This Robert Rodriguez-written-and-directed half of Grindhouse, his and Quentin Tarantino's $50+ million valentine to '70s exploitation fare, turns on the typically over-the-top tale of a go-go dancer (Rose McGowan) whose severed leg is replaced by an assault weapon-cum-prosthetic. But unlike the typically frenzied stew of pop gems, vintage soundtrack obscurities, and dizzy oddities Tarantino uses to score his Death Proof half of the project, Rodriguez continues his John Carpenter-inspired habit of writing and performing the music for his. Anchored by a snarling, guitar-driven instrumental title theme that sounds like it was piped in straight from a strip club in Hades, the director's score is a gritty, frequently metal-driven sonic m#233;lange. Previous musical cohort Graeme Revell again collaborates on a handful of tracks (with additional contributions from Carl Thiel, George Oldziey, and Rick Del Castillo), and there are moments that instantly recall their dank work on Sin City, particularly the throbbing sax-uality of "Grindhouse Blues." Star McGowan contributes a trio of languorously wasted vocal turns on a cover of "You Belong to Me" and the alternately electro-clubby/flamencoesque Rodriguez originals "Useless Talent #42" and "Two Against the World." Completing the score's evocative musical recipe, Nouvelle Vague offer up a breathy, tongue-in-cheek cover of the Dead Kennedys' "Too Drunk to Fuck" while Chingon turns in a searing, Latin-metal fusion take of Rodriguez's own "Cherry's Dance of Death." --Jerry McCulley

Album Description

"Grind House" - noun - A downtown movie theater -- in disrepair since its glory days as a movie palace of the '30s and '40s -- known for "grinding out" non-stop double-bill programs of B-movies. From groundbreaking directors Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez comes the ultimate film experience: a double-bill of thrillers that will recall both filmmakers' favorite exploitation films. GRIND HOUSE will be presented as one full-length feature comprised of two individual films helmed separately by each director. Tarantino's film, Death Proof, is a rip-roaring slasher flick where the killer pursues his victims with a car rather than a knife, while Rodriguez's film explores an alien world eerily familiar to ours in Planet Terror. Welcome to the grind house -- it'll tear you in two.

The riveting score for GRIND HOUSE is by Rodriguez himself.

2 out of 5 stars Not A "Tarantino" Soundtrac.......2007-05-15

Robert Rodriguez makes really good movies and he definitely is a good "guitar" player. But, these recent soundtracks are not what we got with "Desperado" or "From Dusk to Dawn". I mean this soundtrack is just that, "soundtrack sounds and riffs" from the movie. They work good in the movie, but your not going to want to listen to them on their own. Totally unlike a "Tarantino" soundtrack that has actual "songs" on it by artists that you will want to listen to separate of the movie. I'm a "guitar player" and although I respect Robert Rodriguez as a guitar player, I'll probably never buy one of his "soundtracks" again. What's the point, just watch the movie.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome movie... awesome soundtrack!.......2007-04-27

Anyone who went to see Grindhouse and is now looking at the soundtrack for Planet Terror, I know exactly why you're either thinking of or already have purchased it. It's because of the main title theme. Quite possibly one of the coolest movie themes ever composed.

I'll spare you a detailed report of the CD. It's awesome. Possibly one of the best movie soundtracks ever composed, beats out the Sin City soundtrack... something I previously didn't think was possible. A must have for any music fans!

4 out of 5 stars Some Great Hard Jams And A Cool Throwback To An Era.......2007-04-14

