Product Description
codec- amalagamation com-102
Component Records proudly anounces its second release- amalgamation by codec and a host of brilliant remixers. The concept is simple, have a batch of artists take the tracks off of codecs fragments(com-101) and allow them to remix, reprocess and reinterpret the source material. Participants this genre defying experiment include Solenoid, Proem, Ocone, Adrien75, Xyn, Gasr, Tripform, Arvidium, AEC, Thug, LogiQ, Octopus Inc. and Zammuto. The mixes range from the splinterend IDM beats of Proem and Ocone, to the post-junglisms of Xyn, Zammuto and Tripform, all the way to the ebm-dance of AEC. The mixers have been able to capture the essence of the original codec tracks and meld it with their own unique musical visions.

Album Description
This album is a re-release of Incendio's debut recording "Misterioso". The music of Incendio is not solely flamenco, classical, Middle-Eastern, Celtic, jazz, rock, trance or pop, but an amalgamation of all of the above. By showcasing the timeless sound of the Spanish guitar in a variety of settings, Incendio takes the listener on a global musical experience while continuing to break new ground.
Customer Reviews:
Amazing debut!.......2006-01-11
This band is amazing. Although some may lump these guys in with other "nuevo flamenco" artists, the astute listener will notice that this band is much more progessive than their counterparts. They use more complex harmonic structures in many of their compositions and they experiment with other music forms like Celtic, middle-eastern, and even trance.

In the early '90s Peter Mulvey was as a Boston subway busker, selling a pair of self-made CDs and making change out of his guitar case. But after garnering top honors in the 1994 Boston Acoustic Underground competition, his career rose above ground. An accomplished yet complex guitarist, and a dark, descriptive songwriter, Mulvey delivers it all with a charred, playful voice and in a variety of tempos and instrumentation (including a trademarked Tom Waits on "Bright Idea"). Jennifer Kimball and Chris Smither add vocal accompaniment along the way. The album's high points, however, remain the sparsely arranged numbers, such as the mandolin-accented "You Meet the Nicest People in Your Dreams," the Dylan-like "Wings of a Ragman," and the solo acoustic closer, "Home." --Scott Holter
Customer Reviews:
Haunting voice, amazing guitar playing . . . and mystery.......2002-01-25
Almost two years ago I saw Peter Mulvey perform at an outdoor music festival and immediately bought this album. Never have I seen a contemporary singer-songwriter whose music was so rich, so full of original ideas and images, so devoid of cliches, and so full of mystery. Even after almost two years of listening, I never get tired of the songs because they still make me think and wonder. "Wings of the Ragman" is my favorite -- a dead man reaching out to implore the living to see what's around them. "Every Word Except Goodbye" is a most unusual will, an accounting of what should be given to whom. I love the lyrics, "Give my arms to your waist," and "Keep for yourself the thought of my favorite sin." Why, oh why is someone this talented -- as songwriter, singer and guitarist -- not more famous? Why are his songs not played on the radio? This is the kind of music I want to hear when I turn on the radio!
This music is magic ..........2001-05-03
Peter Mulvey records only great CDs, and The Trouble with Poets is another winner. It starts with songwriting that is masterful, astonishingly wise and mature for a man just 30 years old, who only recently added musician/producer David "Goody" Goodrich to the songwriting mix. Though Mulvey's writing is often labeled dark, these songs vary in tempo, in instrumentation, and in mood. There is hope here, and compassion, in songs like Tender Blindspot, Wings of the Ragman, and Home. One also finds pain, introspection, paranoia, and flights of fancy (hey hey hey): just another walk in the park of these creative minds. The execution is equally fine. Mulvey's guitar playing is legendary, and Goodrich sprinkles effective instrumentals all over the album -- in addition to producing it with flare and skill. The result is the delicate acoustic Home, the special effects on Bright Idea, the flowing musicality of Ragman, and a delightful mandolin feature on the only cover on the CD, You Meet the Nicest People in Your Dreams. Guest vocalists make valuable contributions as well, but holding it all together is Mulvey's rich, soft, and very expressive voice. This is a hard-working musician with enormous talent. Buy the CD; discover a new obsession.
A voice to guide your dreams and rescue you from nightmares.......2000-11-17
Peter's latest outing is definitely among my favorites of the recordings he has released to date. "The Trouble With Poets" definitely represents his most mature work so far. His songwriting ability is unparalleled -- with his words, he echoes thoughts and feelings that everyone has but can never give voice to, from the whimsical to the fearful. Listen, and you will find something in his songs that will make you feel like someone understands, no matter what your mood is or where you're coming from. Particularly excellent tracks are "Words To Small To Say," "Tender Blindspot," and, of course, the title track, wherein he gives the poet in all of us pause. You'll never get tired of this one...
Mulvey Minded.......2000-11-16
I have only seen Peter Mulvey in concert twice but it was incredible. He performed many of these songs live and I can only say the energy in the live show was so intense that the album could not reach 5 stars after seeing him really put his heart into it. Of all of Peter Mulvey's albums I would say this one is my second favorite, next to the first one I ever listened to which was Rapture. I do however, recommend that you purchase ALL of his albums because Peter Mulvey is the best.
Brilliant..........2000-10-02
Peter Mulvey is truly one of the best songwriters out there today. His songs reach a level of musical brilliance that I have not heard since Leo Kottke; aside from musical beauty, he also conveys intelligence, social concern and awareness, personal depth and an uplifting amount of lightheartedness through a combination of poetry and prose.

