Customer Reviews:
Truly Beautiful.......2004-05-05
This compilation is one of the most moving collections of music that I've heard. It's power are emotion are matched to such treasures as Pet Sounds. You may be initially turned off by the price but don't be. If purchased, this cd set will become a favorite, one that you will not grow tired of in time. I owned this cd and made the mistake of sharing it with a friend. Needless to say the cds were never returned. I searched for over a year to replace it. Unfortunately no one was stocking it. Its great to see that Amazon.com now has it in their catelogues. Buy it before it disappears forever!!!
Not for all Trance lovers. Only for die-hard Oakenfold fans........2004-01-29
This is very early Trance/Techno that is mixed well but not as well as some of Oakenfold's better works like Tranceport (his best CD to date) or Great Wall (His 2nd best).
This is more industrial club DJ music that is fast trance, with lots of very early beeps and beats. I would only recommend this one if you are a die-hard Oakenfold fan or if you want to listen to some fast trance with lots of fast drums. It does not really peak as much as his better CDs and certainly is devoid of the magic, but there is a DJ in the making here. This may have been good for its time but there is a lot better Oakenfold out there (and some worse ones!) when all is said and done.
This is very fast and early and not the best Oakenfold you can start with. I certainly recommend Tranceport over this one or Great Wall and prefer those CDs to this one but as you can see die-hard lovers of Oakenfold will rate this CD highly. I would not recommend starting here though.
The best blend of classical and electronica ever........2003-12-13
I was fortunate enough to get this first time around in the UK (The 2 disc version), where it failed to sell many copies on release unfortunately. But it is probbaly my most played album over the past few years.
The true talent of Oakenfold shines through here, as both a mixer and also as an ear for great music. The way the music flows from beautiful classical score to deep and thoughtful trance and back again has never been bettered. This is one of the few albums that I would say is beautiful, perfect for listening to in a darkened room or with your eyes closed.
I am even more impressed now as a number of these artists were not even household names in their own house at the time. The brilliant Astral Projection, Transa, Y Traxx and Man With No Name steal the show in my opinion but the album in quality from start to finish.
Disc 1 starts in chill out mode and regularly returns there in between some very cool sections of Goa and Trance.
Disc 2 is slightly harder overall but starts out with the achingly beautiful chimes of Zbigniew Preisner (Craven Leaves), quite possibly one of the most eerily beautiful tunes I've heard in a long long time.
Just out of inteest here is the full track listing (with artist).

Truely inspiring, I only wish that there were more like this. 5 out of 5 in any language.
I know I paid only £25 for this (about $25) at the time, but it really is worth the $48 or whatever it is these days. You will never regret it.
One of Oakie's Best by far!.......2003-07-23
This is my 6th addition to my ever growing Oakenfold collection and fuels my ambitions to keep it growing. Fluoro is rated at the top of my collection along with all other Oakie albums i've acquired. The Trance and Break Beats mixed with the Ambience gives this album a balanced fulfillment of what Oakenfold is capable of. I have yet to be disappointed. Five Stars!!!!
oakenfold at his best!!!.......2003-05-17
Paul Oakenfold is without question the most well known dj in the world and although, of late, his musical style has leaned heavily on euro-pop. This recording captures Oakenfold in his prime. The track listing is outstanding. The songs are quality through and through and they do not sound dated such as other compilations of the era. If you are a fan of this type of music, snatch this one up ASAP as it is now out of print. This one is even better than the revered Tranceport. Enjoy!! rock the vote :)

oldie but goody.......2003-03-23
this disc is a prime example of why hes still one of the most popular DJs of our time. for some reason this disc is close to my heart. its a bit difficult to go to a store and ask for this item, at least where i live. if you like Paul dont hesitate to pick this one up. a classic indeed!!!!!!
Awesome CD for any Paul Oakenfold Fan.......2002-08-15
Perfect, Awesome, Brilliant, Only One like it, What do I have more to say.
This was my last CD of Oakenfold to my collection and I really love it.
I have all CDs os Oakenfold and this is one of my favorites including the JDJ Vol.5, and the JDJ Marathon.
Good Luck