The joint film venture by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino, "Grindhouse," is a throwback to the cult classic grindhouse movies of the 70s and 80s, it is only fitting that the musical score does the same. But like the movie itself, the music is both an update and a throwback. For "Planet Terror" Robert Rodriguez, the one-man film production crew, again takes composing duties upon himself as he did in "Sin City." Along with some guest work by Graeme Revell and the band Chingon, Rodriguez captures both tne synth feel of the 80s horror film scores and produces some hard rockin' jams that stand on their own. "Grindhouse (Main Titles)" is a scorching opening with a raunchy sax and ripping, flamenco Arabic guitar that sets the tone for "Planet Terror," this is like stripper music from hell and indeed, Rodriguez's on set love interest, Rose McGowan, does a great go-go dance number to this song in the opening titles of the film. Other tracks like "Hospital Epidemic" and "His Prescription" capture that synthesized feel of the old horror movies with a fan boy's glee. "Useless Talent #32" and "You Belong To Me" feature McGowan singing. She has a wonderfully sexy, deep voice with a jazzy feel. She also croons on "Two Against The World." What Rodriguez shows here is a real sense of good film scoring, much of this material can sometimes even feel a little too elevated for a grindhouse flick. Rodriguez in the past has provided great music for "Kill Bill Vol. 2" and his own "Once Upon A Time In Mexico," both featured great songs and again, a kind of musical emotion sometimes too grand or too well-assembled for what Rodriguez's films deserve. It's almost as if the man is a popcorn filmmaker with the soul of a true musician inside. His guitar playing in "Planet Terror" is awesome with notes that glide, slide and rip hard. Fans will not be disappointed, the soundtrack is campy, fun, exciting and expertly produced and played. "Planet Terror" delivers more than what you would expect.

It's not unusual for high-concept Hollywood projects to result in strange sets of cinema doppelgängers; in 2000, two studios released tales of astronauts stranded on Mars, first the so-bad-it-might-become-a-camp-classic Mission to Mars, then Red Planet. But if both movies shared a sense of Survivor bloated with extraterrestrial existentialism, their music couldn't be more dissimilar. In contrast to Mars's typically dignified Morricone orchestral score, Red Planet features a more adventurous fusion of composer Graeme Revell's synth-scapes coupled with a slate of electronica-infused songs by Peter Gabriel (the industrial "The Tower Ate People" and its remix), Sting (the moody "A Thousand Years"), and Strange Cargo ("Montauk Point," a brooding 1995 side project featuring William Orbit, Rico Conning, and spoken word artist Joe Frank). But the revelations here are Revell's genre-morphing collaborations with French opera star Emma Shapplin, tracks that fuse electronics, organic elements, and seemingly ageless liturgical music into an intriguing new whole. --Jerry McCulley

5 out of 5 stars Sound Track .......2007-02-25

I loved the movie. I havea question, what is the track name of the music that Val Kilmer is listening to when the ship reaches mars?

5 out of 5 stars Graeme's Best.......2003-12-17

Few musicians emerge onto the scene with such grace and background as Gaeme. Out of unusual places spring unusual people, and in Red Planet he demonstrates that unusual music has the same genesis. I dare to say that Red Planet is one of the best soundtracks to date for its unusual combination of styles. Although classical intonations for Sci-fi flicks are not unheard of (can you say 'Also sprach Zarathustra' from 2001:ASO?) Graeme managed to bring it to new heights with Emma Shapplin's voice and 17 century Italian lyrics underscoring space. He used a similar approach for the mini-series Dune and the underrated Pitch Black, although on a lesser budget. Other musicians have set their own marks in scores that they will forever be remembered for (John Williams `Star Wars' and `Indiana Jones', Eric Sierra `Le Gran Bleu' to name a few), and it is Red Planet that gives Graeme his place in music heaven.

IMHO the track that stands clearly above all the others is 'The Inferno', a classic-neoelectronic combination of time and space, heightened to near extasy by Emma's strikingly clear voice, something even unapproachable to S. Brightman. This score is heard as the lone star ship leaved Mars in its wake and transcendences over into deep space on its way back to earth, and its Graeme, not Kilmer, who holds most of these scenes, and its Emma, not Moss, who captivates us with infinite beauty. Gaeme has given us something to listen to every day, as well as introduced a vocalist (Emma) to the world that hopefully we will still hear much of (this said I recommend also Emma's own non-soundtrack singles, such as `Discovering Yourself').

