About the Artist
DJ Jaspa is the up and rising star of Canada’s progressive and house scene. Hailing from Vancouver, B.C., he is becoming known as one of the hottest underground Canadian DJ's to date. DJ Jaspa has played live at a number of North America’s hot spots, as well as at the Standard, LA's premier club in California. Spinning his own music with a mix of the latest Progressive favorites, DJ Jaspa opened for the internationally known DJ Angola at the Cirque du Soleil Wrap Party for the show Varekai. He has also had the opportunity to open for the internationally acclaimed DJ Sakin while in Vancouver. The Mun2 (an NBC affiliate) television show No Cover featured and exclusive interview with DJ Jaspa that focuses on DJ Jaspa’s skills as a turntable master. DJ Jaspa offers a new element of precision to the progressive scene, infusing a blend of Electronica with hip hop to form high-energy and rhythmic beats that keep the body moving. He has mastered his craft by continually staying behind the turntables and has been known to move crowds to his own beat. His major influences are Paul Van Dyke, DJ Tiesto, Andy Hunter, Armin Van Buren and Paul Oakenfold.. DJ Jaspa is also a producer and concluded a project in 2003 with Point Grey Community Church. The Point Grey Project required DJ Jaspa to build and blend a wide variety of beats for their Hebrews Project CD. This CD is a cutting-edge collection of Pre Recorded Scriptures read over electronic music, synths and beats. In 2004, DJ Jaspa will begin producing a variety of up and coming new Canadian artists. The goal is to assist them into developing their style of music within the progressive realm. Prior to entering the progressive genre, DJ Jaspa was a hip hop artist with the well-known Canadian group, Plaiskool. With a solid background in hip hop, DJ Jaspa has crafted a unique blend of progressive, ambient, hip hop into his music, which makes for a style that has mass appeal. He describes his music as eclectic and moving, "its music that speaks to your soul and gets into your bones." DJ Jaspa is currently in the studio working on his first solo project album with an anticipated release of Summer 2004. Within this journey of sound, you will find a variety of Progressive, House, Trance, Ambient Hip Hop and Electronica that will entertain the senses of even the most seasoned listeners. A combination of Melodic vocals and positive lyrics, intertwined with a collage of musical genres and slammin beats. The artist took a brief pause from his previously busy club and party schedule, which included such notables as LA hot spot The Standard and the wrap party for Cirque du Soleil's Varekai, to work on his album. The full-length CD is self-produced, being released independently. "A Long Time Coming" will feature blends of genre and sound, with ambient tracks juxtaposed against hip hop, rock, and progressive house. DJ JASPA also utilizes melodic, feminine, sometimes breathy vocals, such as those of French-speaking chanteuse Solenne Posson, to add live elements to many of the tracks. Additionally, there are pulsing guitar riffs and DJ JASPA's own rap vocals on one track, "Wonderful World." For many fans, this will be a nostalgic treat looking back to the DJ's days prior to progressive house, when he was a hip hop artist with the well-known Canadian group Plaiskool. "Yeah, it's been a long time coming, never thought it'd take so long," moans Jonny Lang on the seemingly autobiographical title track to his first release in five years. But its stark acoustic, near demo quality is in contrast to the preceding 12 songs, which are buffed to an arena-rock sheen. The youngster has shifted from an up-and-coming bluesman into a tough, journeyman melodic rocker with a dab of R&B. He has also honed his songwriting skills, resulting in the majority of this album (except a rugged bonus live cover of Stevie Wonder's "Livin' for the City" and the first single "Red Light") being self-penned. Aiming for the back rows, Long Time Coming boasts booming, sing-along mid-tempo choruses in "Save Yourself" and "Goodbye Letter," perfect for the lighter-waving crowd. He has also transformed into a soulman of sorts, evidenced by the Prince/ Michael McDonald influences on "Touch," "Beautiful One," "The One I Got," and the funky "If We Try." Once a burgeoning guitar hero, Lang's solos are now integrated into the material, further bolstering the hard rock/soul approach. As some have said, if you like any of his early work then DO NOT buy this disc. He has gone from blues guitar phenom to R&B to a mishmash of style. I have no problem with change but the quality just isn't on this one. I bought it early without benefit of any reviews. I tried listening to it for several weeks but it never grabbed me at all- no soul or grit. I'll have to hear something better before buying Jonny disc again.

Lie to me and Wander this world are so much different and much much better, if you are a blues fan. I bought it for "Give me up again", which is in a very good version on the Clapton DVD "Crossroads Festival". The rest is more like a Prince style, Pitty, hardly any guitar, Jonny is slipping away from the blues.

This is a great Rock-Blues album, with a unique guitar sound and touching melodies, you must be open minded to love it.
If you love the old blues records and you're looking for another stone blues - it's probably not the one for you, but if you are open minded and you like a crunchy rock sound, you will love this CD.
It reminded me the Sprinsteen rock sound but with much more blues into it.

The fact remains that everyone wants a Jonny Lang cd that sounds like every other Jonny Lang CD. He is amazing. Noone could believe that such a young guy could have such a soulful voice. His soulfullness has not changed just the main sound of it. This CD provided me with the satisfaction to see how versitile his music can be and I was VERY pleasantly suprised. I recommend this cd to any Jonny fan because he has proved that he is an ever evolving music artist. Amazing!

