Customer Reviews:
Disapointed at first but now a classic.......2000-10-02
My what a journey this album is. To start out I took this one home and sat down for a listen, starts out chill with a mans deep voice speaking french, and for some reason it sounds incredibly elegant and trippy at the same time over the lush sounds it has been placed over. A chill drum n bass beat slides in for the next track and the journey begins. 5 star galaxy is a new series to me, this apparently being the second in the series is an interesting eclectic arrange of trip hop, drum n bass and oddball jazzy compositions. One or two of the tracks contain a rather cheesy midi sounding keyboard but that aside this is a very worthwhile album. You got in a fight with your girl? Your parents? It doesn't matter once you give this album a few rotations and your problems will dissapear into the dreamy strange and abstract tracks you will hear. My personal favorites are the last track "Tales From The Darkside" which is a little darker than most of the album and leans toward the drum n bass genre. Also the strange gospel samples and cool slippery jazz beat on "Greetings From Gor'ee" are quite intoxicating. One thing you should also take into consideration is that this album is put out by the very same label that produces most of Dj Krush's works so if your a Krush fan you know that there is some definite quality to this release. So to all jazz, drum n bass, trip hop and abstract fans check this out. You wont be disappointed at music or the price.
