Dobie first started making music when he was in college in the 80’s. He earned respect as a producer, remixer and DJ working with the legendary Soul II Soul collective on their first two albums, which spawned worldwide hits,"Keep On Moving", "Back To Life" and "Jazzy’s Groove". He later went on to work on and remix a wide range of groundbreaking artists including Björk, Massive Attack, Tricky, Gangstarr, Howie B, Roots Manuva and more!

Dobie was signed to Pussyfoot Records, where he released numerous singles and EP’s such as the much sought after The Dobie E.P. which features the classic "B-Boy Anthem". He later went on to release his debut album The Sound of One Hand Clapping, to much critical acclaim and rave reviews. This album, due to limited distribution, never reached its stateside potential and is being re-released through Dobie’s own BBE imprint, Magnificent 7.