4 out of 5 stars Graeme Revell hits the mark.......2003-12-06

I haven't seen the film, and don't know who Emma Shapplin is: I only bought this due to my interest in GR's work (and getting it for $1.99 on Amazon didn't hurt). I was not disappointed, as he has written 7 tracks on this CD -- one of them co-written and co-performed by Melissa Kaplan (probably the best track). His work here proves his talent, especially his ability to convey a sense of the otherworldly, which I assume is the point here considering the theme of the film. As a bonus, I was introduced to Strange Cargo. [I'm not about to run out to the store and buy their albums, but their song on this CD was quirky.]
I hope that GR can keep it up for years to come. If you are interested in his audiosculptures, check out his CD "Zamia Lehmanni" from 1986, when he was in his prime [in the Industrial band SPK].
I am recommending Red Planet because it is a CD that you will likely still enjoy a year or more after purchase. Also, it simply doesn't sound like generic soundtrack muzak.
The one thing that bothers me is that it totals less than 1 hour.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent all the way through.......2003-11-01

I originally sought this record for the alternate versions of Peter Gabriel's The Tower That Ate People (btw, it originally appeared on OVO The Millenium Show, a terrific record). Very happy with those remixes & also very excited about the quality of each & every other track ... Emma Shapplin, Graeme Revell, etc. A super disk.

5 out of 5 stars A must by.......2003-09-26

This is a must-get CD if you like Emma Shapplin music. Sting did one song and it's a wonderful song! The album is a mix of rock, opera, and somewhat new age. It's worth a buy.

5 out of 5 stars You won't want to "Come Back Down to Earth".......2006-11-01

This CD is a great mix to turn up and sing along with. People who haven't seen the movie like many of the songs. Songs from the movie. Now the deal with CREED's song confusion is simple - their song was NOT in the movie, but was used on some of the TV trailers for the movie. I remember wondering at the theater why I didn't hear CREED the whole time when it had been used for the commercials. Anyway, the soundtrack is excellent, and so was the movie. In my opinion, it's one of the best "older kids/adult" soundtracks for an animated film.

4 out of 5 stars Great Soundtrack.......2006-08-02

This is an absolutely Fan-Freakin'-tastic soundtrack. cosmic castaway is byfar the best song on the album. though creed isnt featured on the album they are featured in the movie (i think its during the end credits) and you know Creed's song wouldnt feel right anywhere during this movie. it doesnt fit and thats why it didnt make it to the soundtrack. each of the songs featured here tie in perfectly with the scenes they were used in. If you loved the movie buy the album!

4 out of 5 stars Worth its price.......2005-01-10

The thing I like the most about this CD is that every time I listen to it, a new song becomes my favorite. But of course, the breakthrough band discovery was Splashdown. Many times I wish there would be more songs influenced by middle-eastern sounds. Not just because we don't listen to them much, but because the sounds and music scale they use over there is absoluetly cool. In this song I especially love the way they've combined the traditional sounds with a western rock-ish beat. Highly recommended!

3 out of 5 stars It's far from perfect, but it's still pretty good........2004-04-22

TITAN A.E. is (unfortunately) a rarity in compilation soundtracks. Throughout the album, there is evidence that the producers did their absolute best to make this soundtrack something more than a commercial tie-in to the movie, and for that alone they deserve to be praised. It seems like they attempted to address all the complaints music fans make about compilation soundtracks:

1) They have tons of songs that aren't in the movie.
No problem here. All of the songs on TITAN A.E. are used in the movie, often in particularly memorable sequences ("The End Is Over," "It's My Turn To Fly").

2) A lot of the songs are available on other CDs.
When this soundtrack was released in 2000, none of the songs were available elsewhere, and since then only three songs ("Over My Head," "Cosmic Castaway," "Not Quite Paradise") have found their way to other albums. In fact some songs featured in the movie (most notably "Higher" by Creed) were apparently left off because they were already available.

3) Most of the songs aren't actually "inspired" by the movie.
DEFINITELY not this one. The producers of this soundtrack went to such lengths to make sure that the lyrics on the songs were thematically that it's almost a fault: on some songs ("It's My Turn To Fly," "Renegade Survivor") it's so obvious that it borders on corny.