The 80's sound was very energetic, and even Prince himself was heavily influenced by the persons like Morris Day (who was in turn very much influenced by Prince). The standard for measuring Ready For The World is whether they made good music that is entertaining and enjoyable to listen to-not whether or not Prince was a heavy influence on the group. These gentlemen-from Sterling Height, MI, made great music.

A Long Time Coming, which features the smash hit "Let Me Love You Down" is a huge fallup success to the groups firs album. All the songs are good, but especially: "Here I Am", "Baby Let Me Love", and one of my favorites "In My Room" and of course "Mary Goes Round". Buy this, and enjoy it, I'm sure you will!

Bought this when I was a young teen kid, was in love with it for years though everything else I listened to was Rock. Back then, this and their first album were THE albums to romance your woman with as a soundtrack.. Yeah, we all know "oh shiela".. but the slow songs on this album are guaranteed to get ya in the *mood*

Years passed, tapes lost somewhere, went back to my Rock..

Just recently bought these RFTW classics again for memories sake.. I'm tellin you, these slow songs are still amazing.

It's a must have.. this is comin from a Van Halen fan even. =P

Can You Ride PRINCE ANYMORE? these songs SOund Like Prince Outtakes and for the most par forgettable.Long Time Coming was my cut back in 86 but it hasn't aged well.Love You Down helped Influence Keith Sweat's style.but they were All On Prince on this Disc.this is More of a Prince Tribute Album than a Ready For The World Album?

    Playing Time - 37:14 -- The members of David Parmley & Continental Divide have plenty of bluegrass experience under their belts with groups like the Bluegrass Cardinals, Lost & Found, Easter Brothers, and Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver. Originally from Los Angeles, guitarist/vocalist Parmley began playing pro at age 17 with his father in the Bluegrass Cardinals. In 1993, he moved to Nashville to pursue a solo career in country music. In 1994, "David Parmley, Scott Vestal & Continental Divide" formed to journey into progressive bluegrass. If my memory serves me right, Harley Allen, Aubrey Haynie, Mike Anglin and later Jimmy Bowen, Rickie Simpkins and Randy Kohrs were members too. In 1998, the band re-organized into what we know them as today with the emphasis back to more traditional, gospel and some original material. That is clearly their forte, and "Long Time Coming" includes some former Cardinals in the lineup (Randy Graham on mandolin, Dale Perry on banjo, Barry Berrier onbass) along with the hot fiddling of Steve Day, a Kentucky state champion fiddler. "Where Rainbows Touch Down" have Mike Hartgrove's fiddles in the mix.

    David Parmley has smooth and distinctive lead vocals. Randy Graham sings all the tenor parts on the recording. This is the first recording that David and Randy have made together since the early 90s when they recorded "What Have You Done For Him," the last project cut by the original three Bluegrass Cardinals (Randy Graham, Don and David Parmley). Parmley had a hand in composing three original songs, his father Don wrote "Where the Sweetwater Flows," and Randy Graham penned a gospel number, "Get Right or Get Left." Also included are two songs from a favorite songwriter they often cover, Randall Hylton, with "Lee Berry Rye" and "Where Rainbows Touch Down." They chose to include them because they were previously recorded by the Cardinals on albums now out of print and the band gets many requests for them. The band's "new favorite songwriter" is Robert Gately who contributed three songs ("More Than I Can Bear," "Done Gone," and "Katy Hill"). The former open the album with a driving bluegrass bang. The latter closes the project with a more leisurely ballad about love and life that evolves into the hoedown of the same name. What becomes immediately apparent is that the group can present contemporary material that immediately evokes the same feelings and emotions that much older traditional material does. They have captured the essence of traditional bluegrass, and as they say in their personal appearances, "if that ain't a bluegrass song, a pig ain't pork!" (Joe Ross, staff writer, Bluegrass Now)

        Me parece que el arte vocal de Kiri posee muchas fortalezas y sòlidos atributos: brillantez, claridad, riqueza de colores, excelente fraseo, perfecta colocación y afinación, expresividad. Sin embargo, también carece de una mejor respiración para poder contrarrestar el excesivo vibrato que aplica a su canto. Sobre algunas de las obras interpretadas, recomiendo: Der Rosenkavalier: Schwarzkopf; Wagner: Kirsten Flagstad.

        I think this is going to be good if this is the brand new Oklahoma? I like partically all the songs except for Poor Jud is Daid and Lonely Room. I would go for the ballet but I really don't like that either. I like all the rest though.

        When I first heard the track, "The Illest" on the Beat Junkies Vol. 3 album, i was shocked. When I picked the album up, I knew what I was Getting. Some of the rawest lyrics i have heard in years, mesmerising beats, and overall greatness is all included in this release. Taking the left coast underground to new heights, Mykill Miers is out in front standing above all. With an appearance from underground veteran Freddie Foxxx,as well as other guests such as Iriscience and Planet Asia, this just enlightens the album even more. There is no possible way you can be disappointed in this album. As a true Hip Hop and DJ, trust me, its great....

        I love first of all that Cali MCs are representing underground hip-hop. M-Boogie cuts the beats raw and with the help of top MCs such as Iriscience, Asia, and Dikshen Diverse. This album flows with perfection. I agree that there is a Premier influence, but Myke Miers's voice and lyrics give this album a different feel. Cop this if you love underground.. like Premier says "We're like Roaches baby....always livin', never dying"