Album Description
Legendary producer, composer and musician Bill Laswell's newest contribution to the Innerhythmic collection continues a gradual submersion into numerous experimental styles including drum-n-bass, mutant hip-hop, avant jazz, electronic dub and ambient vapor-drift...Trumpeters Toshinori Kondo and Graham Haynes deliver textural ambience and cyberjazz modulations over a wide expanse of driving dub pulses that have been generated electronically as well as acoustically - live drums are provided by Indian-born percussionist and producer Karsh Kale. Two pieces here are in collaboration with the ever-progressive Anti-Pop Consortium (comprised of Beans, Priest and M. Sayyid), whose signature rapid-fire rhymes create engaging, esoteric mind bombs that detonate the boundaries of hip-hop all over again. Augmented by the piano and electronic keyboards of veteran jazz and classical music composer Karl Berger, with hidden ambient traces decoded by guitar futurist Buckethead, ! Points of Order brings about, in a stream of sonic matter, the collapse of all distinction between music and sound - offering another glimpse off-world...another step toward the disintegration of styles and musical borders.
Customer Reviews:
An experimental excursion into darker depths of jungle-dub>>.......2003-02-25
I'll be the first to admit I bought this album because I'm a sick Antipop Consortium fanatic, and when they first disbanded I blindly grabbed up anything I could find that might include any unreleased, non-album Consortium material (i.e. Infesticons/ Constant Elevation/ Isolationists/ various 12"). I mean, I own a few Bill Laswell projects that are classics for sure (w/Jah Wobble,w/Atom Heart, and his Miles Davis rmxs), but I don't know him well enough to suggest this album for true Laswell fans. There are a couple of tracks w/Buckethead that I CAN say Laswell/Bucket fans would both enjoy, and most of the tracks are very jungle-dub/ambient oriented; spacey keys, quick snares, low rolling baslines, revrbed trumpets, you know the science.
The Antipop MCs (Beans,Priest,Saayid) do appear on two tracks, one verse to each MC on each track. For me the 2 trks were worth the used price, but didn't make the entire album worth it's full price overall. There may be some Laswell fans that despise this release for the opposite reason, because he chose to collaborate with poets, when his excursions have been mostly instrumental, and, for the most part, well--ambient.
So, all in all, to convey this review's indirect, twisted message: If you're a big Antipop fan, and are willing to experiment with some jazzy-jungle-dub-breaks, or if you're a chillin Dubster who's willing to take a chance on some abstact-impressionist mic-controllers this is a release you may want to 'experiment' with..
It strongly reminds me Ki-Oku (DJ Krush and Toshinori Kondo).......2002-06-29
Well if you follow all my reviews, you'll see that I am no music expert. Usually I listen to the music while programming. Actually this is what I am supposed to do right now. Only its only hours since I bought the CD, and this is my first time listening. It strongly reminds me Ki-Oku (DJ Krush and Toshinori Kondo). Maybe its because Toshinori Kondo is in this record too. I simply find Points of Order better than Ki-Oku.

