At the end of 1999, Underworld returned from their international Beaucoup Fish tour utterly exhausted. They had spent almost two years on the road, and that was enough for deck wizard Darren Emerson, who picked up his record box, jetted off to Uruguay, claimed his mantle as a globe-trotting international DJ, and turned his back on Underworld forever. Rick Smith, however, reacted to the experience of coming off the tour in a very different way. Locking himself in the studio for eight months, he watched and listened to tape after tape of the Underworld live experience, examining it, dissecting it, evaluating it. The result is Everything, Everything, a 75-minute compilation of the band's greatest onstage moments, from a rampant, super-fast "Shudder/King of Snake" to a breathtaking closing hybrid of techno milestones on "Rez/Cowgirl"--and not forgetting, of course, a frenetic thunder through the band's ultimate crowd-pleaser, the heavenly prototrance anthem "Born Slippy." To the Underworld disciple, this offering will surely come as manna from heaven. --Louis Pattison
Customer Reviews:
Decent techno.......2007-02-24
I tend to like up beat bubbly techno to dance to. This had some good stuff, but I should've paid attention to the fact it was live. Oops.
Wow! Pure Energy. I feel like I am there! .......2006-10-22
Underworld sneak up on you with their epic morphing and hypnotic long pieces. And this album is pure adrenaline. I have seen these guys live and this is like being there again. I have only one other live CD that comes close (The Cult)to capturing the live vibe and energy so well. This is one of my faves, and because of the great choice of tracks its also my fave Underworld CD. These guys are awesome and this CD is testimony to how insanely awesome they are!
Everything,Everything and a whole lot more!.......2005-08-11
I've never seen Underworld live before and with this cd, I dont think I need to. 'Juanita',Kiteless' and 'Cups' kick things off nicely getting the crowd ready of what's to come. Their version of 'Pearl's Girl' sends shivers down my spine and I love the 'aaahhh' bits on the trancey chords really get me into a state of ecstacy. Amazing breakdown. 'Jumbo' is simply breath taking."Click"! 'Born slippy' live is mesmerising with a nice twist of analogue-esque twiddling mania. And 'Rez/Cowgirl ends things off superbly, getting the crowd to interact and sing along the riff at the end. Class. For anyone reading this review would you please let me know where I can find the 'Micronauts' remix of 'Bruce Lee'. thanks.
No other Underworld album comes close!.......2004-12-28
A great tribute to one of the best live acts to emerge from the early nineties dance scene. Many of the tracks are definite improvements on the original versions and the upbeat euphoria of the Underworld live experience really comes across. If I had to recommend one Underworld album it would definitely be this one.
The track listing covers most of their best stuff. "Pearl's Girl" with it's "crazy crazy" chant steams along gloriously. The more mellow "Jumbo" with oceanic keyboards and rippling sequencer is excellent. The classic rave anthem "Born Slippy" is inevitably included towards the end and has never sounded better than here. The set builds to a mind-blowing stonking romp of "Rez/Cowgirl" that blows your head off!
Trance-techno dance music at it's very best. You simply can not listen to this without at least wanting to shake your body a bit!
Buy the DVD!!.......2004-10-06
This is a great album. But to really feel and experience what's on here you have to buy the DVD. It's simply incredible. The tracks can be viewed in their truest and most rightful sense. Frankly, the DVD will blow your mind.

Keeping the metal torch lit.......2002-07-03
Anyone who is a fan of Overkill knows that they're at their best live. Anyone who's not yet a fan needs to know that this is the ONLY place to get real metal anymore. Metallica has completely sold out, Megadeth and Slayer lost their focus. Only Overkill continues the tradition. Still, they're not repeating the same things for the past 20 years. They are defining the metal "state of the art".
Over the years the band has kept consistent quality in song writing -- not quite any masterpieces like "Master of Puppets", but not junk like "Reload" either. While their guitarists have come and gone, and the style of the guitars have followed (I preferred the 2-guitar lineup), Blitz has maintained his growling vocals. DD Verni has improved his bass immensely over the years.