4) There's nothing that links the songs musically.
This is where TITAN A.E. stars to falter; it's no surprise that this is the most common complaint made about the soundtrack. It starts as an electronic rock album, and ends with electronica tracks that feature rock guitars. This wouldn't be so bad, but there are several songs that stick out like sore thumbs as a result ("Over My Head," "Not Quite Paradise," "Renegade Survivor"). The sudden genre shifts detract signifigantly from the enjoyment of the album as a whole.

In the end, however, a soundtrack is only as good as its songs, and this turns out to be TITAN A.E.'s greatest strength as well as its weakness. There are some absolute gems here--"The End Is Over" is easily one of Powerman 5000's best songs, and "Everybody's Going To The Moon" will make you wonder why you stopped listening to Jamiroquai after 1997--but there's also some real duds here, like Bliss 66's incredibly cheesy "Not Quite Paradise" and Lit's boring opener "Over My Head." Still, the fact that all of these songs are in the movie makes recommending TITAN A.E. easier: if you liked most of the songs in the movie, you'll like the soundtrack.

5 out of 5 stars ...It's Over My Head..........2002-12-31

A great soundtrack to a great movie. Lit's 'Over My Head' is fun, Powerman 5000's 'The End Is Over' is okay, But the two best songs of all are Electrasy's 'Cosmic Castaway' and Urge's 'It's My Turn To Fly'. Although most of the music on here is rock and metal (there's even a song that's rap), it's nonetheless good music for fan's of the movie.

5 out of 5 stars Music of Crow...........2003-08-18

The music of this movie (being that the movie it self was a amazing story in itself) adds to the excitment and the wonder of what could possibly be a new way of looking as life and death. I think the music is a wonder to listen to with or without the watching of the movie...as it moves your blood faster through your body , you feel the life run through you. And you feel more alive and appreciate the life you were given. A keeper for all those that have a darkside.

5 out of 5 stars Heavy.......2002-08-18

Remember Brandon Lee standing atop a building playing some heavy guitar licks? It's on this CD. This soundtrack has mostly the instrumental songs you heard on "The Crow". They are mostly a heavy rock and new age sound. I rate this one of the best soundtracks I've ever gotten. You have to watch the movie first to be sure you like this sound. If you do, be sure to get this one and not one of the other "Crow" soundtracks.

4 out of 5 stars Moody Music.......2002-06-21

Graeme Revell demonstrates his skill at setting mood with creative and unusual sound blends on this CD. The Crow was a dark movie, yet the music combines sublime sweatness with dark foreboding. Some of the cuts would be pleasant to fall asleep to. Others could wake one screaming in the middle of the night.

I've enjoyed using this as background music for writing software. The tracks are varied enough so that it doesn't become boring, yet ambient enough to disappear into the background while leaving my mind free to concentrate on implementing algorithms correctly. I'm not quite brave enough to listen to this while driving SoCal freeways, though ... it jerks from the serene willingness to sit at peace in a perpetual traffic jam to instant road rage.

Although Revell is talented, The Crow's score does not match up to the work of Hans Zimmer. Zimmer's work on The Lion King and The Power of One absolutely define 5-Star film scores (Moulin Rouge goes to at least a 6- or 7-star score), so this only gets a four.

5 out of 5 stars The Chronicles of Riddick.......2006-04-26

I have always been a fan of movie soundtracks that make you feel the moment and leave you humming a tune that you take everywhere in your head with you. I bought this soundtrack and just popped it into my dual-core and let it run for a couple of days straight while I did my thing. Try listening to Arrival At Helion with 5.1 sourround headphones! This is one of those soundtracks that uses all the elements in just the right "Sweet spot".

5 out of 5 stars Impressive soundtrack.......2005-07-13

I've been getting more and more reluctant to buy soundtracks lately because most of the new movies had all sorta the same sound to them. Riddick, however, is well worth buying. I never saw the first movie, only the chronicles because my sister suggested I might like the soundtrack.

The music is fast paced, very techno-ish at times. There is also a strong middle eastern influence in some tracks. The vocals are beauitful. At times the strong beats and fast other music brings you into the action. It is a well made and beautiful score and I would definitely suggest it.

