Product Description
Earl Zinger – fearless beat master and legendary conqueror of bass lines drops his second !K7 release entitled Speaker Stack Commandments. Somewhere in between last year’s US national tour with Gilles Peterson, and this year’s European tour with his band Two Banks of Four, Rob Gallagher has found time to release another album under his moniker Earl Zinger. Zinger loves surfing through the hypertext of madness. Faster than any DSL, he hacks through reggae, ragga, dub, big band, jazz, and dancehall. He zaps through the styles like other people zap through afternoon talk shows. Speaker Stack Commandments is a musical test card featuring all colors in the visible and invisible spectra. Pandora’s Box is nothing more than and old tin trunk in comparison. You better believe it, Earl Zinger is no other than Rob Gallagher, who smuggled elegant acid jazz past the bouncers with the band Galliano between ’88 and ’96 on Talkin’ Loud Records. Gallagher and partner Dillip Harris have recently released their beautiful second album as Two Banks of Four, Three Street World's on Rob's own label Red Egyptian Jazz Records. With all his collaborations fans are sure to be thrilled to hear this new evolution.

4 out of 5 stars Funky Earl Zinger..........2004-09-22

All right I'm an electronic music enthusiast - and I bought this cd simply to help keep some balance in my evergrowing cd collection, which in the past few weeks has seen the addition of the newest Definitive Jux sampler, the newest Anticon sampler, the new K-os, and the Dizzee Rascal cds. This was just a random pick up to go along with the new prodigy, swayzak, and fatboyslim (in a couple of weeks) - I figured it would be a fairly electro type thing - but it's truly an old school brit-hop flava house mix studio monster. It is definitely a laid back party rocker - it makes me want to dance, but I'm still not sure if I want to freaky to it, or hop around like I'm at a rave. Anyway, the songs are pretty simple - but sonically perfect, and the cd just has a fun relaxing party vibe to it. Beware this is a minimalist sound with a lot of spoken hip hop style vocals. If you like Renegade Soundwave, Stereo MCs, and that sort of stuff you'll probably like this.