One of the most chillest CD's you can buy. An excellent artist album by The Amalgamation Of Soundz released in 1997 on Filter/Dorado records but is now discontinued. Very hard to find, even harder to find at a decent price. Try gemm.com. Also pick up "Part 2" which is the followup to this released in Dec of 1997 just a few months after this CD. Pick this up if you like break beats and jazz elements fused together (heh, fusion :P).

Very chilled but not too much........2000-09-15
This album was a nice change. The wide variety makes it easy to listen to. Track 5 is why I bought this CD. Definitely worth the purchase. Track 1 is also good. It has a nice lounge feel to it but still has enough energy to keep your attention. If you want to add something different to your collection this is a great purchase.
The Amalgamation Of Soundz: Part II.......2000-06-24
This is basically a really great album. It is truly an amalgomation of various sounds. It combines the funkiness of Jazz with the hipness of trip-hop and adds a dash of groovy beats via electronica melodies. If you like acid-jazz and trip hop this CD will elevate your expectations to new heights and introduce a new form of jazz-triphop-oriented sound to you inventory of sounds. Moreover, this is played on in truly "Chic", trendy and hip stations and clubs. This is a "Hip" it! You won't be disapointed.

Album Description
The North American release and most recent offering from the technological geniuses and the American based duo known as cut.rate.box. dataseed is a personal reflection of one's own place within the new global culture. Frequently woven into dataseed is g.'s own personal views and struggles with maintaining awareness of a reality in which all that we are told is true and good is determined by who can pay the most for our attention (and beliefs). Musically this release can be described as an amalgamation of powerful beats, mind warping programming and intellectually driven lyrics. dataseed is a brilliant record from start to finish.
This release also features a guest appearance from Victoria Lloyd (Claire Voyant and HMB) on the track "Enigma" and the North American version features new artwork that was conceived and designed by the members of cut.rate.box. Also this version features all new mixes from Stromkern and DJ Tony Estrada as well and an alternate version of "thinice" called "thinair" and the Assemblage23 remix of "Zionsank". This is truly a progression to another dimension.

i first heard the song leave this world by them from my step-sister, and right then i decided i wanted the CD. This band is great, i have all of their cd's now each one is good, and i like every song on each CD(which is uncommon). Also bought 2 shirts off of cutratebox.com visit there good stuff.!
Excellent new industrial.......2003-04-17
The lyrics are excellent. The singing is not too guttural, but not too sappy. The programming is incredible, with original, goosebump-inducing melodies and fast, but not repetitive, beats. Better than ... 23, Funker Vogt, Wumpscut, and the like. It's different enough from the standard techno-industrial "EBM" fare to make one hesitate in classifying it as such, yet very similar.
Not Your Average Synth PROP.......2003-01-09
Finally a fresh voice out of the Americas. Cut.Rate.Box
manage to emerge from the delapedated seas of synth pop
with an irrefutably deluxe release (extra tracks remixed by
that of Assemblage 23/Stromkern!) The music is tight and
the lyrics are fresh and slightly reminiscent of ohgr. I
recommend this cd to any electro fan. I hate comparisons so
I won't compare this disc to any other. It stands alone.
Check them out on tour!...