Overkill's unaparalleled stage presence is half the reason that this record is so good. Newer songs that hadn't been recorded live give us a new appreciation. The other half is the evolution of their style and DD's skill. Hearing old classics like "In Union We Stand" and "Overkill", and even "The Years of Decay" played in today's context is a treat.
Evil Never Dies.......2002-06-18
Usually I would complain about 'Another Live Album' but I've been a fan 'Killfan for years and I will take em anyway I can. And besides all of that, this album features songs that were not included on the previous live albums. In fact, if I'm not mistaken ... none of these songs were on the others. In a few months the full length show is going to be released on DVD. I can't wait to snag up that one as well. So, do yourself a favor.. pick this one up. You will not be dissapointed.

GET OUT OF A BAD MOOD!!!!!!!.......2006-01-17
THIS CD PUTS A SMILE ON MY FACE EVERYTIME I HEAR IT! JUDY KAYE IS A MOST UNDERUTILIZED TALENT ON THE BROADWAY SCENE, AND THIS CD PROVES IT. CLICK THIS RECORDING INTO YOUR CART THIS INSTANT!
Pure Energy.......2000-09-17
What an incredible recording! What energy, what a fantastic voice! The songs, many of which are rarely recorded, are presented in a wonderful upbeat and stylish mood. It's almost impossible not to love this CD. Her tributes to the greats of the silver screen are very witty and yet not overly campy. Judy manages to almost one up Carmen Miranda, with her Carmen Tribute. I must say I never really liked the song "Thanks alot, but no thanks" until I heard Judy's version. This CD will leave you exhausted but with lots of happy memories. It will also leave you wishing that Judy Kaye recorded more often!!

Customer Reviews:
Downtempo DC band an engaging, ego-fee, acoustic adventure.......2003-07-11
Aubergine 3's music embraces the world in a way that embodies Washington, D.C.,: international, polyglot, subdued, informed. Aubergine 3 play downtempo funky techno-influenced jazz. The music is both steely and soft-toned. It is intelligent enough to play while sitting alone, but ego-free enough to put on at a party for a mellow vibe. Because both the left and right side of the brain are stimulated, it is music you can take anywhere.
Live, Aubergine 3 conjure the music of Downtempo Disco Dons like Thievery Corporation, Jazzanova and Truby Trio. But, like other instrumentalist downtempo bands such as Fila Brazillia and Red Snapper, the canned-quality of DJ spinning is promoted to fresh organic-grade juiciness.
And I expect that this group of musicians - John Henry Dale on electro-organic drum kits, Chauncey Canfield on all manner of organs and synths and Dajando Smith thudding out baseline hieroglyphs - to become even better in the years to come.
The album isn't perfect by any stretch. The snare drums sound ragged, the synths wander onto the precipice of muzac from time to time, the bass plodding at times and the vocals are a little too close to ground covered by Thievery and countless others. But these are minor nicks in an otherwise streamlined cruiser.
The songs are:
Sultro-Matic Principle -- At first, a bass line. The a rain-drop synth loop and the drums kick in soft. The musicians introduce themselves and Rachel Leber voice slides in on an ethereal cloud of synth cushioning. The album starts slow, gliding.
Tres Bolivares - The album's best track - featuring a sitar and flute duel over a driving middle-easterneseque groove that ebbs and flows.
Panderthal Redux - A basic downtempo tune - good but not remarkable in any way.
World 6 - A happy melody with an AIRy sci-fi vibe, nice use of percussion.
Jinn - Find a better bass line for this song - it's good in principle, but a little too simple for my taste
As Wide As the World - This song has a real bossanova feel, similar to how Thievery Corp. was influenced by Stan Getz/Charlie Byrd.
