I was just on the Mike Watt website and discovered that Ed Crawford --previously lead vocalist for Watt's post-Minutemen band, Firehose - AKA ed fROMOHIO-- had formed a band called Grand National at some point in the years after fIREHOSE broke up. I'm a big fan of both Minutemen and fIREHOSE, and although I haven't heard any of Grand National's music, I expect it to be good 'cuz of the high regard I have for Ed Crawford's talents; so, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and give him the highly unusual score of 4 stars in blind faith that he's making at least above avg. music. I will purchase one of his records to find out if the score I gave him was warranted.

Simply... One of the best singles I've heard in a very, very long time. This band is just amazing in its melodies and catchy vocals, and you can't help but make a fool of yourself singing in the car to it. Three great tracks and a video makes this a great buy. Why isn't this band huge right now? I'm baffled, but then again, if it wasn't for Sasha's "Involver" album, I may not know them either. Check out Grand National because they are indeed grand, and for those that just have the album, get this single. You don't want to miss out on it.