4 out of 5 stars Great.......2005-01-24

This is a score I listen to a lot, mainly because the majority of the tracks are great and the themes are really catchy.
The standout tracks are:
Hunt For Riddick: starts off fast and develops into a really atmospheric piece
One Speed: the best track on the CD, it uses the theme from Pitch Black a lot
Arrival At Helion: the Pitch Black theme shows up again
Helion Attack Pt. 2: a great action theme
Necromongers: the Necromonger theme sounds evil and sinister, a great listen
End Credits: basically a rehash of One Speed
Overall, this is a great score by one of my favourite composers, Graeme Revell. Now we just have to wait the Pitch Black score to be released.

4 out of 5 stars An Adequate Evolution.......2004-06-09

Graeme Revell has always been something of a shape shifter, combining a variety of different techniques and themes to create what has now become his eclectic career in film scoring. The Chronicles of Riddick is no different, and stands out as one of his more original scores to date.

Having scored the film's precursor, Pitch Black, Revell has already familiarised himself with the universe of Riddick, and now fleshes out his sparse and moody score from the first film into a grand epic of action cues, regal anthems and grim suspense. Surprisingly enough, he uses the main theme from Pitch Black only a few times, even modifying it to carry a more epic scale.

A few tracks stand out from the rest, notably the "Hunt for Riddick", "One Speed" and the end credits. The Necromonger theme is also enjoyable. One track, "Imam's Death", surprised me by being just plain interesting, although I think it's unfortunate the label decided to reveal a major plot spoiler in the title.

While this isn't the most exciting action score, given the film's half-action, half-dark and creepy motifs, it does provide a few thrills, even if its themes skirt the edges of a "made for TV" movie. In all I would say this is one of the more interesting and engaging Revell scores, and definitely one to pick up if you're a fan of the composer, the series, or just good film music.

Set in dark, slickened streets and populated by a stellar ensemble cast, this adaptation of Frank Miller's hard-edged, film noir inspired graphic novels plays like comic-book-come-to-life—not surprising, as Miller is credited as Robert Rodriguez's co-director (with a bit of help from Quentin Tarantino). The soundtrack to this bleak, compelling exercise in pure noir stylism is provided mostly by director Rodriguez, with an occasional assist from past collaborators John Debney (Spy Kids and its sequel) and Graeme Revell (From Dusk Til Dawn). While their largely synth-driven cues tend naturally towards brooding atmospheric soundscapes, their tense electro-rhythms are seasoned with bracing doses of sinewy, sensual sax and dotted with the occasional bongo flourish, details that musically evoke both a shadowy humanity and the film's genre-savvy roots. Also featuring disparate, yet wholly integrated contributions from techno-house savants Fluke (the hypnotic "Absurd") and 20th century Mexican classicist Silvestre Revueltas, it's the sinister flipside to the future-jazz sheen of Vangelis' classic Blade Runner.--Jerry McCulley

3 out of 5 stars trailer music.......2006-08-06

i listened to the servant song and i know everyone said its pretty well known that that is the song they used in the trailer, but if you listen to "broken chairs" by built to spill it really sounds like parts of the trailer music too. and its also a good song. so i would recommend trying that as well!

5 out of 5 stars Great!.......2006-01-17

Now, i loved the movie, but the soundtrack blew me away! all the songs fit the movie perfectly. However, it is missing the instrumental version of "Cells" by the Servants, which plays on the DVD title menu
so, here you go:

Instrumental Version!
Have Fun

3 out of 5 stars sin city.......2005-09-30

Is a very good soundtrack because i think that Robert Rodriguez has made a great choice with the composers and his own musical composition

5 out of 5 stars Go Here if you want Cells download.......2005-09-27

While the previous reviwer was correct that Cells the trailer song is not on the soundtrack, Servant did indeed create an instrumental version and you can obtain it at this link follow the instructions it is at the Servant website so its legal and its for a limited time only!

