aranjuez Con Mi Amor (Rodrigo).

All of the selections, classical and pop, are thoroughly pleasant and very clear. Both Mouskouri's voice and the instrumental accompaniment are beautiful. One thing that stands out on this CD is her versatility. Whether it's something as traditional and classical as "Ave Maria" or something as hip as the sixties rock gospel song "Oh Happy Day," Nana Mouskouri knows how to make it hers. She sings "Oh Happy Day" with convincing energy and enthusiasm. As for "Quand on s'aime" her duet with the French jazz composer, Michel Legrand, it's an enthusiastically sung jazzy number that really swings and is wonderfully done. Her versions of Simon and Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Trouble Water" and "Scarborough Fair Canticle" are also first rate. No weak selections here. Only beautiful songs that are very well done. Warmly recommended.

This Dusty Springfield collection gives a great overview of the finest moments in Dusty Springfied's long recording career. From the early Sprigfields track "Island of Dreams" till the 1990 track "Reputation". Logically main focus is on her greatest period from middle 60's till early 70's when she scored several top-ten hits all of which are included here.

Among the lesser known tracks are the fine "Dusty in Memphis" outtake "You've Got a Friend" and a rare live recording of "Quiet Please, There's a Lady on Stage".

Her hit with the Pet Shop Boys "What Have I Done to Deserve This" is also included. All in all a great and highly recommendable collection.

The Only Dusty Springfield Album You'll Ever Need.......2006-12-03

This is the compilation to end all compilations! Includes her signature classics, "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me," "Son Of A Preacher Man," "The Look Of Love," and "I Only Want to Be With You." But there's much, much more to Dusty. She put her timeless spin on so many hits of the rock era, one would think the songs were written for her. Just listen to her take on "Anyone Who Had A Heart," "You've Got A Friend," "This Girl's In Love With You," "Close To You," "Goin' Back," "If You Go Away," "You Don't Own Me," "Piece Of My Heart," "Will You Love Me Tomorrow," "Make It With You," and "Oh No, Not My Baby." All were made hits by other artists, but listening to them on this compilation will make you forget the original recordings. There's so much more to this collection than her hits and covers. It spans 4 decades of her career, and closes out with her hits with the Pet Shop Boys, "What Have I Done To Deserve This," and "In Private." Look no further, this is a great greatest hits collection. She is simply sublime.

Not an ideal package but still worthwhile..........2001-04-20

Yasmine Evans burst upon the UK house music scene in the late 80's as a featured vocalist for Coldcut before striking out on her own. All the hits from the glory days are represented here, but that's when the collection begins to go south. Evidently, Yazz didn't want to be classified as just a dance diva, so she ventured into limp UK r&b (think Eternal and the other new jill swing divas from the early 90's) as well as reggae. Unfortunately, her audience didn't follow suit.

My main critcism with this collection is that is doesn't include two singles, "One True Woman" and "Abandon Me." Too many cover versions and album tracks pad out this collection, which is a shame. We also get an updated remix of "The Only Way is Up," which is nice, but again, non-essential.

Yazz - trying to find her way back up!.......2001-02-21

19 tracks but only 7 "hits". This Universal Music compilation has all the late 80's house tracks (Doctorin' the House, The Only Way Is Up, Stand Up For Your Love Rights, Fine Time (excellent)) and then follows Yazz's slightly more hit-free career of the mid-late 90's (Where Has All The Love Gone, Treat Me Good). One notable ommission from this period is "One True Woman". That aside there are plenty of pleasant cover versions (Good Thing Going, Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime) that are certainly not tarnished with Yazz's fresh vocal, alongside a selection of album tracks, new recordings and a new remix of "The Only Way Is Up". All in all not a bad album - shame there weren't more hits really.

This has to be one of the best Gospel CD's of all time. Listening to this CD makes you feel like you're clapping your hands in church. Yolonda is amazing on this CD. A must buy!

I truly love the songs from this c.d. I purchased the tape back in about 1996 and recently purchased the c.d. because I lost my tape. The songs "Hallelujah" and "Holy Spirit" were essential in the beginning of my christian life. They helped me learn to praise and worship God with my all. I believe Yolanda is truly God sent. Many of her songs have been of great help to me. If you like this c.d. you should also try listening to "The Good Shepherd" and "More than just a melody" also sang by Yolanda.

This CD is ALL YOLANDA...Nothing EXTRA....and it only proves that she can S-I-N-G! I love it because it sounds "churchy"... Yolanda with the choir, the organ, the drums.... this is what church USE to sound like!

I remember hearing the song "My Liberty" a few years ago and loving it but not knowing who it was by. I was pleasantly surprised once I purchased the CD and found it to be Yolanda Adams. I liked the CD pretty much, it was okay. What I enjoyed the most was comparing how different her singing style is now. Her voice is much more trained and she puts much more of herself into the music through adlibs, etc. Nevertheless it was an excellent start to her fabulous career. It was easy to hear even back then that she had the voice to be considered a major talent and has definately lived up to the title, she was and is now at her very best.