Spank le Disco - Ah yes, French shopping music a la daft punk complete with French lyrics and French fromageyness. Not exactly my tasse du the, but the bassist does funk it up royal.
Lando's Lament - I can just see it, Billy Dee chilling' up in his cloud fortress with a forty oz. On this track Aubergine 3 dare to pimp strut.
Cloud Forest - It washes in on an avalanche of synth and then the drums and bass come in - locked together. A really tight number.
Don Pisco - A funky little ditty.
Vapour - At first its close to muzac - I think you can hear this kind of stuff on smooth-jazz radio, but then it mutates a bit as it goes along - with some nice production effects - but this could basically find itself on a 1980's George Benson album
The Pickup - The album's coda, and suggestion. The name says it all - music for persons to get-down to - awesome bass work on this track.
Versatile, intelligent, and a necessary look see and listen!.......2003-06-24
I really enjoyed this cd and its wide range of moods! When I listen to music I seek inspiration and visualizations. I don't know a lot of musical terminology that is current and up to date with what's "in" these days, but this cd took me many different places physically and spiritually. I love all kinds of music-particulary "old school" and rock and roll. This has something new and some real soul to it-good to dance to or just relax to. Great musicians-or mixologists whatever they call it nowadays.
An amazing CD from DC!.......2003-05-02
You can't keep still listening to this CD -- it is finger tappin' head bobbin' hip swingin' funky! I don't know a thing about electronic jazz genres, but I know this group can groove like nobody's business! Aubergine's music is warm and liquidy, breezy and soulful, exotic and easy - all at once. I look forward to many more releases from this very talented group.
In All Things Modulation.......2003-04-12
If you have ever felt like the overly sequenced and mechanized sound that defines so much electronica is a little too cold for your senses and the incessant noodling and "improvisation" of so much jazz and jam music mines the depths of your patience, then check out this release. In a way I have yet to see with other artists, this album combines the best of both of these wide-ranging musical genres. It's sonically rough around the edges at points, creamy smooth at others. It is a great dance party album, but you could also just sit down, jazz cigarette in hand, and chill reflectively in headphone land.
If this is their first offering, I'd say we have much to look forward to from this welcome addition to DC's electronic music community.

Suicide took mid-70's NYC underground attitudes to extreme, but logical, ends. Singer Alan Vega's often terrifyingly apocalyptic vision was perfectly complimented by keyboardist Martin Rev's pulsating, sizzling accompaniment on rhythm box and synthesizer. Their psychotic electronic blues was the sound of American culture sliding towards destruction. On stage, they were routinely heckled by audiences unappreciative of their minimalist explorations (they actually incited riots while on tour in Europe opening for Elvis Costello). Ghost Riders is a CD version of a former tape-only live performance from 1981 commemorating the band's 10th anniversary. The recording is surprisingly good and the performance is excellent.--Mike Corrigan
Album Description
From the All Music Guide:
Originally a cassette-only release, this live recording at Walker Arts Center in Minneapolis marked Rev and Vega's 10th anniversary. And while not as deliberately offensive as some of their earlier live gigs, this is a compelling, interesting document of their ever-evolving stage show. Not as transcendent as their debut album, but well worth the effort. Reissued on CD by the French Danceteria label in 1990. John Dougan
Customer Reviews:
Suicide: Ghost Riders/Half Alive.......1998-06-12
Once the Suicide sound has entered your mind, you'll never forget it. Hypnotic, uplifting, revolutionary. The American Kraftwerk. The only band that can remind you of Alan Ginsberg, the Velvets, Daft Punk, James Brown, ? and the Mysterians and the Last Poets all at once. Elvis talking in his sleep. The simple mantra of the X-pel-air fan overlaid with the rant of the corner preacher who has seen the truth. Once you've tried it, you'll need it all, but, covering their entire early career, this compilation provides the perfect initiation. Suicide, the last sound you'll ever hear . .
Don't think twice.