Your Welcome ;)

4 out of 5 stars An addendum to "FangsFirst" comment.......2005-09-16

FangsFirst is absoluty correct -- trailer music is almost never on the movie's soundtrack. An interesting additional bit of trivia, however; almost all trailer themes ARE from a movie soundtrack, just from a DIFFERENT movie than the one the trailer is for!

So if you're looking for "Cells" by The Servant (the song from the Sin City trailer), take a look at the soundtrack to Transporter 2. You'll find it along with another song by The Servant. "Cells" does have lyrics to it (which aren't on the Sin City trailer), but it's still a damned good song.

Just thought I'd share that with everybody.

4 out of 5 stars very good.......2003-05-21

This soundtrack really grew on me. After the first listen I thought it was lacking, but after 2-3 hearings, I discovered bits and pieces that are very nice and unique, and very pretty adding new dimention to the score.
it's a cool soundtrack,worth keeping.

2 out of 5 stars Put this one in the tomb.......2002-12-17

Composers that were first signed on to do the score were John Powell, video game composer Nathan McCree, and Michael Kamen. As the premiere got closer, Kamen got off the project and that left someone to compose the music for the score in 10 days! That person is Graeme Revell. Since only 10 days was the time needed to write the music, Revell used mainly electronics with a little bit of orchestra. The result: nothing even remotely exciting. This is not Revell's fault though as he even said in an interview that this score disappointed him, as he felt it did not represent his best work. I definitely agree with him. The music itself is mainly annoying electronic pulses with orchestral and choral effects. "Main Title" is one of the best cues on the album, with a fully orchestral theme for strings and piano. Most of the remainder of the tracks consist of pulse pounding electronics. Tracks like "Home Invasion", "Lara Battles the Stone Monkeys", "Angkor Wat", and "The Letter" consist of techno beat rhythms which give you a headache very fast. Another track that I wish we could hear more of is "The Planetary Alignment" as it contains great choral and orchestral elements in it. Overall, unless you like techno pounding electronic music, I suggest that you stay away from this score and go for something better. A good effort by Revell given the time constraints, but a disappointed listenings worth.

4 out of 5 stars Yay for Revell!.......2002-03-20

I really like the music for this film becuase it portrays little bits of the movie and as you listen to it you can see the movie go on in your head. This is a great buy and I highly recommend.

4 out of 5 stars Davenport Iowa Dubuque Iowa.......2006-07-27

My name is Adam and i am 16. I am a big fan of Denzel and I think this is a good movie and soundtrack. In the movie it's kind of hard to watch cause of all the secrets and backrounds but you get the hang of it. Denzel is basicly like they say a good guy doing wrong things, four the right reasons. Anyway this is a good soundtrack. I like all the remixs in the theme. the theme is so peaceful. it can put you in any kind of mood. I recommend it to just about anyone. thanks amazon

5 out of 5 stars Out of Time Soundtrack.......2006-03-03

I've watched the movie several times and without the brilliance
of Graeme Revell's talent in giving his music that touch like being in Florida was the feeling I got of being on an island surrounded by palm trees, beautiful weather and a view only the sun gives when it sets.............

5 out of 5 stars SIMPLY THE BEST SCORE IN RECENT TIMES.......2004-10-14

Greame Revell's score is mesmerizing. It is by far the best score for a movie in recent times. The album makes you wanna just keep repeating the tunes over and over again.

Good on you Greame Revell. I am sold on you and here's looking forward to your next magical score.

Jim Carroll's harrowing saga of growing up troubled in New York City makes for a solid film with an excellent soundtrack to match. Cuts by a Vedder-less Pearl Jam (joining Carroll to rerecord his 1980 fav "Catholic Boy") and Soundgarden (offering the gloomy "Blind Dogs") merit the hype. P. J. Harvey gets extra mileage out of the brilliant "Down by the Water," Green Apple Quick Step's "Dizzy" is a winner and there's the curiosity factor of a, frankly, awful solo debut by Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. --Jeff Bateman

4 out of 5 stars Strawberry Wine.......2007-01-24

Strawberry Wine is one of the greatest songs ever written. What sucks is it was written by a band that is completely unknown. (Try even Googling this band) Every bit as good and trippy as anything Pink Floyd or Radiohead have ever done.