Album Description
Long awaited follow-up to the best-selling, critically acclaimed Jasun Martz symphony The Pillory.
The Pillory/The Battle is an experimental, eclectic, contemporary classical, progressive, industrial, ambient collectors edition 2 CD set
Millions have heard the work of New York based producer, musician and composer JASUN MARTZ. He has recorded with MICHAEL JACKSON (his keyboard virtuosity on 'Black or White' appears on five of Jackson's multi-gold & platinumCDs); toured with FRANK ZAPPA and helped arrange STARSHIP'S #1 hit 'We Built This City on Rock and Roll' with Grammy winning producer BILL BOTTRELL (Sheryl Crow, Shelby Lynn). Martz is also a contemporary artist and is renowned for his raw expressionist paintings and papier-mch sculptures of subway passengers painted in New York, Los Angeles, Paris and London. His artwork and sculpture can be seen at JasunMartz.com
The Intercontinental Philharmonic Orchestra and Royal Intercontinental Choir is an international consortium of avant-garde, contemporary classical, rock, industrial, experimental and non-musicians with the common goal of "making a lot of racket." Assembled and led by Jasun Martz, the 115 members of the orchestra recorded their parts for The Pillory/The Battle on virtually every continentÐ in cities in every corner of the globe. Utilizing the highest quality 24-bit digital technology, Martz then imported, manipulated and mixed literally thousands of digital files to create the final work of music. The original cover art is a detail of a drawing created especially for The Pillory releases by French modern master JEAN DUBUFFET
Customer Reviews:
Jasun continues his wonderful mix of rock/avante guard/ prog explorations........2006-07-27
As the others have stated before me, this is quite amazing. It is also quite eclectic, yet molded into a fabulous cohesive work of art. Huge in nature, yet very personal.
The rock sections are perfectly fused into the overall modern classical nature of the music. Jasun seems so comfortable within all of the realms, and proves that inspiration can be perfectly mated with intelligence and education.
Congrats to Jasun and keeping my fingers crossed for the third in the series of The Pillory!
PS - and for something completely different - try Jasun's amazing work of art from his group The Sin Circle - Everyone's An Idiot - modern pop/alternative, but again, a real musician sharing his exploration and talents.
The Universe Symphony of Everything! .......2006-01-20
Shortly after the advent of magnetic recording tape, and, later, the invention of the voltage-controlled synthesizer, there was much made of the "endless possibilities" of those mediums. One could now use the actual sounds, both of instruments and voices as well as "noises", to mold and create one's music. In the case of the electronic synthesizer, it was believed that it could replicate virtually any audible sound and enable it to be used in a musical way hitherto impossible. So what happened to all those "endless possiblilites"? One has to search far and wide to uncover any music that actually fulfills that promise. Much of the musique concrete or electronic music created in that heady time ('50's-'60's) certainly seems to have fallen far short of the dream, except for certain works by Stockhausen, Xenakis, Subotnick and a (very few) others. The reason for this is as simple as it is devastating; as composer Mel Powell put it, the creation of electronic or concrete music "allows camoflage about as generously as does, say, writing madrigals for unaccompanied voices." Not only that, but it also requires a tremendous amount of hard work! The composer and artist Jasun Martz knows this quite well. The amount of work to create, mold, shape, and produce "The Pillory" and "The Pillory/The Battle" was staggering, but he knew well that to accomplish the sublime one must commit to the hard work and devotion necessary to bring the vision into reality. Martz contacted musicians all over the globe, sent them sheet music and instructions, then imported, assembled, arranged, and produced the music, as well as perfoming many parts of his own. The result is a rare and sublimely beautiful cycle of compositions which seem to embrace the whole universe of music and sound. But unlike composers whose reach exceeds their grasp, Martz has kept this all within HUMAN time and perceptual boundaries, so as to be fully comprehended and enjoyed. He did not want the listener to be as staggered by the listening process as he nearly was in creating it. The wealth of music, sound, and overall conception never seems like an "embarassment of riches". The pacing and progression of the individual movements as well as the outlines within the movements are clearly drawn, logical but humanistic. These "Battles" are fought with strategy and forsight...never devolving into insipid ambience on the one hand, or mindless chaos on the other. Martz holds the progression and development of the music firmly within his grasp, but allowing freedom and chance to operate appropriately when needed to balance the stricter elements. The richness of texture and invention invite continued repeated listenings, as there always seems to be just a bit more embedded in the music than a given audition would reveal.
The packaging of this 2-CD set is also superb (Martz is a visual artist as well as a composer and musican), and the price is a bargain to boot.
Now, scroll back up and ORDER it, and hear for yourself!
a great result for a great work, 25 years .......2005-03-06
25 years is the top age for human race ! for this CD it's the same, 25 years after the 1st opus ! This is a real great and hard work with plenty different sources and influences A combination of quiet and loud times in alternation A great pleasure to ear it for the mind, for the body and for enlarge his own culture
LIKE NOTHING ELSE YOU HAVE (OR WILL) EVER HEAR!.......2005-03-03
I have never, ever EVER heard any music and sounds like this before. The music literally grabs a hold of you and will not let go... I am mesmerized by this music!!!
The sounds and noises are brutal and rumbling and amazing... the contemporary classical sections (for a huge, full symphony orchestra) remind me of Stravinsky's Le Sacre du Printemps but MUCH wilder and intense... I think it is impossible to fully describe all that goes on in this music other than it is so, SO stunning and even if you hate it you will know you just experienced something very, VERY important.