It's the best-for all time!.......2001-11-25
If you have to get just one album by Paul Pakenfold then get this one.Of all his remixes and albums this is right up there with Traveling as the very creme de la creme;it has all the most original songs as well as some that are still being played all over even though this cd is 7 years old already. The best are Dreams by Quench,Little Bullet by Spooky and of course Not Over Yet by State of Grace which is woven into the beginning and ending of each set.I first heard Not Over Yet in 97 when it started getting airplay in my area;I am in love with this song and Paul Oakenfold's music. (...)
Still a solid intro.......2001-06-16
This DJ mix disc is already 7 odd years old, but it's still a solid listen and will get you moving. Has some great tracks, including the fantastic Perfecto remix of U2's "Lemon", as well as "The Snake" by Opal and tracks from the Shamen and Grace. Definitely worth picking up, though this is either out of print or much more limited now, having been bumped aside for the rash of Oakenfold releases of late.
Decent*but* Unspectacular.......1998-12-30
Some fine tracks, some relatively dull ones, but lacking those few signature moments which, if live, would send you to that golden ball of honey deep inside where all is bliss.

Customer Reviews:
Doesn't deserve a bad rap.......2004-11-18
This disc does not deserve the bad rap it gets. Yes, it is not Tranceport. Get over it. However, the mix between tracks 8+9 is as bout as good as it gets. Tilt and BT go together real well.
Not really worth buyin.......2004-09-22
Don't just buy cds because of a name. Oakenfold is incredible don't get me wrong, but man this cd just well... its not what you'd expect. yea these are mostly just club tracks from the late 90's. Go ahead and just get a different mix by him. but still becarful what you get. You might not like it.
A+.......2003-07-15
This album is just as good ad DJ Burchett's album released....good work!
Yuck.......2003-03-20
Although I love Oakenfold, this cd is not very good. The music dates itself and it's very simplistic and generally awful..I tried to get into it without success. The worst.
Terrible.......2003-01-18
I'm a fan of a lot of Oakies' stuff - but this mix absolutely did not do his name any justice - keep surfin', this cd is terrible.

Journeys by DJ - Another in a great series.......2005-06-11
Digweed, Oakenfold, Coldcut & DJ Rap plying their trade on 2 disc's. Progressive House, Breakbeat, Techno, Drum n Bass, Big Beat. Another in a very underrated series. By '05 some of this music is dated, but still a very credible release. Shag a copy of this badboy and gitcher groove on! (if you can find it!) It'll be worth the effort.

Oakenfold at his best.......2002-05-06
Another quality mix from the pioneering dj mix series. This one showcases Paul Oakenfold at his best. One of the great things about this mix is the way Oakey mixes up a variety of styles in a way that would be hard to do today. It starts off with some funky garage, before dropping into some groovey house tunes, then stepping up the tempo and moving into more progressive trance, finally ending with some classic pumping acid trance. Some of the highlights include The Question by Seven Grand Housing Authority, Ramirez's Hablando, the dancefloor classic Not Over Yet by State of Grace, Joey Beltram's Future Groove, Australia's trance classic Dreams by Quench, the sublime Little Bullet by Spooky, and Hallucinogen's LSD (they don't make trance like this anymore). Paul's mixing on this isn't too shabby (in fact better then on some of his later releases), plus there are no jarring tempo changes; one of the things that make me cringe with Oakenfold's mixing. All up, an excellent mix cd with some quality tunes, a must have for anyone who likes early progressive mixing.
Un-Real Mix truely enchanting!!.......2002-02-07
~This mix is one of my favs and for you Oakey fans this is a must!! it's tottally worth it trust me.
Classic Oakenfold showing his penchant for progessive trance.......1999-04-21
If you like Paul Oakenfold you will like this CD. The CD starts out with some hard vocal house, not the NY kind though, the European style. After a couple of funky tracks Paul shifts into overdrive and it's all over... He's got you on a progressive trance kick till the end. As always his mixing is seemless. This is a hard cd to find but well worth it. In addition check out John Digweed's JDJ silly mix.