4 out of 5 stars Strawberry Wine...............2006-08-21

This soundtrack to the Leo DiCaprio movie is pretty good for the most part. The standouts on this disc include "Riders on the Storm" by the Doors, "Down by the Water" by PJ Harvey and "Strawberry Wine" by Massive Internal Complications.

The real reason that I'm even writing this review is just to draw your attention to "Strawberry Wine", which is just a great song that a lot of people haven't heard of. I think the song was just a one-shot because I can't find any information on the band itself or anything else they may have done. Anyway, try to get your hands on that song, it's absolutely fantastic.

4 out of 5 stars It's a slam-dunk........2003-12-09

Like anyone, I picked this up because of all the bands I liked on it. But the real bonus is that the bands I didn't know are just as great, or these songs anyway. One of the well known songs on here is "People Who Died", by the "Jim Carroll Band". All the songs involving him are good. The tracks from "PJ Harvey" and "The Cult" are good. Obviously "Riders On The Storm" is classic. The songs "Coming Right Along" and "Strawberry Wine" are suprisingly good as well. The only disappointments here are from "Flea" and "Soundgarden". Neither song is bad, but I expected more from them. This also has a few inserts from the book "Basketball Diaries".

4 out of 5 stars Great Soundtrack.......2003-02-01

This was an awesome movie and a it's a great soundtrack. The "songs" by Jim Carroll are different and if you buy this CD for any reason, it will have to be for the song "Strawberry Wine." Plain and simple, the song is amazing.

5 out of 5 stars Surprisingly wonderful.......2001-11-20

I actually bought the thing cause at the time I liked Leonardo DiCaprio. Well, suffice to say I'm *over* that phase, but I held onto the CD. This album has a great selection of songs..."Strawberry Wine" (Massive Internal Complications) still sends a chill up my spine. "Coming Right Along" is just as great. I'm able, actually, to listen to the whole CD without skipping around. A well-deserved 5 stars.

5 out of 5 stars Soundtrack As Great As The Movie Itself.......2005-10-24

Although, not surpassing the first film's music, this soundtrack is good. People are saying that this is a great score to a bad movie, but I say this is a great score to a great movie (Still, it does not surpass the first Crow film)

I think the music 'I Will Wait For You' is the best. It represents the love, romance feel in this movie.

Buy this score if you want to know what I'm talking about, and also buy the dvd!

ASHE: One crow sorrow......two crows joy...Three crows a letter....four crows a boy....Five crows silver.....six crows gold...Seven crows a secret never to be told.

5 out of 5 stars Another terrific score to a bad movie!.......2001-03-04

Revell build on to,and adds texture to,his original vision for the first film's score.Dark,Gothic soundscapes for those of us that love that sort of thing.Skip the movie, though. It's garbage..........

5 out of 5 stars Terriffic gothic music score.......1999-09-07

After hearing this amazing score, I'm surprised I never noticed it more while I was watching the trash film it was wasted on. Even after hearing the sound samples from this page, the embarrassment of owning the score for such an awful movie made me hesitate to buy it. However, once I began listening to the real CD through good speakers, all regret vanished. This is one of my most valued CDs, and I listen to it constantly. The first crow score had more ethnic elements, whereas this one is mostly all gothic in style, but there is still a great variety of different tracks and nothing ever gets boring. I'll probably never find a better album of dark atmospheric music in my life, unless it's by Graeme Revell. The only thing I don't like about this album is the pop-singer vocal track, but it is the last track, and can be easily avoided if you happen to share my abhorrence for that sort of thing.

5 out of 5 stars As mysterious and touching as the first.......1998-12-04

Graeme Revell's gothic music score not only add to the dark nature of the film, but also invokes emotion as not many scores do. His combination of orchestra, chorus, and rock accompanies the film remarkably, and on its own stands as an excellent album of goth music. Perhaps its not as good as the first score soundtrack, but it is still worth it to own.
