4 out of 5 stars Experimental, but grooving album..... .......2006-06-14

Dave Wright has been into the electronic music scene for years now, and while this album is a few years old, it still stands the test of time. Most compositions center around 2 elements, the first being experimental drones, sweeps, and synths that are more than likely from Wrights own personal arsenal of self made synthesizers and circuit bent electronics. The second half is killer breakbeat style drums that should appeal to anyone into breakcore, jungle, drum n bass, and anything else that utilized breakbeats. The album starts off with grooving tracks that have enough rhythm to bob your head and get town, then it just gradually goes into mutant electronic weirdness to the point of some bizzarre cover of "Stand by your man" which sounds very little like the original.

The cool thing about Not Breathing is that it's too weird and experimental to be classified as "Dance music" but there is enough structure and grooving drums and rhythms to appeal to be people who wanna make their brains dance.....

3 out of 5 stars Never heard of it before.......2002-01-31

I was listening to an internet radio station and heard itchy tingles album. I must say that his music is much different than most. This album is great for those who love bass and ilbient music. Even though it is repetative it overall is a good album.

5 out of 5 stars The New Paradigm?.......2000-07-26

Electronic music today is ruled by the dance floor; big beats, looped samples and stale 'out-of-the-box' sounds predominate. This has led to the view of electronic music as repetitive, boring, and even as 'not really music'. And then there's Dave Wright, aka 'not breathing'. Utilizing custom-modified keyboards, crafty drum programming, and an ear for subtlety and individuality in his sounds, not breathing has created a truly great electronic album. Comparable in its heights of composition and improvisation to new works by Plateau and Aphex Twin, this album sets new standards for electronic music. With everything from acid hi-hats to manic over-squelching to the haunting sounds of the waterphone, this is music to move the brain as much as the booty.
