Real Deal Smokin'.......2003-11-17

I first heard this album shortly after it was released in the early 70's. It was a hot item on a local FM radio station out of New York City at the time. The music was recorded live in a club in Connecticut. I only wish I could have been in the club to experience the dynamics James and his band played with for this recording.
This is a "MUST HAVE" recording for any James Cotton fan as well as blues harp players.

Smoking.......2003-09-03

I went to see a band named ZZtop in 1975. They introduced the opening act, The James Cotton Blues Band and I've never been the same. Where this guy gets his wind from will never be known. This album rocks your sorry [butt]!!! You better find it somewhere and discover the blues....Tim

JAMES COTTON: BLUES HARP MASTER.......2001-11-17

His voice is not what it used to be but back in the late 60's and 70's the James Cotton Band was the hottest BLUES band period. With Matt Murphy on guitar, James ripped the roof off so many places they started calling him "MR.SUPERHARP". When I ask Kim Wilson of the Fab Tbirds about James, Kim says his singing and playing speaks for itself. I consider this the absolute best of James's many Live recordings. It was released in 1976. (...) In my Top 5 Alltime Blues CDs. I listen to this between 7 and 10 on the volume control depending on my mood. (...)

A missing song.......2003-07-22

These are my two favorite Barry Goldberg albums - however, the last song on "Reunion," titled The Answer's in Your Head, was left off. You should get the two albums seperately so you have the complete song list from the albums. That is the only reason I did not give this CD 5 stars.

whenever you could find the session with barry goldberg,harvey mandel, charlie musselwhite and others - you will find out the best music on the world. A realy blues from the heart and for the heart. Simply the truth (as said mr. John Lee Hooker)
